Chapter 61 - Chapter Sixty-one: If You Refuse to Yield, Then Prepare to Die

Upon hearing those words, witch Mag was nearly engulfed by despair!

Could it be that her adversary had already anticipated her escape route, lying in wait on this desolate isle?

He towered above her, taller than the imposing "Storm Knight" by half a head.

Clad in a voluminous brown leather cloak, his features were obscured, while his body appeared to be clad in a special, dark-hued armor.

Judging by the white beard that protruded from beneath his chin, he seemed to be at least in his sixties.

A flicker of hope surged within Mag...

If he was indeed an elder, perhaps he could be reasoned with!

He would be less impulsive than the younger ones, who often fail to understand the nuances of duty and flexibility.

"Please, do not be hasty to strike!"

Mag inserted her staff beside her, extending her hands to signify her lack of intent to engage in battle.

Once he halted his approach, she continued her plea:

"The information about the civilization across the sea was relayed by the wizard Lan Nong, an aide to the seventh prince of the Storm Kingdom. The decision to launch an invasion was made by the royal family; it has no direct bearing on us wizards!"

"If you wish to claim that every action was taken out of necessity, there is no need to waste your breath."

Huyan Wu, having lived nearly seventy years, could easily discern that this woman was attempting to deflect blame.

Even if the invasion was not instigated by the wizards, their involvement had eliminated any pretense of neutrality!

Moreover, Huyan Wu had recently witnessed the entire course of the conflict from afar, understanding the chaos that the wizards' bizarre abilities had wrought on the three clans.

The woman before him was clearly among the most adept; should she be permitted to escape, she would undoubtedly pose a future threat!

Seeing Huyan Wu advance once more, Mag quickly urged him,

"I bear you no ill will; if you allow me to leave, I can offer you a fitting reward—this will not affect the outcome for your civilization!"

With that, she drew a circle in the air with her left hand, conjuring translucent ripples from which she produced two bags of items!

As Mag opened the bags, one revealed a bounty of gleaming gold coins, while the other contained an array of dazzling gemstones.

"Simply overlook my presence, and these invaluable treasures shall be yours!"

While the bribe of vast wealth might have been effective in the nations of the Gulf World, it was unfortunate that her target was Huyan Wu…

Setting aside his status as a servant of the deity, even as an ordinary member of the clan world, he would likely not fall for Mag's ploy.

Gold coins? Ha, could they possibly rival the value of their circulating plastic currency?

Lacking any transparency, they were nothing short of refuse!

As for the gemstones, they were indeed visually appealing, but considering the circumstances, it would be far more prudent to simply eliminate the woman, search her body, and offer the spoils to the deity in exchange for crystal vines as a reward!

No matter how beautiful the gemstones were, they were ultimately mere decorations, incomparable to the life-extending and strength-enhancing properties of crystal vines!

Huyan Wu entirely disregarded the two bags, instead taking note of Mag's method of retrieval.

Surely, the deity would find it intriguing as well?

He glanced upward, the clouds remaining undisturbed.

Little did he know, outside in the world, Wang Hui was indeed fixated on the unfolding scene!

"Void Object Retrieval… Is it akin to a storage space, or merely an illusion of visual deception?"

Wang Hui found himself increasingly intrigued.

The Gulf World undoubtedly concealed many fascinating intricacies; once he thoroughly grasped them, it would significantly enhance his mastery of primal energy!

Using it solely for combat or healing was rather crude; there were far more engaging methods worthy of exploration!

On the island, despite Huyan Wu being unable to perceive Wang Hui's expression from behind the glass dome, encountering something that could benefit the deity was not to be overlooked.

Thus, his approach shifted from killing to capturing!

Witch Mag, of course, had no inkling that it was the seemingly insignificant **Dimensional Bag** that had preserved her life…

"If what I offer is insufficient, I can return to Storm City for more…"

Before she could finish, Mag caught sight of a peculiar jaw-like weapon extending from the lower right side of Huyan Wu's cloak.

Her expression shifted slightly: "It seems you have no interest in peaceful negotiations?"

With that, Mag retracted the two bags of treasures, her right hand grasping her staff once more.

During their conversation, while ostensibly seeking a solution through trade, she was subtly replenishing her previously expended magical energy!

As the second-ranking wizard of the Storm Kingdom, she would never be foolish enough to relinquish her fate to a stranger!

Pfft…

As she gripped her staff, a small, multifaceted crystal fell from her sleeve, shattering upon hitting the ground.

Huyan Wu's gaze sharpened at the sight.

That was a Celestial Crystal!

It shattered because its energy had been completely drained.

"If you refuse to yield, then prepare to die!"

Mag's expression hardened as she pointed forward: "Earth Bind!"

The ground beneath Huyan Wu rippled, emanating an intense pulling force, attempting to secure him in place!

Upon closer inspection, the source of the disturbance was the spot where Mag had earlier planted her staff!

From the very beginning, she had no intention of genuinely offering treasures in exchange for his acquiescence; everything was a prelude to her lethal maneuver!

"Water Whip!"

"Dehydration Bubble!"

Streams of water shot forth from the sea, coiling like whips to ensnare Huyan Wu's limbs.

Simultaneously, Mag waved her staff, conjuring an extremely arid sphere of air that drifted toward Huyan Wu.

If enveloped by this sphere, all moisture within him would be rapidly extracted, leaving behind a desiccated husk!

"Cunning and vile… The deity has warned that wizards are more treacherous than knights, and how true it is."

Despite being ensnared by both **Earth Bind** and **Water Whip**, Huyan Wu remained remarkably composed.

Long ago, the deity had imparted a crucial lesson to him.

In the face of absolute strength, any trickery appeared utterly absurd!

Crack… crack…

With a mere flex of his muscles, the water whips binding his limbs snapped effortlessly.

He regarded the ground's restraint with disdain, lifting his foot and stomping down hard, causing countless fissures to spread as the **Earth Bind** shattered!

At that moment, the dehydrating bubble floated before him; Huyan Wu reached out, and a shadowy hand materialized before his palm, shattering the bubble with a resounding pop!

This was a technique Huyan Wu had perfected through nearly a thousand practice bouts with the slime, Gulu Mi.

Though he could not perform it with the effortless grace of Wang Hui from a distance, it sufficed for close-quarters confrontations like this one.

"Riptide Arrow!"

"Water Foam!"

"Wave Ripple!"

Mag unleashed a frenzied barrage of spells, the ocean behind her providing ample resources for her incantations, yet she was unable to even impede Huyan Wu's advance!

The relentless torrent of water spells were all torn asunder; as Mag turned to attempt her escape by flight, Huyan Wu's primal energy hand seized her once again!

"If you wish to survive, then showcase your worth before the deity with all your might."
