Chapter 1: The Boring Daily Life Of A Top Student: The Genius Boy In Teitan Elementary School
In Beika-cho, Tokyo, under the bright sun, the breeze gently rustled the branches outside the classroom window, filling the air with a sense of vitality.
Endo Haruto, a young boy with short black hair, sat in the back row of his first-grade class at Teitan Elementary School. He propped his chin up with one hand, his gaze fixed lazily out the window. A small bird flitted about, combing its feathers in the sunlight.
Inside the classroom, the teacher, Miss Sumiko Kobayashi, was in the middle of a lecture when she noticed Endo's distracted stare. A fleeting sigh escaped her lips. She called on him gently, "Endo, can you tell me what's seven times nine plus six?"
"69," Endo Haruto answered without turning his head, his voice flat.
It was an answer as quick as it was accurate.
The other children in the class exchanged amazed glances, their admiration evident. How could someone so young be so effortlessly brilliant? It was a sight they'd seen many times, but it still left them in awe. Even though Haruto often appeared absent-minded in class—sometimes even napping—he aced every subject without fail. How could they not envy such a genius?
"Correct."
Miss Kobayashi, though relieved at the accuracy of the answer, felt a pang of frustration. Her lips curved into a strained smile.
It was exasperating.
Why couldn't Haruto make just one mistake? As a teacher, she couldn't help but feel like her role had become redundant when it came to a student like him. Sometimes, it was as if she were a mere spectator in her own classroom.
Looking over at Endo Haruto, still gazing absently out the window, Miss Kobayashi sighed inwardly.
Despite her frustrations, she did admire students like him—quick-witted and intelligent. It made her job easier, in theory. But sometimes, she wished for a bit more challenge. After all, what was a teacher without students who needed her?
Endo Haruto was lost in thought, his mind drifting far from the classroom.
Life as a first-grade student at Teitan Elementary was rather peaceful. There was little to worry about, no obligations except to learn and play. It was a simplicity he'd never experienced before in his past life.
Haruto was no ordinary child. He was a reborn soul, carrying memories from a previous life.
In his past life, he had been born in an ancient Eastern country, an orphan raised by distant relatives. He grew up to become a struggling artist, his work largely ignored by the world. For more than 20 years, he lived an uneventful life, his paintings never gaining much recognition, just barely scraping by.
Then, one day, while out sketching, he fell off a cliff. The fall ended his life… and marked the end of his ordinary existence.
When he awoke, he found himself reborn as a baby. But unlike his past life, he had been born into a well-off family. His new parents were kind, and he had two sisters—Ayako and Sonoko.
Soon after, through overheard conversations, Endo Haruto learned that the world he had been reborn into was not entirely his own. This was a different reality—one that closely resembled the world of Detective Conan.
He discovered that his sister Sonoko was friends with Ran Mouri and Shinichi Kudou—the main characters of the Detective Conan universe.
At first, he was confused. But as the pieces fell into place, it became clear. Haruto had been reincarnated into a world that was a parallel version of the Detective Conan universe.
In a strange twist of fate, he realized he had crossed over into an animated world—one full of mysteries and danger. While his new life seemed to offer more than his previous one, it also presented its own challenges.
Despite his newfound fortune, Haruto often felt disoriented by the absence of any supernatural gifts that most reborn characters typically receive. But then again, what use was a magical ability when you had everything handed to you on a silver platter?
The school bell rang, signaling the end of another school day. The children grabbed their bags and rushed out, eager to embrace their weekend freedom.
As Haruto neared the school gate, three of his classmates stopped him. They were Yoshida Ayumi, Tsuburaya Mitsuhiko, and Kojima Genta.
Ayumi, wearing a bright orange dress with her short hair bouncing as she spoke, smiled up at him. "Haruto, tomorrow's Saturday! We're going to Dorobiga Park. Want to come with us?"
Before Haruto could answer, Genta, his round face flushed with excitement, piped up. "Ayumi already invited you! You'd better say yes. Don't be rude!"
With his wide frame and serious expression, Genta's words, though playful, were a little intimidating. But Haruto wasn't so easily fazed. After all, he had lived through a much more dangerous life in his past.
