Chapter 82 - Concealment and Truth

"In second place, Miss Hermione Granger! Facing dozens of stone chess pieces, she responded calmly and fought for opportunities for her companions. At the same time, she demonstrated both fearless bravery and extraordinary courage in the face of danger. For this, I award Gryffindor sixty points!"

Dumbledore announced loudly.

His words once again drew cheers from the Gryffindor table. Although Hermione had been struck down by Quirrell's Stunning Spell as soon as she entered the final room, entering that room still required great courage, and that was why Dumbledore rewarded her.

Looking at the cheering Gryffindors and the sulking Slytherins, Dumbledore continued, "In third place, Harry Potter! He, too, showed bravery and extraordinary courage in the face of danger. For this, I will also award Gryffindor sixty points!"

After acknowledging Harry, it was finally Lynn and Irina's turn.

Dumbledore's voice was filled with delight as he said, "Finally, Lynn Rohr and Irina Lowell! Faced with extremely dangerous enemies, they demonstrated immense magical skill and extraordinary bravery. They used their magical power to defeat these terrifying foes and protect the safety of Hogwarts. For this, I award each of them one hundred and fifty points!"

When Dumbledore finished speaking, the entire hall erupted into applause from students across all houses.

While some students from other houses might have objected to the earlier awards, everyone agreed that Lynn and Irina deserved their points.

Although Dumbledore hadn't explicitly said it, everyone knew who Lynn and Irina had faced.

That enemy was no ordinary adversary. It was the Dark Lord himself—the very same Voldemort who had once plunged the wizarding world into darkness and brought death and despair to countless wizarding families.

To be able to repel Voldemort as a first-year and a second-year student was nothing short of astonishing!

Fortunately, Dumbledore had awarded 150 points to Lynn and Irina. If he had given them only 100 points—or, worse, 60 points like Hermione and Harry—there would undoubtedly have been whispers of favoritism.

After all, compared to the immense danger and heroism involved in confronting Voldemort, merely making it through the obstacles or being knocked out immediately didn't even compare.

At the end of the awards, Dumbledore also granted Gryffindor an additional ten points for Neville's bravery. However, this final gesture was so minor that it barely drew attention.

"It seems that even with Dumbledore's extra points, the final winner will still be Slytherin," Irina remarked with a small smile.

When Dumbledore concluded the points announcements, the tension at the Slytherin table finally eased. Everyone let out a sigh of relief and cheered for their house's victory.

With the House Cup decided, the End-of-Year Feast officially began.

The End-of-Year Feast was one of the most extravagant meals served at Hogwarts throughout the year. The long tables were laden with a variety of delicacies, each more enticing than the last.

Lynn's fork moved so quickly that it seemed to leave an afterimage as he steadily demolished the mountain of food on his plate.

Though his movements were still elegant, Irina, seated at the Gryffindor table, was eating so quickly it was as if she might choke at any moment.

"Ugh… I'll finish it even if I choke!" Irina declared, gulping down her drink to avoid suffocating.

At the Halloween Feast, she hadn't eaten due to the troll incident, and during the Christmas Feast, she'd only picked at her food, distracted by her obsession with opening Wizard Crackers.

"Curse it all, I'll make up for Halloween and Christmas dinners tonight!" she vowed internally.

Her ferocious pace even surprised Ron, who was munching on a drumstick in each hand.

The End-of-Year Feast ended soon after, and the young wizards returned to their dormitories to pack their belongings.

The following day, they all departed Hogwarts and headed home.

As the Hogwarts Express pulled into King's Cross Station, the students eagerly reunited with their parents.

In a quieter corner of the station, Lynn watched silently as Irina left with a younger-looking couple. Then, taking the hand of the house-elf Gale, he Disapparated back to Rohr Castle.

"This year's trials have come to an end. When the new school year begins, I will confirm your true identity, Irina..."

Lynn's mind was preoccupied with everything that had transpired at Hogwarts.

When he saw Irina in the final room, Lynn had already suspected she was a time traveler like himself. However, an unspoken barrier remained between them, and neither had openly acknowledged it.

Now, after sensing Irina's kindness, Lynn decided to be the first to break the silence. He would confess their shared secret and confirm that they were both travelers.

"If she's one of us… Well, it seems I'll need to prepare a suitable gift."

Lynn thought to himself as he stepped into Rohr Castle.

Inside the castle's sitting room, he found Rowena perched on the sofa, reading the Daily Prophet.

"Mother, there's something I need to tell you," Lynn said as he sat beside her.

He then recounted everything that had happened in Dumbledore's office.

After learning that her husband had never been a Death Eater, Rowena was momentarily stunned but then felt relieved.

"So that's how it was," Rowena murmured. "No wonder Hendry ignored my protests and joined the Death Eaters, only to frequently complain to me about Voldemort's cruelty... I never expected Hendry was Dumbledore's spy!"

Thinking about this, Rowena felt a pang of sorrow.

Lynn tried to comfort her. "Mother, it's not that he didn't want to tell you the truth, but the magical world has too many ways of extracting someone's memories. Whether it's Legilimency, Veritaserum, or advanced alchemical tools like my own, there's always a risk."

Rowena nodded slightly. "I understand all that. I don't blame him for keeping the truth from me. It's just… knowing the truth now means I can never see the person he truly was..."

With that, Rowena fell into silence.

Indeed, if the price of uncovering the truth was her husband's death, Rowena would have preferred Hendry to remain hidden forever, even if it meant believing he was a loyal Death Eater for the rest of her life.
