Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Trial of the Demigod

Two months had passed.

His companions had refined about sixty strands of divine power, only one-third away from becoming demigods. Luo Luo had also been preparing for two months, and today was the day he was ready to face the trial of the demigod.

During these two months, Luo Luo established four fully automated robot factories and two fully automated war robot factories, amassing 7,000 industrial robots and 190 war robots. It wasn't that Luo Luo didn't want to produce more, but the resources in the divine realm had been nearly exhausted. The gunpowder resources were also tied to the factories and there were no related resources in Luo Luo's territory.

Delaying any further would serve no purpose.

Luo Luo used all his remaining faith points to unlock the core technology.

Military technology had progressed to the level of bolt-action rifles. Civilian technology had advanced to the internal combustion engine stage. He even unlocked some special buildings, such as: Technology Academy, Bank, Smart Library, and Shipbuilding Center.

However, due to resource constraints, none had been constructed, so the trial of the demigod was imminent.

Out of caution, Luo Luo set up a pure steel wall and watchtowers around the mechanical race's perimeter. This allowed them to observe enemy movements, defend against ambushes, and launch elevated attacks on enemies, increasing their range. Everything was ready.

Luo Luo refined his one hundredth strand of divine power.

"Ding, an unknown rift has appeared in the divine realm."

"Ding, an unknown race has entered your divine realm."

There was no need for reconnaissance; the rift was less than 500 meters north of the mechanical race's wall. A group of green goblins, brandishing wooden sticks, was approaching with a raucous chatter.

Under the influence of the cosmic consciousness, all enemies appearing in the trial would fervently attack the tester and his subjects.

These goblins, less than a meter tall, had shed their previous timid demeanor and charged confidently towards the wall.

Race: Goblin

Level: LV1

Physique:2

Strength: 3

Agility: 2

Spirit: 1

Talent:

1. Fertility: Goblins reproduce at a rate far exceeding other races.

2. Bullying the Weak: They panic and flee when facing strong enemies but gain +1 to strength against weaker foes.

Skills:

1. Slash: Attacks the enemy with all their strength, temporarily increasing strength by one. (Cooldown: 1 hour)

2. Roar: Goblins will roar when attacked, calling for more companions.

Description: A small race that enjoys bullying the weak and has an exceptionally high reproductive rate.

Luo Luo observed that there were no high-level enemies among the goblins, so he abandoned using gunpowder weapons and switched to crossbow arrows for his attacks. The robots had inexhaustible power and could maintain maximum shooting frequency, while the steel crossbow bolts were tremendously powerful. Even the industrial robots could hit their targets 100% of the time within a hundred meters; under these conditions, every shot could blow apart a goblin.

In less than two minutes, the first wave of over a thousand goblins was eliminated, but they dropped nothing valuable. In the trial of the demigod, with each round completed, the cosmic will would provide some rewards as encouragement for the successful participants.

The first round was far too easy; aside from some wooden sticks used by the goblins, nothing else was dropped.

The second round quickly followed.

"Ding, an unknown race and a large group of goblins have entered your divine realm."

Twenty minotaurs, towering two stories high, emerged, carrying large stone pillars. In front of them were 500 organized goblins. These goblins hadn't upgraded their equipment and still wielded wooden sticks, but they were led by a goblin warrior, which helped them maintain a somewhat orderly formation.

Race: Minotaur

Level: LV2

Physique: 10

Strength: 8

Agility: 3

Spirit: 2

Talent:

1. Strength Enhancement: Increases the race's strength by +2.

2. Resilient Physique: Reduces stamina consumption.

Skills:

1. Charge: Minotaurs can abandon their weapons to charge forward quickly, with agility equal to twice their strength plus physique, stopping upon colliding with the first object or after moving one thousand meters. (Cooldown: 5 hours)

Description: The vanguard race of the orc legion, known for their frenzied temperament and resilient will, serves as the backbone of the orc army.

Goblin Warrior

Level: LV2

Physique: 6

Strength: 6

Agility: 4

Spirit: 2

Talent:

1. Fertility: Goblins reproduce at a rate far exceeding other races.

2. Bullying the Weak: They panic and flee when facing strong enemies but gain +1 to strength against weaker foes.

Skills:

1. Command: Can effectively command lower-level goblins, granting +1 strength to all team members (lasts 10 seconds, cooldown: 1 hour).

Description: This is a goblin that has slightly broken through its limitations, but it remains weak.

