Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Recalibration Protocol

As Adair's words hung in the air, Master Clockmaker's expression turned grave. He knew that the implications of what she was suggesting were catastrophic.

"No," Master Clockmaker said firmly, his voice echoing through the chamber. "We can't do it. The risks are too great."

Adair's gaze never wavered from Alex's face. "Ah, but think of the possibilities, my dear clockwork," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Perhaps this anomaly can be... recalibrated?"

Master Clockmaker's eyes widened in horror as he realized what Adair was suggesting. "You can't seriously propose that we try to reprogram Alex's temporal frequency to make him more predictable?" he asked, his voice incredulous.

Adair nodded calmly. "Why not? It would be a simple procedure, and think of the benefits. We could use this anomaly for all sorts of... interesting applications."

Alex felt a chill run down his spine as he listened to Adair's words. He knew that if they tried to recalibrate him, he would lose himself completely. He would become a pawn in their game of temporal politics.

But before he could say anything, Adair continued, her voice dripping with persuasion. "Think about it, Master Clockmaker. We could use this anomaly to our advantage. We could send him back into the timeline and have him... nudge events in a particular direction."

Master Clockmaker's expression turned thoughtful as he considered Adair's words. Alex knew that if he wasn't careful, they would convince Master Clockmaker to go along with their plan.

But then, something unexpected happened. The door to the chamber burst open, and a young woman rushed in, her eyes flashing with urgency.

"Wait!" she exclaimed, her voice ringing through the room. "Don't do it! You don't understand what you're talking about."

Master Clockmaker turned to face the newcomer, his expression curious. "And who are you?" he asked, his voice firm but polite.

The woman hesitated for a moment before answering. "I'm Luna," she said, her eyes never leaving Alex's face. "And I know exactly what's going on here."

Alex felt a surge of hope as he listened to Luna's words. Maybe, just maybe, this young woman could help him escape the Timekeepers' clutches...
