Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

- My chandelier... - Those were the first words that came out of George's mouth. She thought he was most worried about her, but apparently she was mistaken. He didn't even ask if she was okay. He acted as if she were invisible while she was still held by Jack's hand, unable to understand his intentions. Furthermore, he hated her, so why did he save her from the falling chandelier? The only thing he couldn't do to her was hurt her, which would probably leave a scar after the wound healed immediately. Is that why? Did he not want her to be disfigured? Was he still worried about her? Otherwise, after all, he wouldn't have helped Alison if he still hated her after all. What was really going on in his mind? She couldn't understand it because on the one hand he wanted to hurt her for what she had done to him in the past, and on the other hand he probably still wanted her. Even Henry stated that Jack missed her, so was it really possible? Did she have a chance to win him back?

Bewildered, she raised her head when she felt that Jack was looking at her. She looked into his eyes and could have sworn that, for a moment, she saw a hint of tenderness in them. Seeing that she caught him, his expression changed dramatically. He threw the girl a sharp look and let go of her hand, violently pushing her away from him. She bayed backwards and felt George catch her by the shoulders, saving her from falling. Jack looked at them for a split second and squinted dangerously. A pleasant shudder ran through her body as she got the feeling that he was jealous, and that meant she was right. Despite the hatred filling him, he still cared about her.

Jack shifted his gaze to Rafael, who was staring at Alison with hostility evident on his face. He never liked her, and after she ratted them out, he hated her to the point where he felt like ripping her body to shreds.

- First you wanted to kill Alison, and now you come to her rescue? You're making an idiot of yourself because everyone can see perfectly well that it was just a silly talk because you still have a weakness for her. - He said the last words with clear disgust in his voice, shifting his gaze to Jack. The brunet smiled mockingly and crossed his arms over his chest, not taking his eyes off him.

- Try any trick on her again and you'll regret it. This is a matter between me and Alison, so don't interfere. I repeat it to you for the umpteenth time, but as you can see, nothing gets through to you. She is mine, do you understand? And I'm the one who will do what I want with her. Therefore, keep your paws to yourself! - he announced with a threatening tone in his voice. However, Rafael was not impressed at all, as he laughed out loud. He was not afraid of anything, and the worst part was that in a fight he and Jack were equal opponents. Alison herself didn't know which one she feared more. On the one hand, there was the unpredictable Rafael, and on the other the mysterious and terrifying Jack, who had once been her man, but now she couldn't understand him. She didn't know if he really still hated her, or if this was his way of trying to hide his true feelings. For why's, after Alison's suicide, did he fly into a rage and cause all hell to break loose in the town? However, when he learned that the girl was an angel again, he calmed down - as if he were relieved. Maybe he really hadn't planned to kill her? Perhaps he wouldn't even be able to do it?

Smiling mockingly, Rafael gave the girl one last warning glance, then disappeared. She knew that he was not going to listen to Jack because he wanted nothing more than to savor her suffering. He hadn't started yet. The cruel bastard was just preparing his revenge, heedless of his former friend's words.

Did Rafael also recognize that Jack would not be able to hurt her?

She froze when he looked back and fixed his gaze on her. His gaze was sharp, so piercing that she saw dangerous fires in it. He was mirroring her intently, and again she didn't know what he wanted from her. His mood swings were strange, which is why she was so afraid of him. She couldn't tell what was on his mind. Indeed, he could still care about her, but he could change in a second. Moments ago, he was able to help her, and now hatred was running through him. She got the impression that he had two personalities that were fighting each other, and she was in the middle of it, waiting for him to choose the right side.

Terrified, George retreated backwards, not wanting to inadvertently trick Jack. It was understandable that he was afraid of the fallen angel because he had to obey him in order not to die. There was nothing he could do, so the best way for him was to run away.

Alison did not resent him at all for seeing Jack's menacing gaze — he took his legs by the waist and ran out of the apartment with all speed.

The fallen angel slowly began to move toward her, and she stood still, waiting until he was close enough for her to touch him. She saw that instantly his countenance had changed again, and yet she was not afraid. Thanks to the fact that he stood up for her, she guessed that in addition to his demonic side — he still possessed a heart, so he still had feelings for her. She was sure of this, so she was not going to give up on him. Now she had even more strength in her to fight for him. He was the only man she could not get rid of from her heart.

She lifted her face when he stopped in front of her, looking at her carefully. Tentatively, she drew her hand closer to him and placed it on his chest.

