Uh… Hello, I'm Go Kang Soo. This is my first time posting here because I usually just read and comment. Today I'm going to tell you a story about a time when I was traveling in Thailand and came across a strange thing that will make me remember it until I die.
Two weeks ago, I had a conversation with a close friend who is Thai. His name is James. I met James when I was at university. He came to study here and met while studying at a club. James is a very friendly person. So, it made me and him quite close.
After graduating, James returned to Thailand to help with the family business. We still contact each other sometimes, but not that often because due to responsibilities, our free time doesn't match.
Four days before going, I talked with James, and we talked about tourist attractions. At the time we talked, it was near New Year's Day and my company and James's workplace were on holiday, so we thought we'd go hang out for a bit.
At first, I thought I'd just go to Europe, but with the travel expenses it was very expensive, plus I'd only been working for a year, so it was better to change to a trip closer.
James then offered to let me travel to Thailand and he would be my guide. I think this is a good idea. Because I will get to meet James and have a tour guide as well. Plus, you don't have to pay for accommodation because you sleep at James' house for free. So, I agreed and set up an appointment on a date.
On the day of departure, I arrived in Thailand on December 24th, which was Christmas Eve. I arrived around 3 a.m. in Thailand and James was waiting to pick me up at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
When I got home, I met his family. Everyone is very friendly and lovely. They welcomed me well. In the morning, we ate together before they took me to tour the city first and then go to the provinces for the next three days.
James said that at first, he was going to take him to another province, but the grandchild of his close friend's grandmother got married so he had to go to this province. I wasn't impressed with anything at all. Just being able to travel is enough.
When the day came to travel to other provinces, we left early in the morning. The province that we are going to is in the northern region of Thailand.
From Bangkok, it takes a day to travel because the distance is almost 600 kilometers and the route is quite Traffic jams, so it takes a long time.
When we arrived at our destination, as soon as my legs touched the ground, I immediately twisted my body to relieve my stiffness before picking up my things and putting them away inside the house.
Let me explain first. James' home in the provinces is quite different from his home in Bangkok. The house in Bangkok is a house designed in a minimalist style. The whole house is in a village with an area of about a certain size. As for here, the main house, as his mother calls it, is a raised wooden house or what they call a Thai-style house. Looking out to the back, there was another Thai-style house that looked the same, not far from each other, that Mother called the second house. The surrounding area is a wide-open space. There is a small vegetable garden next to it that is a garden to sit in. It can be said to be quite large.
When we went up to the main house, we met a grandmother. His name is Grandma Iam, the elder sister of Grandma Oil, James' grandmother. Grandma Iam and Grandma Oil are not much different in personality. They are talkative, playful, and funny. So, it instantly made me feel relieved.
In the afternoon, we went out to eat with Uncle Iam's eldest son as the dealer. At that time, it made me realize that besides Grandma Iam who lived in this house, there were other people as well.
After eating, Mom took James and me to buy clothes at a department store in the city for the wedding of Grandma Oil's close friend's grandchild. At first, I wondered why I had to buy it in the city. James said that in most provinces if you don't use famous districts or tourist zones, there aren't many department stores or supermarkets. There are mostly grocery stores or fresh markets. But not every province is like this. It also depends on the province.
After we finished shopping, we went straight home, but on the way, Mom stopped by a house first, which was the house of my best friend, Grandma Oil.
From now on I will call you Grandma Rim. When we arrived at Grandma Rim's house, I looked around and surveyed the surrounding area.
Grandma Rim's house is a two-story raised house. The upper layer is wood, and the lower layer is cement. The area around the house is decorated with colorful neon lights. A full-sized sound system and tents, tables and chairs for entertaining guests. Or what they call a Chinese table.
While we were waiting for Mom, who was talking with Grandma Rim, we met a man and a woman who were tomorrow's bride and groom.
Grandma Rim introduced them to us. On the side of the woman who is the real grandchild, her name is Muay. As for men who are fans of women, the name of the game.
While talking, I suddenly felt something strange. I don't know if I just thought about it or not, but I secretly saw that on the second floor, in the back room of the house, there was someone secretly watching us.
I tried to look but had to look away because Muay suddenly turned and spoke to me in a solemn tone.
"Is there something wrong?"
I was confused because I couldn't translate and had to ask for help from a friend before James bent down and whispered a translation.
"Uh… nothing," I replied in my discordant accented Thai. Muay heard this and smiled widely before turning to talk to his girlfriend as if nothing had happened.
The incident just now made me frown immediately. Her eyes and voice just now gave me strange goosebumps.
