Bianca blinks up at Ken, certain she must have misheard him. The words seem to hang in the air between them, impossible and tempting all at once.
"Bianca? I said, I'm going to break up with Imelda."
"But... She'll expose us and ruin you! She won't stop until there's nothing left." Her voice trembles with concern.
Ken swallows hard, then shakes his head with determination. "We'll figure it out. The accident showed me what's really important. Life is too short to keep worrying about everything else."
Bianca searches his eyes and finds nothing but sincerity in their depths. Her heart leaps with excitement, and for just a moment, she allows herself to indulge in the fantasy of what could be.
"That means we can be a real family. I've always felt so close to the boys. Now, we can start to make it official—"
