Chapter 1: Rebirth in Darkness
I slowly opened my eyes, groggily taking in my surroundings. I was met with an inky blackness that seemed to swallow everything in its path. My head pounded with a dull ache, as if my brain was being squeezed by an invisible vise.
As I struggled to sit up, a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me to lie back down. My memories were hazy, fragmented images that refused to coalesce into anything meaningful.
But one thing was certain – I was not where I was supposed to be. The last thing I remembered was...was...
A name echoed in my mind, sending shivers down my spine. "Xandros." The Demon King. That was me. Or at least, it was who I used to be.
How did I end up here? Where was "here," anyway? The questions swirled in my mind like a maelstrom, but I knew I had to keep moving forward. I had to reclaim my memories, my powers, and my rightful place as the Demon King.
With newfound determination, I pushed myself up, my eyes slowly adjusting to the darkness. I stumbled forward, my hands outstretched in front of me, searching for any sign of light or life.
As I moved, the air grew thick with an eerie, unnatural silence. I strained my ears, but there was no sound – no rustling of leaves, no distant rumble of thunder, no whispers of the wind.
The silence was oppressive, weighing heavily on my shoulders. I quickened my pace, desperate to find a way out of this desolate place.
Suddenly, a faint glow appeared in the distance. I stumbled toward it, my heart racing with anticipation.
As I drew closer, the light grew brighter, illuminating a figure standing before me. It was a woman, her face deathly pale, her eyes sunken with an otherworldly exhaustion.
She regarded me with a cold, calculating gaze. "Welcome, Xandros," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for you."
