Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Cold Command

Get out."

The command was as cold as ice, delivered with a voice so void of emotion it might as well have been a lifeless machine speaking.

Betty lay sprawled across the bed, her eyes wide in disbelief, staring at the back of the man standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window. The very same window that gave the beautiful view of New York's skyline—a view most would kill for, yet Alexander Qin seemed indifferent to it . His focus was solely on the city's expanse, his back turned to her as he continued to exude an air of utter detachment.

If anyone had seen who was on that bed at that very moment, they would have dropped dead from shock. Betty, the infamous and adored queen of entertainment. Known as Cutie Betty, with a face that resembled the innocence of a child, everyone around her believed she was a naive, untouched girl who didn't know anything about the world of intimacy. Little did they know, Betty was anything but innocent. In fact, she had worked tirelessly to land herself in that very room. But now, here she was, rejected and discarded in a manner that was almost unrecognizable.

"Why?" she asked, her voice soft but laced with confusion and a touch of pride. "If I may ask… why do you want me to leave?"

She sat up on the bed and tucked her legs underneath her, eyes studying his posture. She had admired him from afar, watched how women flocked to him like moths to a flame. Alexander Qin—the name was synonymous with power and desirability in the city of New York. He was every woman's dream, every man's envy. And yet, here he was, offering her nothing more than cold indifference.

She thought she had done everything right. She was beautiful, successful, and had the most flawless public image in the entire entertainment industry. Surely that was enough for a man like him. Yet, he didn't even spare her a glance. He had simply walked into the room, dismissed her without even acknowledging her presence, and stood in front of the window like he was the only thing that mattered.

"young lady , don't make me repeat myself," Alex's voice came again, his tone like a blade slicing through the air.

Betty's heart skipped a beat. There was something dangerous in his voice. Something that screamed that he was serious, that if she pushed him any further, he would not hesitate to throw her out with the same indifference he had shown up until now.

Alex's gaze remained fixed on the city skyline. His posture was rigid, almost military. He didn't look at her, not even for a second. He was used to women throwing themselves at him, to being the one with all the power, and he had no tolerance for anyone—especially women—wasting his time.

Betty's eyes narrowed slightly. She knew he was dangerous, but she wasn't one to back down. After all, she was Betty, and she didn't get rejected. Not by anyone, let alone a man like Alex Qin. She stood up, smoothing her dress down, a slight pout tugging at her lips as she walked towards the door.

"Okay… maybe next time," she said, forcing a smile even though he wasn't looking. She couldn't let him see that she was hurt. No. Betty was always in control. She was always in charge of her own narrative. If he wasn't interested in her now, she would make sure he would be one day. And when he came crawling back to her, it would be on her terms.

She tossed her hair over her shoulder, maintaining an air of confidence even though her mind raced. She had to prove to him, and to herself, that she wasn't someone who could be easily dismissed. No one had ever rejected her so coldly. And she would make sure it never happened again.

As she stepped out of the room, she saw Kelvin, Alex's assistant, walking toward the door at a brisk pace. He didn't look at her, didn't acknowledge her at all, but she could feel his presence as if it was an additional weight pressing down on her chest.

Betty raised her chin, straightened her shoulders, and walked with a slow, deliberate grace—one that screamed "I am untouchable, I am the prize here."

But Kelvin, in his usual fashion, was unbothered by her. He didn't glance in her direction and continued walking toward the door, his expression cool and collected.

"I will…" she began, trying to maintain some semblance of control, but she was cut off before she could finish her sentence.

"Please excuse me, Miss Betty," Kelvin said, his voice polite but firm, "I'll attend to you later. I need to speak with my boss right now."

He was not rude, but there was no denying the haste in his movements. He wasn't waiting around to be caught up in whatever drama was unfolding. He was here for one reason: his boss. And Betty, it seemed, was no longer part of the equation.

Betty couldn't help but feel a small twinge of satisfaction. She was starting to feel like she was in control again. She knew this situation wasn't over. She would get Alex's attention, and when she did, it would be on her terms.

She smiled sweetly, almost mischievously. "Alex was so rough with me and he could not hold it for too long because , I was sweeter than he expected ," she said with a wink, looking over her shoulder as she swayed her hips slightly. "Next time, though… next time will be different."

She could almost feel the weight of his gaze on her as she walked away, even though he wasn't looking at her. Oh yes, next time, she thought. Next time, Alexander Qin would be hers.

Kelvin raised an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed with her antics, but he didn't respond. He only shook his head slightly with a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

He knocked on the door with a soft rap, and almost immediately, he heard the cold, emotionless voice of his boss.

"Come in," Alex said, and even those two simple words were like a chilling gust of wind.

Kelvin swallowed nervously. He knew what was coming.

He opened the door and stepped into the room, only to be greeted by the sight of Alex standing in front of the glass, his black suit sharp and immaculate, the kind of power suit only a man like him could wear. His hands were in his pockets, his jaw tight, his eyes focused on the city below. He looked like a king surveying his domain—cold, ruthless, and utterly detached from anything around him.

Kelvin couldn't help but feel a shiver run down his spine. This was a man who felt no warmth, no need for kindness. Everything about him screamed power, and it was terrifying.

"Sir, it's been done," Kelvin said quickly, his words clipped, as if the faster he spoke, the sooner he could get out of this room. He felt the air in here pressing down on him, suffocating him. He had to leave, had to get away from this ominous atmosphere.

Alex turned slightly but didn't look at Kelvin. He simply nodded, as if acknowledging the information without any emotion.

"Hmm," was all Alex said.

Then, without any further pleasantries, he turned fully, walking toward the center of the room. His eyes narrowed as he looked at the assistant. "We have another problem to deal with."

Kelvin felt his heart race, even more so than before. He wasn't sure what his boss was talking about, but he knew better than to question the man. It was clear that whatever this man had in mind was going to be dangerous, but he didn't ask for clarification. He'd learned long ago that it was better to simply obey.

"Yes, sir," Kelvin said, not daring to press for more details.

Alex's eyes flashed with something unreadable, a gleam that spoke of a mind constantly calculating, a man always several steps ahead. Kelvin couldn't help but feel a chill settle deeper in his bones. Whatever his boss's "problem" was, it was sure to be something no one would want to be caught in the middle of.

As Alex walked to his desk, his mind was already on the next steps. He didn't need to explain himself to anyone. They either understood, or they didn't. He was already thinking about his next move, planning, plotting. He had no time for distractions.

Kelvin nodded and quickly exited, the door clicking shut behind him.

Alex turned back to the window, his silhouette dark against the city lights. There were still many things to do, and Alexander Qin was never one to waste time.

The night was just beginning. And for Betty, this was only the start.