- I know very well that part of you wants to hurt me, and the rest of you is defending against it because you still care about me. Stop it Jack. Why can't you get rid of the bad feelings that are destroying you? It makes you suffer," she spoke calmly, looking into his eyes. - I know what happened to you after my death. You planned to kill me, and when I committed suicide, you fell into despair because you thought you had lost me forever. You don't want this at all. Furthermore, you just can't handle the anger that has control over you. I can help you. Just say the word and I will stay by your side," she whispered more quietly. He looked at her with such calmness and gentleness on his face as never before. She thought she had succeeded in reaching him, but this state lasted only a short while. A few seconds later, fury dawned on his face and he threw her such an icy stare that she felt as if he had made her body go numb with this sight. However, this terror contributed to her inability to move. With fear in her eyes, she watched as darkness fell around them. The room was engulfed in dangerous darkness, which widened more strongly when black wings sprouted from Jack's back.

She opened her eyes wide when she realized that she was in danger. With those words, she angered him to the point where he was unable to control himself.

- Jack," she whispered when she noticed that all the objects started falling off the shelves, loudly crashing on the floor. She tried to stop it, but his power surpassed Alison's, and by being stronger than her there was nothing she could do. So how did the Archangels imagine that she was supposed to fight him? After all, she didn't have the power that he did. They thought she knew his weaknesses, but the problem was that Jack hardly resembled her beloved anymore.

- Stop spouting nonsense. The only feeling I have for you is hatred," he said in a dry tone, piercing the girl with his eyes. He flapped his wings, and his eyes turned frighteningly black. Suddenly, he grabbed her by the neck and pulled her to him with brutality, carefully watching her face.

Although she was an angel that should try to fight him, she could not. She would not be able to hurt Jack, even if he caused her pain. She would not defend herself. He could annihilate her, and she would just let him. She had such strong feelings for him that she couldn't imagine hurting him. Certainly, not now.

- You can say what you want, but as I know my own. I see that you are still fighting with yourself and I will do everything to get you back," she confessed to him, without taking her eyes off him. - Because I'm sure there's still a chance for you.

Jack frowned.

- I don't understand why I feel like protecting you at the same time as I want to kill you. It crosses my plans, and for that reason, I can't hurt you properly. I would like to do it; however, I have a block inside me that prevents me from doing it. I'm so angry because I can't deal with my desires. This makes me hate you even more! - he shouted with bitterness in his voice, and his wings fluttered again. He threw her a dangerous glance as she continued to look at him with pain in her eyes.

She would most gladly help him now, so long as he didn't suffer. In doing so, he was hurting himself, as he was unable to deal with his feelings. Because one half of his soul was dark, he was fighting a lonely battle with himself that he didn't recognize, and was thus lost.

She didn't know what was driving her currently, but finally, she couldn't stand it and approached him. She put her hands around his face and stood on her toes to reach his lips. Furthermore, she kissed him, which he did not reciprocate, once again pushing her away. She felt a distinct sense of disappointment, but that changed when his gaze changed to one filled with desire, and he unexpectedly grabbed Alison's hands, vigorously pulling her to him. He greedily fell into her mouth, and she closed her eyes and embraced his neck with her hands. He put his hand on the girl's back and gently tilted her back.

She was so engrossed in his kisses that she thought of nothing else. Excitement, as well as excitement, filled her body and at that moment Alison didn't care about anything else. She didn't give a damn about the fact that she was an angel. She wasn't concerned about sin, or whether the Archangels would find out about everything. They could accuse her, deprive her of her wings or punish her in worse ways, but for Jack, she was ready for anything.

She was able to give up everything as long as the man she loved was by her side. That was all she wanted.

- For God's sake, what are you doing! - She heard Henry's panicked voice, and this made Jack smile half-heartedly and, looking at the angel with demonic eyes, became even more greedy in kisses.

An unknown force pushed them away from each other, and only then did Alison realize what was happening. Henry used the power, and she landed at the other end of the room, unhappy that he had torn her away from something so amazing. She craved those kisses, craved Jack.

She threw the angel a furtive glance, but he didn't even glance at her. He stared at Jack with such a gaze that she would have felt shivers of fear if she were him. However, the brunette was not impressed at all, as he smiled mockingly, innocently shrugging his shoulders.

- After all, she's still hot as hell," he announced in a whisper, then shifted his gaze to Alison. He watched her face for a moment, then disappeared. With him, the darkness departed, and the apartment regained its former luster once again.

She glanced uncertainly at Henry, fearing the look on his face. She felt that he was furious, and she was well aware of what she had done.

- George called me for help because he was worried about you. He didn't know what Jack was planning for you, that's why I showed up. Fortunately," he said through clenched teeth. He carefully measured the girl with his eyes and clenched his fists in anger. - Had it not been for my intervention, there is no telling what else would have happened here.

