I adjusted in my seat as I felt the stares from the council members and Claire. This was my first official meeting with them after Jax and I mated and to say I was anxious was an understatement. Jax was seated beside me with his hand on mine. We weren't holding hands but he had whispered earlier that we needed to show a united front. Whatever that meant. We were not united in the slightest. In fact I hadn't seen him since our big fight.
He didn't even come back to tell me that my room was ready. He didn't want to speak to me at all. Not even the time I saw him walking down the hallway and I tried to greet him. He just breezed past me lol I wasn't there. Or the time he and Claire were discussing in the living room. That was the most hurtful time. They were talking and laughing and when I tried to say something they both got up and left, hand in hand.
