Chapter 53 - Chapter 53: C3 · Standard Type · No. 18

"How about this, you little rogue ninja?"

"If we were fighting in the village, with your terrifying explosive abilities, I might not have been your match," Yagura admitted. Yet his tone carried not only recognition of Deidara's strength but a sharp edge of killing intent.

"But out here on the open sea? I have the upper hand. No one can defeat me here!"

Beep!

A black Tailed Beast Bomb formed—a dense sphere of pure chakra capable of leveling mountains with a single blast. It was undoubtedly a weapon of mass destruction.

But Deidara had seen this before. Compared to the Tailed Beast Bomb of the Eight-Tails, the Three-Tails' version was notably weaker.

"Yagura, I'll admit—you're the strongest opponent I've faced so far," Deidara said, his voice carrying an odd mix of respect and excitement. "But this is where it ends. You're lucky. You'll witness my new art!"

"This masterpiece surpasses a Tailed Beast Bomb by tenfold! Let's finish this!"

Two massive dragons soared out, colliding with the Tailed Beast Bomb and neutralizing it. As the explosion dispersed, Deidara reached into his clay pouch and pulled out a pre-prepared figurine—a work that had taken days of painstaking effort.

The creation was bullet-shaped, wide at the bottom and narrow at the top, with simple wings and round indentations resembling eyes. Though unassuming, its interior held highly compressed explosive clay, made by days of chewing and molding.

This was Deidara's ultimate work of art—a masterpiece that could only be deployed with meticulous preparation.

C3 · Standard Type · No. 18!

Whoosh!

The clay figure expanded, growing to the size of a two-story building, and Deidara hurled it from high above. Its target? Yagura Karatachi below.

"Is that it?" Yagura sneered. Judging from its size, the explosion didn't seem as formidable as the earlier dragon attack. Could that brat really claim it was ten times stronger than a Tailed Beast Bomb?

Still, a shinobi never underestimates a threat.

"Water Style: Water Severing Wave!"

A sharp torrent of water sliced through the air, aiming to split the clay bomb in two.

"Not so fast!"

With a splash, a massive clay sea serpent erupted from the ocean, wrapping around the Three-Tails' neck and deflecting the attack.

"When did this happen?!" Yagura exclaimed.

"Of course, I set it up before our fight began," Deidara smirked. "Don't call me underhanded—it's fair for me to prepare when you've got the home-field advantage."

More clay serpents emerged from the depths, coiling tightly around the Three-Tails to ensure it couldn't escape the blast radius of No. 18.

"Damn it!"

"Water Style: Water Prison Jutsu!"

The jutsu, often used to trap enemies, was repurposed as a shield. Yagura could feel his unease growing, but with the Three-Tails restrained and time running out, it was the best he could muster.

"It's useless!"

"Art is an explosion! Katsu!"

In an instant, blinding light erupted from the blast site, turning the surrounding sea into a brilliant daytime. It was as if a sun had materialized, swallowing the Three-Tails whole.

Moments later, a thunderous roar reverberated through the air, followed by a shockwave rivaling the most devastating Wind Style jutsu and scorching steam that eclipsed even powerful Fire Style techniques.

No. 18.

A clay bomb of catastrophic proportions—Deidara's C3 masterpiece—its destructive force could flatten an entire village. This version of No. 18 was leagues above the one from the original timeline.

[Hoshigaki Kisame's Shock Value...]

Even Sasori, accustomed to Deidara's antics, found himself impressed yet again.

"That brat," Sasori muttered as he maneuvered Hiruko to dodge the tsunami spawned by the explosion. Though he grumbled aloud, he felt a pang of frustration deep inside.

"Deidara might have surpassed me..." Sasori clenched his fists. "I won't let that happen. I'm the greatest puppeteer, Sasori of the Red Sand!"

"Oops!" White Zetsu exclaimed, watching the waves settle.

"Looks like Yagura is down!"

On the ocean's surface, Yagura floated unconscious, the Three-Tails having disappeared.

"Deidara's art is terrifying," White Zetsu remarked, his tone almost celebratory. "Even Madara-sama would have a hard time ignoring this, right?"

Black Zetsu sighed. "At least we had contingencies. If not for pairing Kisame with him, this mission might have gone sideways."

"True, true!" White Zetsu chimed in. "Deidara looks exhausted. There's no way he can take on Kisame now!"

Deidara descended on his clay bird, breathing heavily. Just as he reached Yagura's unconscious body, a massive bandaged blade appeared, hooking Yagura before Deidara could react.

"Kisame, this is my prize. If you want to complete the leader's mission, go find your own Tailed Beast," Deidara snapped.

Kisame smirked, his small eyes gleaming dangerously. "Sorry, Deidara. Not this time."

"What do you mean? Are you betraying the organization?"

"Betrayal?" Kisame chuckled. "It doesn't matter. I can't just stand by and let someone take my village's Mizukage."

"Fine," Deidara said, reaching into his clay pouch. "If it's a fight you want, then so be it."

"You sure?" Kisame grinned, setting Yagura down gently. "You just fought a Tailed Beast. You look spent."

"Don't underestimate my art!" Deidara shouted, masking his true intentions.

"Good," Kisame said, brandishing his sword. "But don't forget—out here on the sea, I have the advantage too."