She hesitantly grunted, feeling slightly embarrassed. Henry was right. Another moment and she would probably have completely carried away, and that's what he meant.

- You're coming with me," he stated, then grabbed the brunette's hand and moved her to another place. She didn't even protest. Henry was angry with her, and she understood his anger perfectly. Jack was her weakness, that's why she couldn't control herself. For him, she was ready for anything. And this is what scared the angel the most.

They found themselves in a meadow. Henry walked away from her, and the girl watched his back with remorse painted on her face. Suddenly, he turned to her, and his lip trembled. He was infuriated by the angelic girl's actions. He trusted Alison and thought she had more willpower, but apparently he was mistaken. She was weak when it came to this man. She was turning into a helpless lamb in his presence and couldn't handle it. Maybe she didn't even want to.

Henry was disappointed in her all over again. She knew that he was afraid of what would happen if the Archangels found out about everything. He was worried about her. More than she worried about herself. He knew what was threatened for disobedience, and the girl didn't care.

- Not only are you committing more and more sins, which is slowly making you fall, but it will be better for you if the Archangels don't find out about your behavior. You promised them that you would annihilate Jack, and what do you do? They would undoubtedly punish you similarly to those you delivered. Would you want to spend all eternity trapped in one place? You wouldn't be released from there by anyone, so come to your senses, Alison.

- What if I don't care? What matters now is nothing else but that I get him back. I would rather not be an angel if he's not by my side, do you understand? I want to try, and if I fail, then let them do whatever they want with me. I only live for him," she announced, and Henry shook his head in disbelief. He walked over to her, grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, as if he wanted her to finally wake up.

- Alison, please. If you want it back, I will help you. However, don't do things like today! This is what he wants, and you are not doing anything at all to save him. We will do everything to get rid of the demonic side, we will do it without the knowledge of the Archangels, but you must not show weakness in his presence. If you do it again, I will have to tell the Archangels about everything. I can't lie to them. I would rather not fall because of this, do you understand? Being an angel with a pure soul is the most important thing for me, I can't bear all these sins, so please don't do this to me," he said with tears in his eyes. It was the first time she had seen him in such a state. Indeed, it must have been very significant to him if talking about it caused him such pain. He even begged because he wanted to protect Alison, but if need be he would have to turn her in. Just as she ratted out Jack to protect herself.

- I swear," she replied, and his eyes widened upon hearing the word. He lowered his head and breathed a clear sigh of relief.

With pain in her heart, she looked at the elderly people who were sleeping peacefully, having no idea of what she was about to do. She couldn't let them suffer any longer. They missed their granddaughter, and the best way to make them forget her was to take away all their memories of that time. She wanted them to lead a peaceful life for the rest of their days, not thinking about anything related to pain.

She leaned over them and placed her hands on their foreheads, closing her eyes and slowly taking away all the memories of when she was human. Furthermore, she felt how strong their feelings were for her, so this was harder than she thought.

- I'm sorry, but it's better for you," she whispered.

She took one last look at the men, then moved to the apartment. George was frightened by the angelic woman, as he jumped up on the couch. He probably thought it was one of the fallen ones, as he completely did not expect her. He was sure she wouldn't come back after he tricked her once again.

- I'm going to live here anyway. Don't even think about me leaving. I've already told you what you need to do, so I won't be mad at you.

- Do you want to kill me? After all, you clearly saw that Jack is jealous of you. I had a feeling that he would tear me apart. If he sees that you live with me, I'll be a corpse," he stated with despair in his voice. She crossed her arms on her chest and raised an eyebrow, letting him know that he must agree. - Alison, don't do this to me.

- I'm not as good as I used to be. Even though I'm an angel, I sin, so don't take pity on me.

- Really, don't you like me one bit?

- I like you, that's why I want to be close to you. Aren't you happy that it's your apartment I chose? You should be happy, especially after you cheated me. I should teach you a lesson, and I didn't.

- Living with you under the same roof is already an appropriate lesson," he revealed, and his eyes widened with fear as she raked him with her eyes. - Ok. I'll agree, but promise me that you'll stand by my side when I'm in danger.

- Jack will not kill you, you have my word. If he wanted to do it, you would have been dead long ago," she replied and sat down next to him. George swallowed his saliva hard as she leaned with her hands on his shoulder. She watched his face, noticing that he felt embarrassed when she was too close to him. He didn't know what to do with himself, and she acted mean enough to just rat him out. She wanted him to suffer a little and finally learn from this lying.
