"This is extremely important and imperative that we properly pick the right one..It. Could. Cost. Us. Everything." A female's voice punctuated tensely as she held out her arms, "Red or Blue, choose, my life depends on it." Her pretty face held the utmost seriousness as her hands tightened around hangers that carried both a red and blue dress. Both of which were apparently popular and on sale.Â
The man whose opinion she waited for with eyes sparkling in anticipation could only muster a shrug as his dark eyes scanned the small boutique. Everything appeared pretty casual, scattered shoppers here and there, the two blended in just as well as the stoic man's appearance was captured in a nearby mirror.Â
His dark wavy hair was pulled back into a stylish topknot which only served as the cherry on top of the overly loose pastel clothing he wore to pass as a someone who would remotely interested in a place that screamed New! and It! It it definitely wasn't as he fidgeted in the baggy sweater he wore that managed to hide his muscular form but not the annoyed aura he gave off as he pushed the sleeves up over his toned forearms.
'How is this loose and uncomfortable at the same time…'
Theo thought to himself.
The woman sighed just as annoyed, hands on hips "Theo are you paying attention?! It's life or death! Reddd or blueee?Huh? Huhhhh??" She danced the swaying fabrics in his face as he constantly kept his eyes moving till they focused on a lone woman sitting outside of the boutique, she appeared even more out of place than he felt as she wore a large cap that covered her eyes and a graphic tee that screamed in bright lettering a drink brand.
"Blending in by not blending, hm.." he muttered only half listening to the woman who still fluttered about holding the dresses against her thin figure in the mirror but had perked up hearing him speak.
"Was that blue? Yeah? Do you think so? I've always been more into red, well that's what my friends normally say brings out my curves and..-" She droned on till Theo cut her short.
"Aren't they both the same? What do you mean curves?" His face was flat and uncaring as he finally looked at the woman's now flushed face.
'Oh red..' he thought before looking away again.
"What do you mean?! I'll have you know I have the best body in my department!!!"Â
She posed just as exaggerated as the mannequin next to her, almost exactly, you'd think one came to life.
Myla could definitely say that considering her department, accounting, was full of balding middle-aged men who never strayed far from their desks. Their computer keyboards littered with glazed donuts of the extravagant saboteur that Myla was. They were now zombies that hung on Myla's every word and girlish figure.
"If there were a contest I'd definitely win, hmph!" She continued in her delusions while Theo's eyes once again found the woman who upon further inspection matched the target they were after.
Soon a shadowy figure appeared, head to all dressed in black but the most notable feature was a thick handlebar mustache that gave the distinct feeling of firefighters and chip cans which wiggled as the figure sneered. Quickly the figure gripped the female's arm which caused her to look up surprise and fear flicking across her face as she winced; she struggled within his grip.
"Myla.."Â
Taking a glance at the female proved she'd be useless now as she held a retail clerk hostage, as she sobbed, "Red or blue, isn't it so simple??! Wahhhhhh!" The clerk's lips stitched into an awkwardly polite smile as she comforted the distraught Myla and found time to glare daggers at him.
Theo had no time to thank the unsung hero and proceeded to approach where mustache and the young woman were now arguing loud enough for him to hear,
"No! You can't! I won't help with this!" She stood planted against his tugging until they both caught sight of Theo and with final pull he was able to yank the distracted woman into a run as he shouted, "Shit! Let's go!"
"Myla!" Theo called again with more urgency which caused the blubbering woman's head to snap up to the sight of Theo's back as he rushed after the duo.
The chase was on.
Elsewhere someone was having their own fashion dilemma
"Lucasss! Stop, Stop, stoooop! It's all wrong!" A lanky man nearly screeched before taking steps back to gaze at the group beneath the bright lights. They were stuck in meticulous poses as he continued to mutter to himself.Â
"Hmmm…" He squinted at the three models, his intensity causing the group to lose their poise as sweat began to bead.
"No! A five min break and touch up and we'll try again. Jane is sweating all over my set!" The one named Jane could only smile nervously as quickly as a gang of makeup artists rushed her away in a cloud of powder.
The other two models let out a sigh of relief before turning to one another, "Ha..thought it'd be me again." The male sighed as his silky voice left him.
The other who was just as picturesque shrugged and tilted his head motioning towards the photographer who did not look happy as he called,
"LUCAS, a word dear?" He had a tight lipped smile as he tapped impatiently.
This photographer was known to be incredibly picky but talented and it seems like once again Lucas had gotten on his bad side. Lucas gulped before approaching and the other male slipped away to freedom.Â
"Look Donovan," Lucas started sheepishly.
"I'm trying to follow the vision but if you could just tell me what you're looking for I can-.."
