Leon rubbed the back of his neck as he processed the explanation. Heroic Intelligence... made sense. He always had a knack for figuring things out faster than others. But Ace Charisma and Willpower? That felt strange—he didn't see himself as particularly inspiring or unshakable.
...
Leon served the meal to the rescued group, watching as their wary expressions gradually softened with every spoonful. Hunger soon overpowered distrust, and silence fell over them, broken only by the sound of desperate gulps and scraping bowls.
"This place," Leon said, his voice steady as he gestured to the cleared patch of land encircled by dense woods and rocky outcrops, "isn't much right now. But if we work together, we can turn it into a settlement—a place where we can survive"
"A tribe?" Elys asked, raising an eyebrow.
Leon nodded firmly. "Yes, a tribe. A place we can call home."
The group exchanged hesitant glances, their uncertainty evident. Yet, given their dire situation, none voiced disagreement. For now, the promise of safety and structure seemed worth the effort.
"But first," Leon continued, "we need resources. Gather wood, stone, and anything else you find that could be useful—fruits, herbs, animal hides. Stick close to the camp and don't take unnecessary risks. I'll handle the rest."
[System Update: Tribe Founding Stage Activated.]
Leon's HUD shifted, displaying a simplified Tribal Resource Panel:
Wood: 0
Stone: 0
Food Supplies: 0
Animal Hides: 0
Herbs: 0
As the group scattered to gather resources, Leon watched notifications roll in one by one:
[Resource Acquired: 10 units of Wood.]
[Resource Acquired: 5 units of Stone.]
[Resource Acquired: 3 units of Wild Berries.]
[Blueprint Unlocked: Basic Shelter.]
Back at the camp, Leon selected the Basic Shelter blueprint from his system menu. The surrounding area shimmered faintly as blue glowing outlines traced out where the shelter would stand.
"What's he doing?" one of the foragers whispered as Leon raised his hand.
"Stand back," he instructed.
With a thought, the system activated, pulling the gathered materials into a vortex of golden light. The glowing outline quickly solidified into a crude but sturdy hut made of wood and stone.
Gasps rippled through the group. Even Elys took a step closer, her earlier skepticism replaced by reluctant intrigue.
"Is this... magic?" someone muttered.
Leon shook his head. "Not magic. It's something else. Call it... efficiency."
[Basic Shelter Constructed: Capacity for 5.]
Encouraged by their growing safe zone, the group redoubled their efforts. Notifications continued to flood in as more materials arrived:
[Resource Acquired: 8 units of Animal Hides.]
[Blueprint Unlocked: Primitive Sleeping Mats.]
Leon quickly converted these into sleeping mats for the group, spreading them inside the hut.
"Now it's starting to feel like a real camp," he said aloud, surveying the progress.
As the first day of tribal development drew to a close, the group settled into the new shelter, visibly more at ease. Elys approached Leon while he sat by the campfire, glancing at him with folded arms.
"How did you do that?" she asked, her tone carrying a mix of curiosity and disbelief as she sat beside him.
Leon turned toward her, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Do what?"
"You know what I mean," Elys replied, gesturing around them. "Building a hut out of thin air? Turning scraps into... this? It's not exactly normal."
He chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. "It's... complicated. Let's just say I have certain abilities that make life a little easier for us."
"Abilities?" she repeated, leaning forward slightly. "You mean... like magic?"
"Not quite," Leon said, his tone tinged with hesitation. "More like... something I inherited. Hard to explain, but trust me—it'll help us survive."
"Oh…" Elys murmured, her voice barely audible. She glanced at him thoughtfully, processing his words.
Leon nodded and rose to his feet, walking toward the sturdy shelter he'd crafted. His mind turned to the rest of the group: four men and five women, including Elys. If the others paired off, the population could start to grow. But before anything like that, they needed a solid foundation.
'First things first, he thought. Let's focus on building a tribe.'
