Chapter 75 - Violent Breakthrough

But even if Quirrell wasn't killed by the Mk2 grenade, he had already fallen to the floor, with more air leaving his body than entering.

Quirrell's body was covered in shrapnel, and his forehead was marked with burn scars, looking charred.

"Waste! Waste!" Voldemort roared, continuing to punish Quirrell with magical power, making Quirrell dizzy with pain.

But soon, Quirrell's eyes glazed over, and they looked much stranger.

Obviously, Voldemort had regained control of Quirrell's body.

Voldemort made Quirrell wave his wand, casting several "Episkey" spells and using a powerful disarming spell, "Evanesco", to make the shrapnel vanish from his body.

It was only then that Quirrell was able to stand up successfully.

Fortunately, this is a magical world, and magic can heal any physical damage. Otherwise, even if Quirrell wasn't dead, he'd certainly be close to it.

"Damn, this body is really weak. A few powerful healing spells and Evanesco, and my magic power has been reduced by 30%," Voldemort cursed inwardly and then returned control of the body to Quirrell.

At that moment, Quirrell was on the verge of tears. He had done exactly what Voldemort said, but who knew that there would be such a dangerous situation with the Mirror of Erised?!

"Keep thinking of a way! If you can't get the Philosopher's Stone, you will face the consequences!" Voldemort said savagely.

At hearing this, Quirrell shuddered violently. He still remembered the time Voldemort punished him with the Cruciatus Curse on the back of his neck for failing to do something properly.

That was really a matter of life or death!

Thinking of this, Quirrell quickly walked around the Mirror of Erised, searching for a way to break it.

On the other hand, the four of them fell into the Devil's Snare, and the vines of the Devil's Snare wrapped around their bodies.

"Incendio!"

Although Harry's magical level wasn't high, under Irina's influence, he immediately thought of the Fire-Making Charm.

Indeed, after finding something bright and warm like a flame, the Devil's Snare began to retreat, loosening its hold on the four of them. They took the opportunity to escape and reached a stone hallway.

Irina cast a spell to extinguish the flames, and then the three of them, along with Harry, walked down the stone corridor.

This corridor was like the underground passage of Gringotts, descending entirely. Irina felt that the altitude where they were was probably lower than the Slytherin common room.

After walking for a few minutes, they reached the end of the corridor, where they were faced with a brightly lit room. Countless "birds" that sparkled like gems flew in the air. It was a heavy wooden door.

Irina looked closer and saw that these weren't "birds" at all, but rather flying keys!

Obviously, one of these keys was the key to open this door.

"Stupefy!"

Irina waved her wand, and a strange wave of magic spread from it.

Bang, bang, bang, bang!

Almost a third of the keys fell to the ground under the effect of this universal spell, but the remaining keys seemed to have been protected by a powerful spell, as they weren't affected by Irina's magic.

However, after eliminating a third of the distracting elements, the remaining keys became easy to spot.

"Look, that should be the key! Harry, it's up to you!"

At that moment, Hermione pointed at one of the keys, a silver key with fallen blue wings.

Harry saw a row of broomsticks in the corner. Without hesitation, he mounted one of the brooms and sped toward the key.

With Harry's skill as a Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, it was easy for him to catch the key in just a few breaths. Harry grabbed the key and jumped off the broom.

"Quick, Harry!" Ron shouted.

Harry quickly reached the heavy door, inserted the key, and turned it.

With a "click," the heavy door opened.

But at the same time, the group of keys behind them seemed to go mad, each turning into sharp blades and shooting towards them all.

"Protego!"

Irina waved her wand, and an invisible barrier stood in front of them, covering them as they passed through the door.

This way, the four of them successfully entered the second room.

When they entered the room, they found themselves on the edge of a giant chessboard with black chess pieces in front of them, each as tall as a knight's armor in a castle.

There were some white chess pieces at the other end of the room. These intimidating chess pieces made Harry and Ron shudder.

"Does this mean we have to act as these chess pieces, and only after winning can we enter the next room?" Ron said as he looked at the missing pieces in the chess formation.

Harry was a little anxious: "But the villain has already passed through this room. I'm afraid we won't have time to finish the game before the villain gets the Philosopher's Stone..."

"Oh," Irina sighed and walked forward, "Then let's get rid of these chess pieces blocking the way and go straight to the next room!"

Hearing this, Hermione walked toward Irina without hesitation.

But Harry and Ron were a little hesitant. Their magical levels weren't strong, and they weren't sure if they could defeat these towering chess pieces.

"Expelliarmus!"

At that moment, Hermione took the initiative. With a flick of her wand, a burst of light shot from the air and bombarded the Black Knight not too far away.

Boom!

There was an explosion, and the Black Knight was instantly shattered into pieces on the floor.

After discovering that Irina and her group had no intention of respecting the rules, the chess pieces began to move.

Sixteen black pawns and sixteen white pawns rushed forward rapidly, with a black knight and two white knights on either side, and behind them, two bishops and two castles, white and black, as well as the white and black kings and queens.

These chess pieces formed a battle formation, attacking Irina and the others with murderous intent.

"Rictusempra!"

Irina cast a freezing charm with her left hand, freezing a black pawn, and then used a slicing spell, "Diffindo", to shatter the frozen pawn into ice fragments all over the floor.

"Furnunculus!" Harry, Ron, and Hermione supported by setting some of the pieces on fire and disarming the other major pieces.
