Chapter 1 - CHAPTER:1 THE APOCALYPSE

I just don't know why I'm still alive," Hazel said, lying on the hospital bed with a drip passing through his hand. Hazel, an 18-year-old boy, had spent half his life in the hospital due to heart disease. Although he was meant to be dead, he miraculously remained alive, and no one could explain why or how. However, he continued to suffer from heart disease.

"The hospital is very quiet tonight; did all the night workers go to bed early? Either way, I should go check on her," Hazel thought aloud to himself. He removed some of the machines and materials connected to him, not caring if he died, as he had always expected death. Hazel left only the drip attached and walked down the dark hospital hall.

"This is unusual; why are the lights off? They normally keep the lights on for the other patients in the hospital who might still be awake, or have they all gone to bed?" Hazel wondered. He approached a door and entered without knocking.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to leave your bed?" a sweet voice said from a young, beautiful lady with pink glowing hair, known as Miss Ivy. She sat on a chair, working on a computer, and seemed to be studying something important.

"You know, I just can't stay there. It's too boring, and you didn't tell me you'd be on the night shift today," Hazel replied to Miss Ivy.

"Why do you think I didn't want to tell you? You're not even worried about your condition," Miss Ivy said.

"We both know I'll still be alive with or without the machine; I'm a beloved of God," Hazel said, and Miss Ivy replied, "Very funny. Now, go back to your bed, or I won't come to check on you tomorrow."

"Fine, fine, I'm going," Hazel replied. As he left the apartment where Miss Ivy was staying and walked down the hall, he suddenly heard a loud noise, like someone was fighting, coming from Miss Ivy's apartment. Without a second thought, he ran toward the apartment, drip still in hand, disregarding his health.

Almost reaching the door, he started coughing up blood, but he didn't let that stop him. He entered the apartment, and what he saw was something he had never encountered before: Death, also known as the Grim Reaper, held Miss Ivy's throat tightly while backing away from Hazel. It was clear the Reaper was about to take her life.

Hazel wasn't ready to watch as the Reaper killed her. Looking around to see how he could help, he spotted a weird-looking blade on the floor. As he rushed to pick it up, the Grim Reaper snapped Miss Ivy's neck. Hazel was furious.

With no time for the Reaper to react, Hazel stabbed him straight in the heart, dealing a fatal blow. However, the Reaper retaliated with his last bit of strength, stabbing Hazel. Both Hazel and the Reaper fell to the ground, the Reaper tumbling out the window since he was close to the edge.

As Hazel lost consciousness, he thought, "I don't mind dying, but I wish I could have saved her. She should be alive instead of me." The last thing he remembered was the sound of his own heartbeat fading away.

Then, a system message appeared: "[System installation complete.] [Congratulations on becoming a player.]" Hazel wondered, "What is this? Am I being congratulated for finally dying?"

The next message read: "[You have killed a high-ranking player; therefore, your levels have increased.], {Skills have now entered infinity} [Concealment as taken action, all your skills will remain at level 1]°" Hazel was confused. "What are all these messages and voices in my head?"

The system continued: "[You are now at level 10. New skill unlocked: Dead Summoning Lv1.] [A dead body with a mysterious power level is available for summoning.]" Then, a prompt appeared: "[Would you like to summon the Blossom Queen?]" Hazel replied, "Yes."

After saying yes, Miss Ivy's lifeless body disappeared, and her body reappeared, slowly emerging from the ground. It had a symbol on it, and she was filled with life. She wore a black-pink dress, and her hair matched the dress. She also held a sword with the same colors.

Hazel was in shock. He couldn't believe his eyes.

The scene shifted to a hospital room, where Hazel found himself lying on a bed, surrounded by doctors and officers. "Good morning, Mister Hazel Willow," a doctor said. Hazel's head hurt, and he slowly sat up.

"Ahh, my head hurts," Hazel said, still disoriented. The doctors and officers stared at him, concerned. Hazel's eyes widened as he remembered Miss Ivy. "Miss Ivy, where is she? How is she?" he shouted, panic rising in his voice.

The doctors urged Hazel to calm down, and eventually, they told him what he dreaded

"...I hate to break it to you, but Miss Ivy is no more," the doctor said with a gentle voice and a caring tone. "I'm really sorry."

Hazel burst into tears, overcome with grief.

"Come on, stop crying. Look at the bright side: your heart disease is gone," the doctor said, trying to calm Hazel. "Although we don't know how that happened."

Just then, a system message appeared, broadcasted to everyone in the world: "[Your world is about to be overtaken by monsters and all sorts of beings. Please prepare and get ready, for this will happen in 24 hours. In these 24 hours, you will be given a list of jobs that will grant you safety in this apocalypse world. Please be sure to pick one, for this is not a joke.]"

The whole world erupted into chaos, with people asking questions and seeking answers.

"What is going on? What is this? Is this going to actually happen?" people asked.

The head officer present in Hazel's room exclaimed, "What the f*ck is this now again?" and immediately left with the other officers to address the crisis.

As people around the world chose their jobs, some refused to believe the message and didn't select a job. With only 20 minutes left before the monsters emerged, Hazel decided to pick a job for himself. However, he was unable to do so, receiving a notification that read: "[Warning: player already has a job]."

Hazel approached the doctor and asked, "Please, can I go see Miss Ivy one last time?" The doctor allowed it, knowing the strong bond between Hazel and Miss Ivy.

With only five minutes left before the apocalypse, Hazel stood by Miss Ivy's dead body, feeling sorrowful. "I wish I could have saved you. You should be alive instead of me."

Just then, the world around them began to change. A loud noise, like an explosion, marked the beginning of the apocalypse. Monsters emerged, wreaking havoc and destruction.

Hazel received another system message: "[Player has successfully taken the position of the Grim Reaper]. [Player is at level 10. New skill unlocked: Dead Summoning Lv1]. [A dead body with a mysterious power level is available for summoning]."

The message prompted Hazel to summon the Blossom Queen, and he replied, "Yes."

As he did, Miss Ivy's lifeless body disappeared and reappeared, emerging from the ground with a symbol on it. She was filled with life, wearing a black-pink dress and holding a sword with the same colors.

Hazel stared in shock, unsure of what to make of the situation.
