Grabbing everything I'd need for today I closed my dormitory door behind me and left for the academy.
"Hey what do you think you'll be able to stay in the top ten spot?"
The boy approached me as I exited from my room.
Grim Adam was the name of the boy who approached me and he could be considered my one and only friend in the academy.
"Of course, do you even know who I am."
I said as I clicked the elevator button and stepped in.
"Bro, I'm just worried about you, you know with all the new students I doubt you'll be able to keep your spot even with your strength. Those new students are monster, man."
Adam stepped into the elevator with me and gestured with his hand to emphasize his claim.
"That just sounds like you're doubting me. I'm powerful too, you know."
I sarcastically stated as the elevator reached the bottom floor and the doors opened.
"I'm just saying elves are known for their Shadow Demon's supernatural powers, dwarfs are known for their sturdy and strong Shadow Demon's, and Dragons are known to just be power houses whether it be their Shadow Demon or themselves,"
"I just don't think you nor any of the top ten talents, except the number one, stand a chance in keeping your spots."
Adam raised his hands whilst he walked next to me out of the dormitory building and towards the academy building.
"Ah, don't you think you might be talking a little bit too loud."
I whispered into his ear as we both looked around us at the other human students who were eyeing us.
"Oh, heh sorry I gotta go."
Zooming off as fast as he could Adam left me in the dust.
"Really."
*****
Opening the class A-1 room I was met with many different people and groups.
'Sadly Adam is in class B-1 so I don't really have any friends in class.'
Walking towards the back of the class like regular I sat a seat away from another one of the ten talents.
His name was Floyd Renvlair the number one of the ten talents whose looks equal matched his insane power.
His golden hair on his head bounced every ray of light off of it as it practically blinded anyone who looked at it for too long.
His head was rested on the desk he sat at and his blue eyes where closed.
'He has always sat here since the second day of school.'
I placed my stuff under my desk as usually and waited for class to begin.
Bang
Right as I turned my head to look out the window on my left, I heard as bang to my right and subconsciously swung my head in it's direction.
To my surprise I saw a hand on Floyd's desk and I saw Floyd's rested body was no sitting upright from the shock of the loud sound.
The perpetrator of the loud sound happened to be one of the transfer students who had now come to confront the number one in the academy/
The girl's hand had slammed against the top of his desk and had caused all chatter around to abruptly stop as everyone's head turned to look at the situation.
"I heard you are the number one of the ten talents doesn't that make you the best first-year?"
The elf girl asked.
"I guess."
Floyd replied to her plainly.
"Well then I challenge you to a duel. Do you accept?"
Already on the first day and before the competition for the new ten talents even starts.
I had expected something like this would happen but after I heard that the dean had announced the competition for the new ten talents I had expected that no one would challenge him before the competition, but it seems I was wrong.
"Can't you wait until the competition begins?"
Floyd's snoozed voice said.
"Then I'd have to wait an entire week and that sounds boring so I thought why not challenge you here and no-"
" I decline."
Floyd's voice cut off the elf's as his head rested back on the desk as if the conversation never happened.
Bang
Slamming her hand back on the desk she then said:
"What do you me you can't decline a duel, unless you're scared."
The girl's green hair was suddenly pulled back sending her body flying backwards and away from Floyd's desk.
The reason behind this occurrence lies in Floyd himself as his one hand had used some type of magic to forcefully move her away.
Crash
Crashing into one of the wooden desk behind her the girl didn't stand up for a solid minute and no one dared to move for a solid minute as well, everyone except for Floyd that is, as his hand rested back on the desk.
Floyd calmly returned to his slumber.
"Clair are you ok?"
One of the girls rushed up to her and asked.
But no response was heard nor did her mouth even move of her body even twitch.
"We need a doctor!!"
'Huh, The academy life.'
*****
The teacher explained the monsters and other things in class and all the students listened.
The silver haired elf who was sent flying before class was fine and didn't disturb class.
Floyd actually paid attention during class as his head was slightly off of the surface of the desk throughout the entire class period.
We only had three classes: Shadow demon control, Aquinox Realm monsters, and physical and magical amplifications.
Exiting the academy building I went to the training rooms to further my aptitude and connection with my Shadow Demon as well as improve my power.
Preparing for the re-choosing of the ten talents was my top priority right now.
