"Shall we go?"
Morin waved to the two still stunned and walked ahead.
Uvogin and Nobunaga immediately followed.
"Just like that, we're leaving?"
Once outside, Uvogin's urges flared up again.
"This tall building... I kinda want to smash it again."
"We didn't even get to burn it down," Nobunaga added.
On the way, the group hadn't found any gasoline or anything flammable to ignite.
"There will be plenty of chances later," Morin said, taking out his third Life-Saving Marble.
"I do agree on one thing though, this building's so tall it's really an eyesore. If we can't burn it down, we'll just tear it down."
With that, he tossed the marble towards the entrance.
This time, the marble didn't release pink smoke. Instead, a huge black pit formed on the ground.
Uvogin and Nobunaga's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as they watched the building collapse into the pit, no longer supported by the ground beneath it.
The entire structure plunged downward!
"Ahhhhh!!"
"Waaahhh!!"
"What the #@!$%?!"
Inside the building, the crash was accompanied by loud chaos, and the screams startled the passersby.
"Is that... the Elder's building?!"
"How could such a huge pit form below it? Where did the ground go?"
"Who knows... look, someone's jumping out!"
As the group chatted, they saw windows shattering and people leaping out of the building.
For Nen users, this kind of response in the face of danger was essential.
The moment the building started to fall, everyone rushed outward, breaking windows or smashing through walls without hesitation.
The first to emerge was the Elder from the top floor.
"You damn punks, I'll kill you all!"
His murderous roar, dripping with anger, reverberated throughout the street, leaving onlookers stunned.
"Is that the North District Elder?"
"Yeah, it's him! But why does he look...?"
"So disheveled and out of control? I wonder too!"
"Who pissed him off?!"
When the Elder appeared, his aura surged violently, and the raw killing intent sent a shiver down Uvogin and Nobunaga's spines.
"We need to move!"
Morin recognized the situation. No wonder this old man was one of the four Elders who decided the fate of Meteor City. With his immense aura, he could easily hold his ground anywhere.
Morin had no intention of fighting him head-on.
"You're a hundred years too early to catch us!"
Morin threw his last Life-Saving Marble toward the Elder.
"You little punks, don't even think about escaping!!"
"Old man, the real fool would be the one who doesn't run!!"
The exchange between them only fueled the Elder's rage, and the bystanders quickly moved aside.
However...
"What... what's going on?!"
"The ground... what happened?!"
"It's turned into water?!"
As soon as the Elder stepped down, the once-solid ground suddenly gave way, as if he were stepping on liquid instead of solid ground.
The Elder and everyone around him instantly fell!
"Splash!!"
"Plop!!"
The continuous sounds of people hitting the water followed, and the Elder paused, stunned.
In front of him, all the passersby seemed to have fallen into the water, struggling to stay afloat.
The entire street had turned into a vast lake!
"Help! I don't know how to swim!"
"Me neither! How did Meteor City get flooded?!"
"This is insane! It's supposed to be a road! Did I fall asleep or is the world going crazy?!"
Confused shouts, cries for help, disbelief, and frantic voices filled the air, echoing across the water-covered street.
Everyone tried to grab something to pull themselves out, but each touch only sent splashes into the water.
The feeling of standing on what should be solid ground, yet sinking as if it were water, was maddening.
The Elder, wide-eyed, watched as Morin and his group moved away, while in front of him, the street was flooded with struggling residents of Meteor City.
"Damn it!!"
His enraged shout echoed throughout the area.
At a nearby waste heap, Machi stood with her arms crossed, next to Pakunoda, glancing occasionally in the direction of the commotion.
"The sun's about to set, and they're still not back?" Feitan's voice sounded, low and grim.
"Rescuing someone... nighttime is the best time for action," Franklin said, scratching his head.
"And if they're still not back by morning?" Feitan asked, his voice soft but with a hint of seriousness.
"We can't just wait forever, can we?"
"I don't think it'll take that long," Chrollo said, standing straight with his eyes closed. He gave a subtle smile.
"Hahahahaha!!"
His loud laughter could be heard from a distance, cutting through the air.