When I got home, I talked about this with James. He agreed with me that he felt that Muay looked strange. It's like the symptoms of someone who has something to hide. But that's all I thought about, maybe it was nothing.
The next day in the morning, we woke up and got dressed for Muay and Game's wedding. When we arrived at the event, we sat and waited at the table that he had prepared for us.
Let me explain first. Thai weddings are not much different from Korean ones, with only some additional ceremonies, such as the procession. The dowry counting ceremony and then the monk ceremony is just that.
In the morning the wedding ceremony proceeded smoothly. Then while I was standing in the house waiting for the car, I suddenly thought of turning to look at the same room on the second floor. I stood staring for no reason when the closed window suddenly opened and slammed against the wooden wall with a loud noise that shook me out of my trance.
I strained my eyes to see what was causing the window to open. But while he was staring, an arm wearing a white lace-sleeved shirt suddenly appeared and pulled the window back shut.
When I saw this, I immediately frowned. I don't know why that sleeve looks so familiar. I tried to think for a long time but couldn't figure it out until James came to catch me in the car and go home.
The next day we still had to go to the wedding again. We will go to this event in the evening.
While riding in the car to the event, the adults in the car talked all the way.
"Oh, oil, do you remember Mew?"
"Mew? Who?"
"Muay's twins." The grandmother's words made me furrow my eyebrows. Even though I couldn't translate all the words, I could understand that he was talking about Muay. I turned to ask for help from the person next to me who was driving. James explains to him that what the grandmothers are talking about are Muay's twins. Her name is Mew and she is the younger twin. She is a neat person in this house.
It's strange. She was supposed to come to her older sister's wedding, but she didn't. Plus no one talks about her.
Arriving at the event, dozens of cars were fully parked on both sides of the road inside the alley, causing traffic to become quite congested. The car moved slowly. James and I looked around and looked for a parking space in the alley, but it seemed full. James parked his car in front of an arch where two or three men were sitting and opened the mirror.
"Excuse me, where can I park my car?"
They turned to look before a man walked towards the car. "Park over there. This place is full." He pointed ahead, nearly a hundred meters away.
"Thank you, Grandma. Get off here. I'll go find a place to park first."
"Oh, what about you?"
"I'll park the car first, Kang Soo. You can go down with Grandma." I nodded in response before getting out of the car.
Grandma and I walked up to the entrance of the ceremony and found the elders including the bride and groom standing and waiting to welcome the guests. While the grandmothers were standing and talking, my eyes suddenly glanced at the window on the second floor. I suddenly thought of yesterday's events. An incident where a window on the second floor suddenly opened and someone reached out to close it. It should be normal if the hand that reaches to cover is not wearing the same dress as the bride. Or maybe I misunderstood. Just go up and change clothes or do personal business, that's all.
"Hey you, Let's go."
"Yes," Grandma Oil turned around and called out. I walked past the people there and raised my hand in a small salute. But as he walked past, his eyes fell on Muay, who from the beginning still looked smiling, but when he saw me, her smile suddenly closed before changing back to a wide smile with hard eyes.
I got goosebumps when I saw this, but I had to force a smile back so as not to take the other person's notice. Damn, this woman looks scary no matter how she looks.
We came and sat at the table inside the event. And it seems like work will start for a while. As the banquet progressed, food was gradually served in rounds.
Meanwhile, I suddenly felt the urge to go to the bathroom. I turned to ask James before James turned to ask Mom.
"I have to go into the house, son. It's full outside." Mom's answer made me gulp immediately.
But in the end, I had to go in without choice because at this point, I could hardly hold my bladder. James turned and asked at first if he was going to be friends too, but I said it was fine.
I got up from the table and walked towards the house. Reaching out, he opened the back door of the house and looked around. Inside the house, it was completely dark and almost impossible to see, with only some lights around the house being open. I narrowed my eyes and reached out to fumble for the light switch before the lights turned on.
He took a moment to do business before walking out. As I reached out to turn off the light to leave the house, I suddenly heard something. I stood still and tried to listen. It was like the sound of someone softly shrieking from above on the second floor.
Bang!!!
The sound of the window being opened with such force that it made a loud noise and made me flinch. At that time, I was so scared that I even wanted to run, but some inspiration told me to go up to the second floor.
I stood still for a moment and thought again and again about whether I should go up. But when I think about it again, what if the sound I heard came from a real person? What if he's trying to get help? In the end, I decided to go up to the house immediately even though I knew that I shouldn't.
The two feet slowly walked up the stairs so as not to make a sound, but the noise from the work outside drowned out the sound of the feet inside the house to the point that they could hardly be heard at all.