As Luo Luo observed their attributes, the minotaurs had already charged over the goblins towards the wall.

Crossbow arrows still inflicted significant damage to the minotaurs. If aimed at weak points like the eyes, a minotaur could be quickly taken down.

Thus, Luo Luo did not use gunpowder weapons. Moreover, the wall was constructed of pure steel, with a thickness of five meters and a solid foundation.

By the time the minotaurs reached the wall, only one or two of the luckier ones remained. Their powerful skills were utterly useless against the steel wall, which showed no signs of shaking. Typically, in such situations, the goblins behind would have long fled, but under the influence of the cosmic will, they continued to howl and charge at the wall, quickly meeting their end.

"Ding, an unknown item has been discovered in the divine realm."

Perhaps due to the lack of drops in the previous round, this round yielded an item: a totem of the minotaur race, a symbol of their faith. With it, minotaurs could be continuously transformed into minotaur warriors. Of course, this required sufficient faith points and a strong will, as the transformation process had a high mortality rate.

This was a valuable item, but it held no use for Luo Luo; he had no intention of cultivating the minotaur race in his divine realm.

It seemed he could only look for an opportunity to sell it later.

At this moment, the third round of the trial had already begun, with 50 minotaurs charging at Luo Luo led by a minotaur warrior.

Minotaur Warrior

Level: LV3

Physique: 10

Strength: 15

Agility: 5

Spirit: 5

Talent:

1. Strength Enhancement: Increases the race's strength by +2.

2. Resilient Physique: Reduces stamina consumption.

Skills:

1. Berserk Charge: The minotaur warrior can abandon their weapon to charge forward quickly, with agility equal to twice their strength plus physique, stopping upon colliding with the first object or after moving one thousand meters. (Cooldown: 5 hours)

Description: A brave minotaur who has passed the totem trial, holding mid-level authority in the minotaur tribe, with absolute command over ordinary minotaurs.

Seeing the attributes of the minotaur warrior, Luo Luo knew he needed to take it seriously. After all, a LV3 level posed a suppression against his LV1 robots. Low-level attacks on high-level opponents would drastically reduce damage. If the level gap was too great, the damage could even be zero. Thus, in racial warfare, the situation of many ants defeating an elephant does not exist; most gods preferred to cultivate higher-value races.

Of course, this was the general case. The kinetic weapons of the robots could ignore this rule, but the stronger the race, the greater their physical strength and defense would be. Thus, Luo Luo would still need to continuously upgrade the robots' weapons.

The level of the robots could be low, but the damage of the weapons had to be high.

With a rifle activated, Luo Luo easily eliminated all the minotaurs.

At this point, Luo Luo could communicate with the cosmic will to end the trial, but he could also choose to continue.

The subsequent challenges could be stopped at any time, with increasing difficulty, and of course, the rewards would also increase.

Some who succeeded in the trial of the demigod continued even as the difficulty rose, leading to irreparable losses due to misjudging their own strength. After exiting the trial, they didn't have time to invest resources, and their subjects perished.

The result was not much different from genocide.

Luo Luo had prepared for so long precisely to pass through a few more rounds. Even if all the robots were wiped out, he wouldn't need to worry as long as there was still one robot factory left.

"Continue the trial." Luo Luo communicated with the cosmic will.

Immediately, the ground began to tremble, and the rift widened.

Fifty minotaur warriors emerged from the rift, followed by five minotaur priests.

Minotaur Priest

Level: LV4

Physique: 5

Strength: 5

Agility: 4

Spirit: 17

Talent:

1. Spirit Enhancement: Increases spirit by +2.

Skills:

1. Healing Spell: Can slowly heal a target unit's injuries. (Cooldown: 1 hour)

2. Berserk Spell: Can put the target into a berserk state, doubling their strength but halving their spirit. (Lasts 10 seconds, cooldown: 10 hours)

Description: A group of spellcasters who have forsaken physical strength, these are rare beings within the minotaur tribe, capable of unleashing even greater power when paired with minotaur warriors.

Luo Luo certainly wouldn't underestimate them. As the minotaur priests approached, he first targeted them for elimination before attacking the minotaur warriors. Even though the minotaur priests frequently used healing spells, they couldn't keep up with the war robots' attacks. Every ten robots locked onto a single minotaur priest and easily took them down. Then each robot was responsible for one minotaur; by the time they reached the wall, all had been eliminated.

He hadn't even had time to check the dropped items.

The enemies of the fifth round had already arrived.
