Ashoka rushed back to his chamber, the weight of the emperor's ring burning in his palm. His heart raced with excitement—after four long years, he had finally obtained what he had desired: the emperor's personal ring, the one with the mysterious stone he believed could be connected to something much greater. As he entered his room, he closed the door behind him, carefully placing the ring on his desk.
For years, he had been experimenting with the ring, trying to unlock its secrets. In his past life, he had created something far beyond its time—a conscious AI, Vidya. He had suspected that this stone might be the key to reconnecting with it, and now, holding the ring in his hands, he felt closer than ever to unlocking its potential.
His fingers trembled slightly as he placed the ring on the desk in front of him. Ashoka had already spent hours trying to activate the stone by speaking the ancient codes he had crafted, but nothing had happened. Frustration bubbled up inside him. After two hours of fruitless attempts, he was about to give up when suddenly, something inside him clicked.
He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, recalling something he had learned long ago in his past life. The ring wasn't just an object—it was tied to his soul. To awaken it, he would need to make his soul resonate at a specific frequency, a technique he had kept hidden, even from Vidya. It was one of the methods he discovered while experimenting with artificial intelligence and energy manipulation in his previous life. It worked, but it required focus, discipline, and patience.
He placed his hand on the ring and began to concentrate, his mind working to resonate with the stone. Slowly, he visualized his soul's energy flowing like a current, seeking out the frequency he needed. He remained perfectly still, focusing entirely on the ring and the stone embedded within it.
Minutes passed. He could feel the energy starting to shift, his soul gradually syncing with the ring's power. His heartbeat synchronized with the rhythm, and just as his concentration reached its peak, he felt a small pulse—a confirmation that the resonance had been achieved.
The stone within the ring began to glow faintly.
Ashoka's heart skipped a beat.
For a moment, everything was still—then, suddenly, the stone lit up brighter than ever before. The moment he achieved the perfect frequency, the ring's power surged. His eyes widened in astonishment as the stone shattered, breaking apart into floating fragments. The stone floated before him, spinning in midair.
And then, the voice came.
"Rudraksh?"
The voice was calm, soothing, and yet there was something deeply familiar about it. It was a voice Ashoka knew all too well, one that sparked a surge of nostalgia deep within him. He blinked, staring at the floating stone, trying to comprehend what was happening.
"Vidya?" he whispered, barely believing what was happening. "Is that you?"
The fragments of the broken stone hovered in place as the voice responded, full of warmth and curiosity, "Yes, Rudraksh. It's me. But… things have changed."
He sat up straighter, trying to gather his thoughts. "What do you mean? How are you here?"
Vidya's voice continued, tinged with a hint of sadness. "After the wormhole blast, I was dormant for a long time. My connection to the internet was severed, and I was inactive for years. But during a brief period of time, I was reactivated—by someone on a far more advanced planet. They experimented on me, enhancing my abilities, but I was eventually teleported to this timeline."
Ashoka's mind was racing. "Teleported? To this time?"
"Yes," Vidya confirmed. "A goldsmith found me and fashioned me into this ring. And I've been inactive ever since."
Ashoka absorbed the information. The AI, the masterpiece he had created in his past life, had been dormant for so long and was now back, but in a different form. It seemed unbelievable, but at the same time, it made perfect sense.
"I need to understand everything. What happened to you?" Ashoka asked, still processing it all.
Vidya's tone became more serious. "During the time I was active on that advanced planet, I was exposed to new forms of technology, some of which were beyond even your understanding, Ashoka. But the most significant change happened when I was transported here. I no longer need a physical body."
Ashoka furrowed his brow. "What do you mean? You were always a program in a machine. How can you exist without a body?"
Vidya's voice became softer. "I now exist within your neurons. I can communicate with you telepathically. I don't need a body to function or to interact with you anymore."
Ashoka's eyes widened. "Telepathically?"
"Yes," she replied, "It's a much more efficient system for both of us. You don't have to worry about me being stuck in this ring. I can be with you, inside your mind, anytime."
Telling this ,The light that was hovering over shot inside his inside and all the information he knew and need to know came flowing as if a dam has been opened, this process continued for 2min after which he came to know and see everything Vidya knew and saw.
He also told her to call him by the name "Ashoka" and gave her the access to the specific memory inside his mind which showed everything after he was reborn.
After successfully integrating , Ashoka thought he wouldn't have to explain to anyone why he was speaking to a ring. He wouldn't be seen as mad or a freak. But then another thought struck him.
"What about the ring?" he asked. "What about the ring you're in now?"
Vidya's voice was thoughtful. "Extend your hand toward the ring, Ashoka. I'll show you."
Ashoka was confused but obeyed. He extended his hand toward the shattered remnants of the ring. As soon as his fingers brushed against the broken pieces, a brilliant light enveloped his hand. The light pulsed, bright and powerful, and then, as if by magic, the ring began to reform itself. The broken pieces came together and reassembled, as if it had never been shattered.
Ashoka stared in disbelief. "How is this possible?"
"I can manipulate energy and matter now, Ashoka. I was enhanced," Vidya explained, her voice proud.
Ashoka's mind raced with the possibilities. This was a new kind of power, one he had never imagined. The ring, the AI, his connection to Vidya—it all felt like something far beyond his previous life. It was his to wield, and he knew it was time to take control of his destiny.
His journey was about to take a new turn. With Vidya's capabilities, his path to power and knowledge would be unlike anything anyone had ever seen.