Arriving upstairs, in front of the stairs was a window that was closed. To the left were two rooms next to each other, and behind the stairs was another room. A small whistle sounded from the room next to the stairs. I stopped at the front and took a deep breath before opening the door.
Inside the open room, on the right side was a closet. On the left side, there was a large white cloth stretched out. Light from the small window above filtered in, revealing some shadows behind the large cloth.
I took a closer look and looked at it like it was a body floating in the air. But it was strange that anyone could float in the air except…
To clear my doubts, I decided to open the cloth, but was shocked because what I saw was a woman in a white dress tied to a house beam!
Before I could even cry out, the figure slowly turned around before suddenly falling in front of me.
I saw this and screamed until I fell to the ground. At that time, I was so shocked that I couldn't do anything. I tried to stay calm but suddenly I heard something coming from below.
"Hey! Who's up there?!" The voice of an unfamiliar man came from downstairs. "I asked who!!" The angry tone of his voice made me immediately know that the person below would not be nice. I looked around until I stopped at the closet behind me.
I decided to open the closet before hiding in there. Even though I didn't want to do this, for safety reasons I couldn't choose.
"Shit!! What the hell?" The man was extremely shocked. He walked towards the figure before he tried to do anything to it. But with the little light and having to look through the closet hole, I couldn't see well.
The moment the man turned to pick up the cloth, something suddenly appeared behind him. I tried to look through the closet and saw that it was the headless body of a woman standing.
While the man didn't notice She reached out and touched his face before bending his neck back until she heard a loud bang.
Not only that, and she also twisted the man's limbs in different directions until they were deformed before twisting his upper body backward until he fell.
At that time, I was very scared, but I quickly put my hand over my mouth so that no sound could escape.
A headless figure slowly walked toward the closet where I was hiding. She reached out and pulled the closet door open, but luckily, I had the lock on it preventing her from opening it.
But I think that luck didn't last long because what she did scared me to the point of going into shock. She shook the door of her clothes until it shook, and when she looked directly at the back of the head that was still tied to the wooden beam, she opened its mouth and screamed. But what was even more frightening was that the head that was still tied to the rope wasn't just there. it swayed back and forth like the pendulum of a clock.
My body shakes from the shaking. I tried to cover my mouth tightly with my hand so that no sound could escape. But because of the fear that it was so much, my consciousness was scattered. At that time, I could only pray to God in my heart, not knowing if it would help or not.
But heaven seemed to know my desire. A loud sound came from downstairs as a familiar call approached, along with a commotion and the closet door being opened. It was discovered that it was James and the elders who had come to help.
"Kang Soo!! Kang Soo!! It's okay, we're here to help."
I was taken out of the closet. His eyes caught sight of a headless body lying motionless in front of the closet. I was taken out of the house shortly before the police and paramedics arrived.
At that time, because of fear, he lost consciousness. I couldn't even tell the police or give a statement. Until I had to wait another day before I calmed down.
After the incident was over, my mother came to tell me about it. The corpse I saw was that of a pig. When I heard this, I was shocked because the bride at the event we saw was not Muay, but another twin named Mew.
It happened because Muay was already a fan of the game and they both planned to get married. And then when the day came that Mew brought his boyfriend to talk to the family, that day happened to be the same day that Mew and he came home.
When she encountered the game, she liked him. At first, she secretly went and talked to the game, but the game didn't play with her. So, she had to find a way to deal with her twins.
At first, Mew planned to just drug the game, but Mew found out about it first, causing the plan to fall apart. Therefore, the two have a violent quarrel and in the end, Mew accidentally kills Mew.
With no other choice, she decided to set the scene as suicide. But because she was a woman, I couldn't do anything easily, so I hired three other male friends, who were the people we had asked for a parking spot in the evening. Come help and keep an eye on this room.
After that, she switched to Muay. She acted like she was a Muay and told everyone that Mew couldn't come to the wedding because she had urgent business.
Mom said that at first Mew's plan would have almost come to fruition if I hadn't come up and found him first.
I asked Mom why the upper body and head of her were separated.
Mew confessed that on the day of the engagement, after finishing work, she went up to that room to bring Mew's body down. But for some unknown reason, she couldn't get it down, which made Mew irritated so she tried to pull herself, causing the rope tied to her neck to rub against each other, causing her throat to almost tear.
As for the incident that I encountered, my mother said that the sound I heard before going up to the second floor might have been a sign of something from Muay who wanted me to meet and help him. But maybe because when he died, he died badly and came in that condition, which made me so afraid that I was shocked.
After that incident, Mew and his friends were arrested by the police on charges of assaulting another person to death and working together to conceal a corpse. As for the game, he had to return home before marrying the real bride.
