Chapter 150 - End of the year

The day after the end-of-year feast was the day the young witches and wizards boarded the Hogwarts Express back to King's Cross Station.

On the night of the feast, all the students were packing, and Irina was no exception.

With the backpack that Lynn had given her and the unseamless extension charm, it only took Irina ten minutes to pack everything she wanted to take home.

Then, she turned her attention to Hermione, who was still packing her things.

Since Lockhart's revelation, Hermione had been in a very bad mood.

She never imagined that the idol she had once admired was actually a fraud who deceived the world and stole his reputation, and she had defended this fraud for almost an entire school year!

Just as Irina had thought at the beginning of the school year, Lockhart's fall from grace had depressed Hermione.

Lately, Hermione felt like a bad person who helped others and deserved to be punished.

Even in the final exam she had just completed, Hermione was so preoccupied with this incident that she didn't perform well.

"Hermione, don't be sad. Think of something happy. Tomorrow we'll be going home, won't we?"

Irina approached and comforted Hermione while helping her pack.

Hermione looked at her with red eyes: "I'm so stupid. I really only knew that Lockhart was a famous wizard, but I didn't realize he was actually a fraud. Even Harry and Ron could tell there was something wrong with Lockhart..."

Hearing these familiar words, Irina couldn't help but smile.

Irina hugged Hermione's head and said helplessly, "Please, you're Hermione! You shouldn't be upset for so long over a liar. People make mistakes!"

After Irina used her tricks to convince Hermione, she finally started to feel better.

This made Irina think to herself: Hermione is obviously a teenager, but still such a child!

The night passed quickly, and early the next morning, after everyone had breakfast in the Great Hall, they started lining up to board the Hogwarts Express.

Before boarding the train, all the students received a notice from the Ministry of Magic, just like last year, instructing them not to perform magic outside of school, with a trace attached to the notice.

Of course, most of these traces were left on the notice and collected. Only those first-year students whose wands didn't have traces would have the initiative to leave them on the notice they received.

However, Irina was an exception. She had received a new wand during the last summer vacation. Naturally, there was no trace on the wand, so when she received the notice, the trace flew off and attached itself to her crystal wand.

"Take it."

As soon as they boarded the train, Lynn took Irina's crystal ice wand from her hands.

They found an empty compartment and sat across from each other. Lynn placed the wand on the table between them.

Lynn waved his wand, and golden threads condensed in the air, forming special alchemical runes.

These alchemical runes complemented each other, and a fine golden thread connected them all.

When Lynn's wand lightly pressed down, the alchemical array formed quickly and was imprinted onto the surface of the crystal ice wand.

Lynn muttered a few strange syllables, and a golden light passed, the alchemical circle submerged inside the wand, no longer visible to outsiders.

"Alright, I've blocked the traces on your wand. Now you can use magic as you like."

Lynn said happily and handed the wand back to Irina.

Irina waved her wand happily and felt the magic that had previously felt like shackles disappear as the notification was received.

Irina smiled slightly and said, "It's good to have a friend who knows alchemy!"

Just as the two began chatting, two red-headed figures entered the compartment.

"Sorry to interrupt your date."

"But we have something we want to tell you!"

The sound of singing came from the door. Lynn and Irina looked up and saw none other than the Weasley twins.

"What date? Let's just chat normally, alright?" Irina complained.

Lynn smiled at the two and asked, "Fred, George, have you read all the alchemy books I gave you last month?"

Upon hearing this, Fred and George suddenly looked bitter.

Fred complained, "When you gave them to us, you didn't tell us they were borrowed from the Restricted Section!"

"Yeah, when we found the piece of paper in the book with the return date written on it, there was only one day left to return the book. We were both stunned!" George nodded vigorously.

Fred lamented, "Poor us, it took us all night."

George also sighed, "A lamp, a pen, a miracle!"

Seeing them playing pranks, Lynn couldn't help but laugh.

Lynn asked with a smile, "So, did you copy all of it? What do you think? Do you understand?"

Fred scratched his head and said, "I can understand it, but it's very hard to practice. It actually requires us to do it without a wand."

The alchemy book Lynn had given to the Weasley twins a month ago recorded the special technique of hiding the alchemical circle engraved on the surface of an object so it can submerge inside the object. This method is very simple and can be performed without a wand.

However, simplicity comes with difficulty when it comes to learning.

Although Fred and George had debated the theory of this technique, they never succeeded in practicing it.

After all, this method is similar to how wizards cast spells without a wand.

Even though Fred and George's magical powers had reached the level of wandless spellcasting, they still found it very difficult to learn this special skill without the corresponding experience.

On the other hand, Lynn had learned this special technique after mastering wandless spellcasting, which allowed him to master this skill almost after seeing it once.

Lynn waved his hand and said, "I suggested to you before to first practice wandless spellcasting. Who told you not to listen?"

George shouted, "Please, we can't even cast spells silently, how are we supposed to learn to cast spells without a wand?"

Fred said, "We spent a year learning to cast spells silently, but casting spells without a wand was still too difficult. We tried for a long time but still had no clue, so we temporarily gave up on wandless spellcasting and started studying alchemy instead."
