The morning came earlier than Q had planned, and she knew it wasn't her usual routine because, for once, she was awake before Juliette had managed to make the kitchen sound like an orchestra of chaos. The room was still steeped in the dim light of dawn when she stretched and yawned, her eyes bleary and barely open.
She caught sight of Juliette just as the other girl was pulling on her gloves, preparing to leave. Instinctively, the words tumbled out of her mouth before she could remember who she was talking to.
"Mornin'." Q muttered, her voice still thick with sleep as she yawned and rubbed her eyes.
Juliette froze mid-motion, turning her head with an arched brow and a look that suggested Q had just tracked mud onto a royal carpet.
