Both of them came to the waiting platform where others waited for the train to come. The people of this world were very similar to the Humans living in Aki's world, but something kept both of it apart from each other. Aki couldn't figure it out yet, but he had surely felt a certain vibe from each person that he came across.
"You know," Emi finally decided to say something but paused for a moment.
"I used to be your wife."
Aki found himself turning red upon hearing Emi say this. He had never imagined this pretty girl to be his wife and now she was here, standing beside him, claiming to be someone whom he had never even met!
"That can't be, you know that right?"- said Aki in an attempt to clear things up.
"It's a long story Aki, and I was scared, that you'd never remember. All I have to do is try to make you remember,"- Said Emi.
Aki was starting to wonder if this girl had started to lose her mind, what was she even talking about? besides everything Aki had seen things much beyond his wildest imaginations, so he was starting to contemplate if this was just a dream. If so, he wanted to wake up!
Before Emi could continue, the Train suddenly arrived.
"I'll tell you on the train, let's go" Emi told Aki.
Everything inside the train too, resembled the human world. It felt like a mirror world just existing outside of the physical space that Aki had known his entire life. Emi led Aki to two seats that stood opposite to each other with a small stand table which stood between them. After they both got seated, Emi dug out a piece of paper which was wrapped around a rectangular shaped object. She undid the paper and took out a photo frame and showed it to Aki. Aki couldn't believe his eyes; it was a picture of him and Emi standing together in a single frame. The Aki in the picture looked a bit older though, which made him question if it really was him.
Emi finally broke the silence a little while after observing Aki take in the contents of the picture.
"That was me and you." began Emi.
"We both were young and happy; I met you when I was 15 and you were 16 at the time. we both were from different royal families, but it still made sense to me enough that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you." Emi paused for a moment.
Aki kept staring at her intently trying to take everything in.
"When we grew older, we both became close to each other. At that time, you used to work as a 'walker hunter'."
"what's that?" Aki asked.
"Walker hunters are usually a part of an organization called the Hunter society. It protects and exterminates walkers at any given time. The one you saw today was a walker too- A deadly one, you could say. These walkers came to life after an entity gave birth to them, many folklores have been rumored around regarding the origins of the walkers, but it could never be determined exactly at what caused it."
"So, you mean to say, I too had powers like you?"- Aki asked. He was a little hyped up at the thought of having cool powers just like the ones Emi had.
"yes" Emi said.
"You were the captain in charge of the 2nd battalion fleet."
Aki was surprised at everything Emi said.
"17 years ago, a huge number of deadly walkers emerged and started to attack everyone, they were ruthless at it-killing anyone that stood in their path. You and several other captains were tasked with saving the city and escorting all citizens to safety.
The battle took enough lives to be termed as a genocide and when everything seemed to be coming under control, another Walker had emerged into the warzone. It looked different than the other walkers and was a much stronger one. When all the attempts at taking down the walker failed, you burnt both yourself and the walker down together in your own magic. It was unlike anything anyone had ever seen." - Emily paused to drink some water.
"I couldn't accept your death; I didn't want to. For several months after that I still felt your presence, like you were always there with me. I couldn't bear the fact that I'd lost you, so I searched. I searched endlessly for you, any part of you would have been enough for me to accept your death. But no. as long as it were, I kept searching for you."- Emi said, her voice was nearly breaking as if she wanted to cry out, yell out his name and finally say 'Aki I've found you! I did good, didn't I?'
Aki could only helplessly stare at her as she kept on.
"Fortunately," Emi continued and paused to take a breath.
"Fortunately, with the help of a few friends, I found you living on the other side of the portal that connected both of these worlds. Somehow after that day you had lost all your powers and turned into a baby, almost as if you were reincarnated."
"I was so relieved that I'd finally found you, and you're here and you're breathing, I- I'm so happy."- Emi said, finally showing a little excitement.
Emi's words moved Aki; He got a bit teary after this and only wondered at what this girl might have gone through- searching for her husband all these years.
"I know, all this must be a lot to take in and of course I'm not here to kidnap you Aki. There are things that need our attention much more than our relationship right now."
Everything was indeed a lot to take in for Aki. He had seen things beyond his wildest imaginations that day, and then this girl came in and claimed herself to be his wife. Aki could no longer distinguish between what was real and what was not, He only hoped that his father was okay, waiting at home for his son's arrival, and that everything was going to turn back to normal.
