Chapter 139 - It’s your turn, you thing that’s neither human nor ghost!

Although Irina was doing everything she could to dodge the attacks, after a few seconds, Riddle started casting the curse faster and faster, until finally, a dark red bolt of light struck her.

Irina only felt an excruciating and unbearable pain coming from every corner of her body. It felt as though her flesh and blood were being torn apart, and her bones seemed to be struck one by one with a heavy hammer.

"Good..."

Fine beads of sweat appeared on Irina's forehead. She gritted her teeth under the torture of the Cruciatus Curse, refusing to utter a single sound.

Seeing that the Cruciatus Curse had taken hold, Riddle mocked her and moved closer to snatch the diary from her hands.

However, he pulled hard twice and found that Irina still held onto the diary tightly, showing no intention of letting it go.

Irina's stubbornness left Riddle momentarily stunned.

The pain of having your heart and bones torn apart is unbearable, even for high-level wizards. Even those elite Aurors cry and beg for mercy when they face the Cruciatus Curse.

And this little witch, who was only a second-year student, still had the strength to cling to the diary despite enduring the Cruciatus Curse.

"Rend and Tear!"

Seeing that Irina refused to let go, a fierce look appeared on Riddle's face. He cast the spell again, increasing the magical output.

At this moment, Riddle was an energy-based form made of life force drawn from Ginny. This meant that his magical power was being used up and couldn't be replenished. However, to regain his true form, Riddle didn't care about this anymore.

"Aha..."

A more intense pain continued to stimulate Irina's nerves, making her groan involuntarily, but despite her consciousness blurring, the hand that held the diary showed no signs of releasing it.

She had made a mistake once, and she would never allow it to happen again!

On the other hand, Lynn, who was battling the basilisk, was suddenly blinded by something strange happening with Irina.

After these two years of interaction, and especially after revealing their true identities as reincarnators this school year, Lynn had come to regard Irina as his most important friend. But now, seeing his best friend under the influence of the Cruciatus Curse, how could he accept this?!

"Lightning Explosion!"

Lynn almost roared as he recited the spell. A faint light flickered on his right arm, and overcharged magical power poured into his wand at an extremely fast speed.

The magical energy in the surrounding air seemed to start boiling, and lines of blood appeared on Lynn's body. His skin cracked under the violent fluctuations of magical energy, and fine blood began to seep from his skin.

The next moment, a huge lightning bolt over a meter in diameter shot out from Lynn's wand, striking the basilisk's head.

There was a violent explosion, and the basilisk's massive body, over ten meters long, was thrown back by the terrifying blast. Almost all of the serpent scales were shattered, and a large amount of black blood spilled onto the floor.

The basilisk crashed into a stone pillar several dozen meters away, smashing one of the pillars that held up the secret chamber!

While dealing with the basilisk and buying time, Lynn advanced and picked up the Sorting Hat that Irina had placed on the ground.

A suicidal attack like this caused great trauma to Lynn's body. If he kept going like this, he might not be able to withstand the overwhelming magical power and die before slaying the basilisk.

Thus, the Sword of Gryffindor, which could break the basilisk's scales and even cut through the serpent's flesh and blood when the scales were broken, was undoubtedly the key to victory.

"Listen to me, Sorting Hat, I don't care about your so-called rule that only Gryffindor can draw the Sword of Gryffindor, but right now, give me the sword or I'll burn you!"

Lynn's eyes were bloodshot, and his left hand ignited a furious flame again as he pressed it toward the Sorting Hat, while his right hand reached out to grab it without hesitation.

After inserting his right hand into the Sorting Hat, Lynn felt something hard.

He grabbed the hard object and pulled it out.

It was a shiny silver sword, with a brilliant ruby the size of an egg set into the hilt. There was also an inscription near the hilt of the silver sword: Godric Gryffindor.

There was no doubt that this sharp silver sword was the legendary Sword of Gryffindor!

After seeing the Sword of Gryffindor in Lynn's hand, Riddle's eyes flashed with fear. He kicked Irina away forcefully and tried with all his might to snatch the diary from her hand.

In the aftermath of Lynn's lightning explosion, the basilisk's scales had already been shattered, and now that Lynn had obtained the Sword of Gryffindor, it was only a matter of time before the basilisk was slain.

As the heir of Slytherin and a Horcrux containing Voldemort's soul, Riddle knew full well that the basilisk's fangs could destroy his form.

Therefore, he no longer intended to kill Lynn and Irina. He only wanted to recover his own body, use the last bit of Ginny's life force to escape this place of evil and good, and then find a way to restore his true form.

In fact, if Tom Riddle had not learned the Cruciatus Curse and the Imperius Curse when he split this Horcrux, he would have only known the Cruciatus Curse and Imperius Curse of the three Unforgivable Curses. He still had not mastered the Killing Curse—if he had, he would have used it to kill Irina. Once he took back the diary, how could it be so troublesome?

At that moment, Lynn switched his wand to his left hand, while his right hand gripped the Sword of Gryffindor.

As he waved his wand in his left hand, Lynn's speed actually increased several times. In just a few breaths, he was already in front of the basilisk, which was dozens of meters away.

A silencing spell was cast, and the tip of his wand was surrounded by a soft, warm ball of light that illuminated the entire basilisk.

"Die!"

Lynn shouted angrily, and the sharp Sword of Gryffindor suddenly penetrated the basilisk's eye socket and pierced into its brain.

Lynn continued to twist the Sword of Gryffindor in his hand, making the sharp silver sword carve through the basilisk's head.

A few seconds later, Lynn pulled the sword out and swung it violently. The tremendous force under the curse actually severed the basilisk's nearly two-meter-wide head in one clean strike.

Thus, this basilisk, which had lived in the Chamber of Secrets for thousands of years, died at Lynn's hands!

Lynn swung the Sword of Gryffindor again and chopped off one of the basilisk's fangs with ease.

Lynn dropped the sword in his hand, turned around, picked up the basilisk's fang, and glared at Riddle with eyes full of rage.

"Next, it's your turn. You're neither human nor ghost!"

Lynn raised the fang in his hand and headed toward Riddle.
