Chapter 067 - Professionals Do Professional Things

They couldn't go home anymore,

No more delicious tonkotsu ramen, no more tasty wagyu BBQ, and so much more…

Hope was gone,

She was going to die here.

Nanase Ren's expression was sorrowful, helpless, her body slumping against the seat. A faint tear shimmered in her beautiful eyes, about to fall down her fair cheek at any moment.

At this moment, Lin Ye's hands were resting on the girl's body, but he wasn't applying force anymore.

He withdrew his right hand and, seeing that Nanase Ren wasn't going to shout out loud, he immediately used his phone to type a message.

— We can't get off at Chiba Station. When we boarded, it was night, but now it's daylight outside.

He turned the screen towards Nanase Ren.

The nurse with cherry-colored hair stayed silent for a while, her eyes shifting. She seemed to have noticed something unusual.

It was indeed daylight outside. The time was wrong, unless they had spent an entire night on the bus.

She quickly took the phone and typed a reply.

— What if we spent an entire night on the bus? The flow of time could be different inside and outside.

Nanase Ren had seen a lot of movies and anime that involved time.

— We boarded on Friday, April 12th, but the station's electronic clock outside shows April 8th.

Lin Ye pointed to the bus route map above.

— I saw the next stop is Chiba City Hospital.

Wasn't that her hospital?

A sense of belonging filled her, and the feeling of going home emerged.

Nanase Ren looked at Lin Ye, deciding to trust him.

This guy didn't hide his feelings for her at all, often saying embarrassing things, but when it came to protecting her, he never wavered.

The bus doors had closed, and they were stuck inside. With no other option, she could only trust Lin Ye.

"Please take your seats, the bus is about to depart."

The announcement sounded.

The passenger who had just boarded walked down the aisle and sat in the seat right in front of Nanase Ren.

Compared to the terrifying passengers who had boarded earlier, now Nanase Ren had the courage to face the strange beings directly.

This one looked perfectly normal, far more so than any of the previous passengers. He seemed like a regular human being.

But still,

Nanase Ren felt like she had seen this man before.

Where?

With this doubt in her mind, Nanase Ren racked her brain, and finally, a flash of realization passed through her mind. She remembered, and her body shuddered in fear.

This man was the victim who had died in the Chiba Station fire accident!

Nanase Ren had seen his photo in the news and in the hospital.

Realizing this, she immediately typed out the information on her phone, informing Lin Ye.

Lin Ye nodded and pointed to the single row of seats on the right side. He then stood up and moved to the front, sitting next to the new passenger, the strange being.

Nanase Ren suddenly realized the issue with the seating.

Lin Ye had sat next to the strange being without hesitation. Even though Blue Hair and the middle-aged man hadn't been attacked by the strange beings in neighboring seats, it didn't mean there was no danger.

The nurse felt warmth spread through her body.

She was really lucky!

Under Lin Ye's urging, Nanase Ren quickly walked to the single row of seats on the right, one hand supporting herself. She glanced sideways, her eyes watching Lin Ye, hoping he would be fine.

"He must be fine,"

"I'll treat him to BBQ once we get off."

She couldn't help but think.

Boom boom

Boom boom...

The bus was running smoothly, occasionally making a low rumbling sound. The silent interior was void of any voices, but Lin Ye's gaze stayed fixed on the man next to him as he observed the surroundings, not missing any detail.

"The quieter it gets, the greater the hidden danger."

He couldn't let his guard down. Until the very end, caution and vigilance were a must.

Lin Ye would never joke around with his life.

The man sitting next to him had his arms crossed, resting with his eyes closed, as though enjoying a rare moment of rest from his work.

Nothing had changed.

Could it really be safe?

No,

Lin Ye suddenly felt the bus was accelerating.

The light coming through the windows was noticeably dimming, from the bright midday sun to the evening sunset. The change was speeding up.

The rules must have been triggered.

Lin Ye looked at the man, "Hase Takayuki," and guessed that he might burst into flames like the strange being from Tuesday night, but until now, there were no signs of combustion. He didn't even feel any heat coming from the man next to him.

"Huh?"

Lin Ye's suspicion flickered for a moment.

The next second, he reached out and touched the man's forehead.

"So hot."

He had a fever.

Instantly, Lin Ye understood the strange rule.

Just like the strange being who bled from a ten-centimeter wound at the first station, this time, the issue was the man's fever.

"Water,"

But using Time Stop, Lin Ye searched the bus and found no water bottles.

How could he lower his temperature?

Even if there were fever-reducing medicine, it probably wouldn't help, especially since the first aid kit didn't contain any.

Suddenly,

As Lin Ye rummaged through the first aid kit, he found alcohol. He grabbed it quickly.

Using alcohol for physical cooling that was the solution.

Lin Ye immediately opened the packaging, unscrewed the cap, and used a cotton ball to apply alcohol to the man's forehead.

As soon as the alcohol touched his skin, it evaporated instantly, carrying away a large amount of heat.

The bus speed slightly decreased, but it was still far from enough; the speed was still racing.

The sunset outside was almost gone.

Lin Ye knew there wasn't much time left. Once they missed the moment when the "Route 18 bus" had passed, the bus might not stop at Chiba City Hospital.

At that moment, a delicate hand reached over and took the alcohol bottle from Lin Ye's hand.

It was Nanase Ren.

The cute nurse with slender fingers pointed to herself and smiled faintly.

"Let me do it."

Her eyes seemed to say so.

Lin Ye moved aside.

As a nurse, Nanase Ren was more professional than he was and knew how to bring down a fever faster.

Professionals should do professional things. Now that the girl had volunteered, Lin Ye had no reason to refuse.

Moreover, Lin Ye was very satisfied with Nanase Ren. When needed, she truly stepped up she wasn't afraid to confront non-human beings directly.
