The year is 1863, and Philip Grave is a Union soldier stationed at Gettysburg. Known for his valor, Phil is a man willing to sacrifice everything for the greater good. When his platoon is ambushed and he's fatally wounded, his only remaining ally, a mystic named Elijah Crow, reveals a desperate plan to save him.
Elijah performs a forbidden ritual using ancient artifacts stolen from Confederate forces. The ritual grants Philip immortality and the power to summon and manipulate lightning, but it comes with a price: his soul is bound to an unknown force, and every use of his powers brings him closer to losing his humanity.
As Philip awakens to his new reality, he discovers his powers in a horrifying way—lightning obliterates the Confederate soldiers, but his comrades are caught in the blast. His newfound strength is both a blessing and a curse, leaving him haunted by guilt and driven to understand the dark force within him.
Philip discovers a Confederate officer wearing a mysterious amulet identical to the artifact used in the ritual. The officer warns him: "You've unleashed something far worse than death, soldier. The war is just beginning."