"A FEELING! Lucas! A. Feeling." The high strung and eccentric man who was in charge of capturing the essence of the models gripped the bridge of his nose in frustration.
"I had confidence that your exotic yet angelic look would be the eye catching mystery this new campaign needed. So far it's all just..blech!!" Donovan flailed his arms wildly in a huff causing Lucas to jump back in surprise.
Straightening his thin flyaway hair Donovan regained his composure, "Lucas, sweeetie, if you can't give me the feeling I'm looking for you know what will happen riggghhttt?"
Lucas's eyes downcast before softly saying,
"Yes, you're not afraid to find replace-.."Â
"REPLACEMENTS! Yes, great idea Lucas. If I can't get the vision I want out of you. This campaign will be moving on with someone else within a week." Donovan stated matter-of-factly.
"A week?! You've been changing what you wanted for months now, you wouldn't have the time-.." Once again Lucas was interrupted.
"Don't worry your pretty head." Donovan reached out to ruffle Lucas's hair which smushed the caramel blonde locks this way and that, his stylist wouldn't be happy.
"There are plenty others I can take as my centerpiece, it'll be a shame but I'll have to make do if what I have now doesn't fit…"
He said as he leaned back and eyed Lucas up and down with a criticizing gaze as sharp as a knife, "Well this interaction has taken too much of my time and I'll call it a day here."
"WRAP IT UP PEOPLE!" He screeched causing the crew to begin to scatter and scramble for their gear, then turned back to Lucas before grinning.
"One week~! Don't disappoint meee~!"Â
To Lucas's annoyance Donovan then glided away with his assistants trailing frantically after him.
Lucas's fist clenched before he let out an exhausted sigh.
Returning to the dressing room where the others were waiting patiently Lucas could barely make through the door before he was rushed with questions.
"Lucass! What happened this time?!"
"He didn't touch you did he? I heard he can get pretty handsy..omg your hair! Why?!"
"Where'd you hear that? If anyone in this room is a huge gossip it has to be you."Â
The small and incredibly artsy looking girl who happened to be their stylist was lamenting the death of his voluminous hair before she threw a comb at Jane who gracefully dodged it. "I'm not a gossip but the models all talk you know! Clearly Lucas is his latest victim! My poor baby.."
Lucas smiled softly through the pain as she hugged his waist tight and almost cut his blood circulation, "C-claire don't worry he didn't do too much damage, it's just my pride at this point."Â
The handsome male the color of rich clay clapped Lucas on the back almost knocking the wind out of him.
'How can someone so beautiful be so strong..'
Lucas's eyes traveled over the guys well toned physique and thought about his own stick figure in comparison.
"Put a shirt on.." T-T
"Are you body shaming me?"
Jane grumbled, "I would too if I was a guy, you can put those weapons away now Vincent."
"Fine fine, but tell us what happened while I raid Jane's wardrobe."
"You wouldn't!"
"I wear it better~!"
Ignoring the scrappy models Lucas flopped defeated into a chair his head flinging back, "Basically I have a week to prove my worth to Donovan or its lights out on my career."
"What?!" Claire choked.
"HUH?!" Jane and Vincent said in unison.
"We don't have the time there's a show attached to this campaign if we go on a search now they could end up canceling the whole thing! That's bad for all of us."
Jane was speaking facts after which Claire spoke up, "Oh I hope he doesn't think I'll work with another model he managed to pick up off the street with such short notice."
Vincent leaned over Lucas as he delved deeper into his own thoughts, "Lucas we all really love working with you and if you give up-.."
Lucas quickly got up which caused his and Vincent's foreheads to collide.
Vincent was out of commission rolling in pain.
"Give up?! I'd never give up! Modeling isn't all I have but it's the first time I felt like I was truly being seen by the world around me. I'd be the biggest dummy to not chase my dreams at the first sign of trouble." The red mark from Lucas's collision was blaring but not as big as his determination.
Jane smiled, "Yes you are a true model and we can't wait till we see you at the top." She hugged his shoulders before Claire squealing joined in.
"Seeee this is why I'll follow you till the ends of the earth! Marry meee!"
"In another life." Lucas said hugging her back.
"I love it when you play hard to get~!" She said jokingly.
"Hey! I'm here too you guys!" Vincent hefted himself up from the floor to embrace the three of them.
"Okay so operation: 'Protect Lucas's Dream' will commence after today!"
"Yeahh!"
"You bet!"Â
Claire crossed her arms and the other two posed like heroes, "With the three of us on your side there is nothing you can't do."
Lucas held back tears, "Awwww~! I love you guys!"Â
All three of them tackled him into a hug again, "We love you too!"Â
