"Wow…"
Caleb was taken aback by the view before him. As a transmigrated man, he knew how most dungeons were represented in literature.
But seeing up close and personal was another experience altogether.
"It's like I'm in a different world altogether."
Before him was an expansive space that went as far as his enhanced eyes could see.
All around him, there were tall grasses and trees shattered around.
There were mountains in the distance that had caves leading deeper into them.
The sky looked so real that Caleb would believe it was the outside world if he hadn't known where he was.
"Maybe it's truly a different dimension."
That was the only suitable explanation he had for what he was seeing.
Adventurers were around exploring the domain with most of them leading for the caves at the bases of the mountains.
Since this was the first floor, there weren't any monsters around.
'Probably in the caves and could also be the path leading deeper into the dungeon.'
Without hesitation, Caleb bolted forward, taking advantage of his super speed to bypass everyone else.
"What the… ?"
Naturally, his unnatural speed caught the attention of the adventurers moving in the same direction.
Only they weren't able to see what or who it was.
Caleb rushed into one of the caves, quickly plunging into a new environment that was dimmer than the outside, yet still bright enough for everyone to see.
With the light stones spread out in the caves, seeing was not a problem; not that Caleb even needed it.
Suddenly, he came to a stop when he reached a point that looked like a cliff.
[Approximately 82 meters]
His system pointed out what he wanted before he even asked. Even then, he had no problem zooming in to see.
'Yep, that's deep.'
There were obviously paths on the sides that led to the bottom of the cliff he could take, but what caught his attention was the small skirmishes happening down below.
Some adventurers, a party, were fighting a small number of monsters, and from what the system pointed appraised, the monsters were called Rockhide Lizards.
[Rockhide Lizards: A bulky, reptilian beast with a rocky exoskeleton and spiked tail. High defence, tail swipe attacks, and burrows underground to ambush prey]
[Weak to water and piercing weapons that penetrate its rocky armour.]
"Hmm… This should be a good monster for my first hunt."
Caleb muttered and prepared to descend.
The party down there were doing relatively well. They had a mage in the back firing long-ranged water attacks, one with a sword and a third member who played defense.
But he noticed that the party were being pushed back as the sword user was having difficulty penetrating the hide of the lizards.
"What are doing?! I can't aim at the monsters!"
"No shit! Try penetrating the hides of these things when your stamina keeps plunging down!"
"Guys, I can't keep on defending their tail swipes!"
This, in turn, made the mage's work more difficult, as the attacker couldn't hold down the lizards long enough for the water attacks to arrive.
As the party moved back and forth, trying to defeat the monsters, Caleb saw one of the monsters burrow into the ground and was fast approaching the mage in the back.
The monster had escaped the senses of the party as they were being overwhelmed.
"Time to make a move"
Caleb grinned slightly and then dashed speedily towards the party.
He didn't make a move out of the goodness of his heart, but because he wasn't ready to see intelligent beings being massacred before his eyes.
He was still an earthling and hadn't been in this world for long.
He wasn't ready to see that kind of bloodshed.
Of course, the monsters were a different story. To him, it was more like a game than anything.
There was no sense of danger around him as the strength and power he wielded were beyond what the people around him could fathom.
Meanwhile, the lizard monster appeared far behind the mage and slowly crawled towards the woman who remained busy with her water spells.
None of them were aware of what was coming.
However, as if by fate, the sword recoiled from an attack and was pushed back.
He turned around to ask for help, only for his heart to skip a beat in fear.
One of the Rockhide Lizards was already swinging its spiked tail at their mage and she had no idea what was coming.
"Riley!"
He bellowed loudly and attempted to get to her.
'Shit! I'm not going to make it!' he cursed with gritted teeth.
Their defender got a moment of respite and also turned around.
'Oh no…'
Unfortunately for him, he was too far and the monsters were not giving him a break.
'Dammit! I knew we were not ready to come here by ourselves!'
Riley noticed the rushed actions of her party members and knew something was wrong.
At that moment, she felt a presence behind her and turned her head around, only to be surprised by a tail already in her face.
"Fu…"
*BOOM!*
"NOO…!"
The two remaining members cried out as they feared the worst. But what was supposed to be a blown-out head with blood spilling all over was replaced by something else… or someone.
"What…?"
Right behind Riley was Caleb who appeared and captured the tail attack with his right hand, locking it in a firm grip that even took the monster by surprise.
"Hmm… Not all that powerful."
He barely felt anything when he caught the tail, not even a pang.
And before the flabbergasted trio, Caleb swung the monster away like a lie and dashed after the rest before they could assault the two males.
"W-who is that…?"
Riley muttered with shaky legs and fell on her ass in abject fear, nearly losing control of her bladder.
She was this close to dying and if it wasn't for the stranger, she would have become a memory.
Under their shocked gazes, they watched as Caleb arrived before one of the lizards and threw a punch straight at its face as it exploded in a gory of flesh and blood.
'Huh? Looks like I used too much power.'
He realized but didn't stop and bolted towards the next one that leapt at him with its tail already in a swing.
With a smirk, he sidestepped the attack and delivered a heavy palm strike to the side of the Rockhide lizard.
*CRACK!*
A loud cracking sound echoed in the space as Caleb shattered the rocky exoskeleton like glass.
*BOOM!*
Like a missile, the monster collided with the hard walls of the cave, damaging its exposed flesh as the monster bled all over.
*SCREECH!*
The monster cried in agony as its body took heavy damage and fell to the ground with a thud.
Without delay, it bolted away, leaving behind its comrades.
"Right, a few more to go…"
