"I'll go too," said Nobunaga, hands tucked into his sleeves. "I've been meaning to reforge my blade anyway. If not, at least give it a proper sharpening."
"Sure," Chrollo nodded, but added a reminder, "We're new here. Take things slow; there's no need to rush."
He was clearly addressing Uvogin and Nobunaga.
"How about this?" Morin proposed after a moment's thought. "I'll go with them."
He figured he might as well take the opportunity to explore the outside world.
"Sounds good," Chrollo agreed. With Morin accompanying them, he felt at ease.
Once the Out of Nothing Door Sticker was removed, leaving only an ordinary wall, Morin led the eager Uvogin and Nobunaga out into the night.
"Let's go."
The trio disappeared into the shadows of the city.
Meanwhile, in the garbage truck...
"What happened to me?"
The driver, rubbing his bleary eyes, finally woke up.
Then he froze.
"What the…?"
His gaze landed on the truck's interior, now piled high with sparkling clean bowls.
Each bowl was so pristine it looked like it had been scrubbed, but the lingering aroma of sauce in the air confirmed they weren't new.
While the driver stared blankly at the stack of bowls...
Morin, Uvogin, and Nobunaga strolled aimlessly down the street.
Uvogin and Nobunaga were intrigued by their surroundings, while Morin pondered their next move.
The quickest way to learn about this world was through books, and the best places for that were libraries or bookstores.
But to access either, you needed identification or money.
Unfortunately, Morin was broke. Even his clothes were just old work uniforms from the canned goods factory.
"An ID isn't something I can get immediately. Money...that's the real issue."
As the saying goes, speak of the devil and he shall appear.
While Morin was lost in thought, they turned a corner and stumbled upon a brightly lit bank.
"I can't actually rob a bank... right?"
Even though he'd joined the Phantom Troupe, Morin felt that was a bit too lowbrow.
"Besides, I'm a thief, not a robber."
No sooner had he thought that than—
Bang! Bang!
Two gunshots rang out, shattering the night's stillness.
Startled, Morin looked ahead to see alarms blaring from the bank.
Suddenly, the doors burst open, and three figures dressed in all black, their faces completely covered, emerged.
Each carried a large sack slung over their shoulders and brandished guns that spat fire into the air.
"WEE-OO WEE-OO!"
The bank's shrill alarm echoed through the night, causing chaos in the nearby buildings.
"Bank robbers? At night? What are the odds?"
Morin watched the scene unfold, finding it more thrilling than any movie or TV show.
The three robbers jumped into a waiting van parked in a secluded spot, revved the engine, and sped away.
"Morin!"
Uvogin turned to him, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Let's follow them."
Morin knew exactly what Uvogin was thinking and smirked.
"Perfect timing—we could use some money."
Using Gyo, Morin confirmed that none of the robbers had any Nen abilities.
He led Uvogin and Nobunaga in pursuit, leaping across rooftops as they tailed the van, which eventually left the city and entered a remote area.
After winding through several turns, the van stopped at an abandoned factory.
The place was overgrown with weeds and clearly deserted, an ideal hideout.
"Haha! That was way too easy!"
The robbers climbed out of the van, tossing their sacks onto the ground.
"Boss, we hit the jackpot this time!"
"Yeah, Boss, listen to me—let's just keep the money. Who needs ID papers when we can live it up anywhere with this cash?"
As the two underlings argued, they removed their masks, revealing one bald man and another with a pockmarked face.
"Enough!"
The leader silenced them with a glare. Removing his mask, his triangular eyes gleamed with malice.
"ID papers are just as important. Without them, we can't go anywhere, and spending the money becomes risky."
"But Boss, there's so much money..."
The two underlings were still reluctant, but the leader waved them off.
"Did I say we're giving up the money?"
"Huh?"
"What's with the 'huh'? I want the ID papers and the money!"
"Hell yeah!"
The two underlings cheered, the pockmarked one grinning so wide his face seemed to split.
"Still, it's kinda weird, huh? That bank manager made a deal with us—help us get ID papers if we rob his bank?"
"What's weird about it?"
The leader snorted. "That manager's no saint. He probably embezzled money from his own bank and hired us to stage a robbery. This way, he has a cover story for the missing funds. Clever, huh?"
Just as the leader finished speaking—
Clap, clap, clap.
The sound of applause echoed through the empty factory.
