Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Ghosts of Misty Valley

The morning mist hung like a veil over the misty valley, and I stood at the door of the manor house, breathing deeply and trying to calm my anxiety. Last night was like a nightmare, but I know that the dark forces are real. I must uncover the secrets of the manor, or I may never escape this curse.

I stepped into the house, determined to begin my investigation. In the hall, the heavy family tree lay quietly on the table, as if waiting for me to uncover its secrets. I turned to my family tree, page by page, looking for the record of my grandfather, but the key page was missing, leaving only a blank.

"That's impossible." I muttered, my anxiety spreading like wildfire.

I decided to look for clues in the estate library. There is a collection of books and documents from the family through the ages, perhaps you can find a record of the grandfather. As I walked through the corridor, every step echoed, as if invisible eyes were watching me.

The library doors creaked open and dust danced in the light through the Windows. I walked in and the shelves were full of dusty books, quietly guarding the secrets of the estate. I started flipping through a copy of the book, hoping to find some clues.

"What are you looking for?" A husky voice suddenly sounded.

I looked back and saw an old man in an old-fashioned butler's uniform standing in the doorway, his eyes deep, as if he could read people's hearts.

"I... I'm looking for information about my grandfather." I stammered in reply.

The old man nodded and walked slowly toward me. "Your grandfather, he was a great man, but he also carried a heavy secret."

"What do you know?" I asked eagerly.

The old man sighed and took down a worn diary from the shelf. "This is your grandfather's diary. Perhaps you can find the answer in it."

I took the diary. The leather on the cover was worn, but the writing was still clear. I opened my diary and read the pages of my grandfather's handwriting, which was sloppy and hurried, as if he were recording something urgent.

"I must find that thing. The fate of our family depends on it..." As I read the diary, I became more and more nervous.

"What's that thing?" I looked up and asked the old man.

The old man shook his head. "I don't know, but your grandfather warned you not to delve into family secrets."

I closed my diary and was filled with doubts. I knew that if I didn't uncover the secret, I might never get rid of the curse.

"I must go to the mountains." 'I said suddenly.

The old man frowned: "Mountains? It is a forbidden place for the family and is rumored to be haunted by ghosts."

"I must go." I said firmly.

The old man was silent for a moment, then finally nodded, "All right, I'll take you, but you must be careful."

We went through the back door of the manor and into the thick forest. The trees are tall and dense, and the sunlight can only cast dappled shadows through the cracks in the leaves. We walked along a path lined with thick bushes that seemed to be whispering.

"Did you hear that?" I asked the old man nervously.

The old man stopped and listened. "It's the wind, don't worry."

But I could sense that it wasn't just the wind, that there was something else spying on us. I quickened my pace, my heart beating.

We finally came to the foot of the hill, where an old stone bridge spanned the stream. The old man stopped and pointed to the other end of the stone bridge: "That is the forbidden area, I can not accompany you across."

I nodded, took a deep breath, and stepped onto the stone bridge. The stone bridge creaked underfoot, as if it might break at any moment. I walked carefully across the stone bridge to the entrance to the forbidden place.

The Forbidden Land was a deserted field with a ruined altar in the center. I went up to the altar and found it covered with strange symbols that seemed to speak of ancient incantations.

"What do these symbols mean?" I muttered to myself.

Suddenly, a cold wind blew and the symbols on the altar began to glow. I felt a powerful surge of power, as if some ancient power had been awakened.

"Get out of there! The old man's voice came from a distance.

I turned to leave, only to find myself pinned to the altar by an invisible force. I felt a cold force rush through my body and my body began to stiffen.

'No! With the last of my strength, I let out a roar.

At that moment, I felt a warm force rush through my body, which fought against the cold force and allowed me to regain control. I opened my eyes and found myself lying on the altar, the sun shining through the clouds on my face.

I sat up and felt dizzy. I looked around and saw that everything on the altar was as it had been, as if it had all been a dream.

But I knew I couldn't run away, that I had to face this family secret, no matter where it took me.

I stood up and walked out of the forbidden area, ready to begin my quest. I know there are many secrets hidden in this estate, and I have only just begun to uncover the tip of the iceberg.

I took a deep breath and took firm steps. No matter how many unknowns and dangers lie ahead, I will face them bravely, for this is my family and my destiny.
