Kim Jiyeon was punctual, as always. She strolled into the upscale café I'd chosen for our second meeting, her heels clicking against the tiled floor. Her expression was calm but curious, and I knew I had only a narrow window to sway her.
"Back so soon?" she asked, sliding into the chair opposite me. "I hope this isn't another pitch about how I can 'support' you at Zenith."
"It's not," I replied, keeping my tone light. "This time, it's about what I can do for you."
Her eyebrows lifted, but she didn't interrupt. I took that as my cue to continue.
"You've mastered the art of persuasion," I began, leaning forward slightly. "Your Charisma System is powerful there's no denying that. But you and I both know its limits. It shines in social settings, negotiations, and leadership roles, but what happens when that's not enough? When words fail?"
Her eyes narrowed. "Words don't fail if you know how to use them."
"True," I admitted. "But they're only one tool in your arsenal. Zenith Academy isn't just about charm or influence it's a place where power comes from results. If you align with me, I'll provide you with the data, strategies, and tactical support to make your words unbreakable."
She studied me for a long moment, her expression guarded. "You're offering to be my backup brain, is that it?"
"I'm offering a partnership," I clarified. "You bring the charisma; I bring the numbers. Together, we'll dominate every challenge Zenith throws at us. You'll have the influence to lead, and I'll make sure you always have the best plan in the room."
Her lips curved into a faint smile. "Clever. But why should I trust you? What's stopping you from using me to climb to the top and leaving me behind when I'm no longer useful?"
I'd expected this question. Jiyeon wasn't naive, and her instincts were razor-sharp. I met her gaze evenly.
"Because I know what I'm offering is just as important for me as it is for you," I said. "You saw the entrance tests. My Scholar System gives me the edge in analysis, but I can't sway people the way you can. Without someone like you, I'll always be playing catch-up in social dynamics. I don't want a lackey, Jiyeon I want an equal partner who can fill the gaps I can't."
Her expression softened slightly, but she was still cautious. "And what happens if we're forced to compete against each other? Zenith isn't exactly known for teamwork."
I smiled. "Then may the best strategist win. But until that day comes, we'll make each other stronger."
Jiyeon tapped her fingers on the table, considering. Finally, she leaned back and let out a small laugh.
"Alright, Seojun. I'll bite," she said. "But I have one condition."
"Name it."
"You give me full access to your Scholar System insights no holding back. If we're doing this, I need to know everything you know."
Her demand was steep but fair. It would mean giving her a glimpse into my greatest strength, but it was a risk worth taking.
"Deal," I said, extending my hand.
She shook it firmly, her smile sharp. "Then let's make some waves at Zenith."
Back at home that evening, I reviewed my system interface. Jiyeon's addition to my plans was a major victory, but the real battle would begin once we arrived at Zenith. Eunha was undoubtedly making her moves, and I couldn't afford to underestimate her.
The game had begun.
