Kade frowned. "Great. Glitter armor, a brute with a warhammer, and a guy who probably dies in stealth missions. This should be good."
Before he could decline, the trio materialized nearby. The leader, SparkleSlaya, waved enthusiastically, her shimmering pink armor glowing obnoxiously under the twilight.
"Wolf Slayer!" she exclaimed. "We saw your announcement for clearing the Emberfang Den. Think you can help us out?"
Kade looked at them, his military instincts kicking in. Something about the rogue, FluffyDestroyer, put him on edge. His constant glances toward Kade's sword were too deliberate.
"You want me to carry you through your next raid?" Kade asked flatly.
"No, no!" SparkleSlaya waved her hands defensively. "We're competent. Just need someone who knows how to handle wolves."
"Translation: you need someone to kill wolves while you play dress-up," Kade muttered. He glanced at his map. The Twilight Wolf Nest was nearby, offering crafting materials he could sell at the auction.
"Fine," he said, reluctantly joining their party. "But if you get in my way, I'm taking the loot and leaving you for dead."
"Deal!" SparkleSlaya chirped.
The entrance to the Twilight Wolf Nest was a wide, jagged cave, claw marks raking across the walls. The DankTank took point, his warhammer raised.
As the group descended, a growl echoed through the cavern. Kade raised a hand to stop them. "Hold it. We've got company."
The wolves attacked as a pack, their glowing eyes flashing in the dark. Two wolves lunged at SparkleSlaya, who squealed and swung wildly, her sword clanging uselessly against the walls. A third wolf targeted FluffyDestroyer, who tripped backward, flailing his daggers.
Kade acted fast, rolling to intercept the largest wolf. His Emberfang Blade ignited with a fiery glow as he activated Flaming Strike, slashing through the beast's chest. Blood sprayed, and the wolf collapsed in a heap.
One wolf clamped onto DankTank's arm, its teeth sinking deep into his flesh. The tank growled in pain, slamming his warhammer down to crush the wolf's skull. The impact sent blood and fur flying across the cave.

The group advanced cautiously, entering a narrow hallway lined with glowing runes. Kade scanned the environment, noting scorch marks on the floor.
"Fire traps," he muttered. "Watch the pattern: left, right, middle."
SparkleSlaya, oblivious as ever, charged ahead. "Let's do this!"
The trap activated, a jet of fire engulfing her armor. She stumbled back, singed but alive.
"WHAT DID I JUST SAY?!" Kade shouted, dragging her out of the flames.
TheDankTank, watching, chuckled. "She's got spirit."
"Spirit's not going to save her when she's ash," Kade muttered, navigating the traps carefully. He reached the end and turned back. "Follow me if you don't want to die."
The final chamber was massive, its floor littered with bones and claw marks. At the center, Alpha Redfang crouched, its red-hot claws glowing faintly. The beast stood twice as large as any wolf Kade had fought before, its health bar spanning the screen.
Kade immediately took charge. "Tank, pull aggro. Fluffy, aim for the legs. Sparkle—just don't die."
The wolf howled, summoning smaller wolves. The fight began in chaos. Kade focused on crowd control, his Flaming Strike carving through lesser wolves in fiery arcs. Blood sprayed across the stone floor as his health bar dipped from successive bites.
Redfang turned on TheDankTank, swiping with its massive claws. The impact sent the tank flying into a wall, his health bar plummeting. "I'M GOOD!" he yelled, wobbling back to his feet.
FluffyDestroyer lunged for Redfang's legs but missed, earning a claw swipe that sent him tumbling.
As Redfang's health dropped to 50%, the wolf roared, its body igniting with crimson energy. Its speed doubled, and its attacks became relentless.
Kade barely dodged a swipe that left a crater in the stone. "It's in berserk mode!" he shouted. "Stay back!"
Suddenly, FluffyDestroyer turned toward Kade, daggers glinting. "You're not taking all the credit for this, Wolf Slayer."
The rogue lunged, aiming for Kade's back. Kade's reflexes saved him. He sidestepped, grabbing Fluffy's wrist and twisting it. The dagger clattered to the ground.
"Really?" Kade growled, slamming his elbow into Fluffy's face. The rogue stumbled back, but Kade didn't let up. He drove his sword into Fluffy's chest, blood spraying as the rogue collapsed.

"Anyone else want to betray me?" Kade snapped, glaring at Sparkle and Tank.
They shook their heads.
Redfang lunged at Kade, its claws inches from his face. He ducked, rolling under the beast and driving the Emberfang Blade upward into its chest. The blade ignited with fiery energy, and Redfang let out a final, guttural howl before collapsing in a pool of blood and ash.
