Chapter 8 - Memories pt.1

"Rome? Rome?"

"Yes, Li?"

"Phew, I thought you got lost again, dad's looking for you."

"Oh, ok."

The two boys walked over to their house where they found their father talking to the other children.

The man smiled when he saw them. "Welcome boys, sit, sit, dinner will be ready soon."

"Thanks dad." All the children chorused.

Rome stood up with joy. "Thanks dad, you have always found a way to make us happy. You brought all of us from the streets, gave us a home and fed us, without you out lives would be utter trash."

The father, Mori, smiled down at him. "Thank you Rome, but you don't have to say that everyday, it was a pleasure to assist you guys. None of you have brawls, just like me, we stick together."

All the children hugged Mori tightly.

After dinner, everyone went to sleep but there was an unwanted guest.

A man with unkempt hair and a knife walked into their apartment. The apartment had no door and was merely an incompleted building.

"You owed me so much and all you could do was pay 98%? I don't care if you're bankrupt and live here, either you pay or you die."

muttered the man under his breath as he raised his knife above his head and jabbed it into Mori's leg.

Mori screamed causing all the children to awake from their slumber.

"Dad!" Rome shouted as he ran from his side of the house over to his father.

Seeing the man with a knife made him scared, the last time he had seen real blood was when his parents had died in a horrid freak accident. He pushed the fear back and ran towards his father.

Mori kicked the man away with his other leg, causing him to stumble and roll on the floor. Mori immediately removed the knife from his leg and threw it, planting it in the man's shoulder.

Rome stood by his father and helped him to get up.

The mysterious man didn't even flinch when the knife went into him. "Hahaha," He mocked. "I felt the pain but now it is no more, I am okay."

He put his hands over his face as he smiled deviously. He removed the knife from his shoulder and ran over to Mori aiming for his head.

Rome moved his father back dodging the attack, he placed his father down on the floor wrapping his injury with his shirt.

Rome ran over to the man clenching his fists.

"Should I go for the legs? No that would be too obvious, maybe the head? No! I have to be unpredictable." Rome muttered to himself.

He jumped up going for a punch to the man's head. The man was experienced and threw a punch of his own.

Rome stepped on the man's wrist while in the air and landed a daring kick to the jaw, sending the man flying through the concrete wall.

Rome who thought the fight was over was walking over to Mori when the knife came out of nowhere heading right through Mori's head.

The man laughed maniacally.

"Foolish child, never forget to check if the opponent is actually dead."

The man ran towards Rome with two pieces of concrete in his hand. He threw one above Rome's head and threw the other one towards Rome's face.

Rome easily dodged the attacks but the man leapt up kicking the piece of concrete in the air into dust temporarily blinding Rome. He immediately kicked Rome sending him flying through a wall.

The pain he felt was immense. Rome had never felt so much pain in his life, he screamed in pain causing his brothers to awake from their slumber.

The first to enter the room was Adam. Immediately he saw Mori's dead body he puked and felt light headed.

The next to enter was Jack, he scoured the area and ran straight towards the mysterious man with his fists clenched.

Johnathan was next to enter. Following Jack, he ran towards the man.

Li and James were next, searching the area for any other intruders.

"Take care of Adam, I'll find Rome." Li told Adam as he walked towards Mori's dead body.

Johnathan and Jack ran towards the man clenching their fists while wearing angry expressions on their faces.

Jack leaped over the man.

The man was surprised that the child could jump so high and looked up to see Jack flipping him off while Johnathan gave him a swift punch right to the gut causing him to take 10 large steps backwards.

"So it was a diversion."

muttered the mysterious man under his breath.

The man then said aloud with his hands in the air. "I've got to keep my eyes on you guys, how old are you? 16?"

The kids looked at each other in utter silence and without any body movement

"17? 18?"

As the man said the number '18' the kids looked at each other and frowned for the man had guessed their age. This single act was enough for the man to know he was right.

"Lemme guess, you guys are twins, work best together and are mastered fighters." He was experienced in fighting so it wasn't hard for him to guess.

Again the kids body language and facial expressions let him know that he was right causing the man to cackle.

"Oh well, looks like I have you all figured out. I've dealt with people like you, people who choreograph every fighting movement thinking I can't catch on fast enough. Well here's the thing, I don't fight with care for my health or body, anything that get's injured will be healed in a few hours."

The kids looked at each other one more time nodding at each other and smiling. The man was confused as if the children didn't hear what he just said.

"I said this won't work on me, give it a re-"

Jack landed a ghoulishly strong right kick to the man's rib cage, Johnathan also gave him a punch behind his groin, and they both held unto his knee as they leaped into the sky.

"This kids are faster than before, were they pretending earlier? No!

Of course not! But this speed is phenomenal. When the kid behind me dashed towards me I saw him step on a twig but I didn't hear the sound until after the punch to my groin. Don't Tell me are these kids as fast as-"

The man was stopped in his thoughts as he was planted to the ground dislocating his neck.

The kids stood up and smiled, as if they had just completed a job well done.

Cleaning the dust off their hands, they saw a greenish toxin entering their bodies.

They fell down to their knees and eventually to the floor.
