Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-Astrum

Ever since humanity started exploring space, I made sure to get myself involved. I've always been fascinated by the unknown, and I love the thrill of discovering new planets which are likely to support human life. The first planet humanity discovered was planet Chlolis. It was a planet filled with plants. As soon as it was discovered, rich people ventured there. Now in 2070, technology is more advanced that we use teleporters to get to new planets. No need to ask me how because the author will explain as the story goes on.

I had to pass some tests and exams to become a licensed space Explorer of Astrum. It was hard but I managed to get there through my determination. Well, very soon I'll be travelling through space. The name is Xander Stormhold by the way.

"Xander Stormhold and George Thorne should present themselves in the main office in the next five minutes", a siren sounded.

"Looks like the higher ups are looking for us. We need to head there ASAP." A chubby boy with glasses said as he had his gaze on the siren that made the announcement.

"This is so exciting George. We're about to explore space for the first time on our own. It's not like we'll see it on TV. We're going there by ourselves." Xander said excitedly as he exited his room and headed into the hallway filled with machineries.

"Hey wait for me", George followed

Behind a giant door to a specific office stood Xander and his friend. The gave it a knock and the door slide open reveling a huge office filled with miniature spaceships and aircrafts.

"It's a pleasure meeting you two", A huge man in suit spoke as he extended his hand to give Xander a handshake. He did same to George.

"I hope you know why you're both here?"

"Yes, it's our turn to explore space right?", Xander answered confidently.

"It's something like that." Joshua said as he ushered the boys to take a seat and also went on sit opposite to them. "We've performed lot's of tests on you two and you've managed to pass all of them. So we'd like both of you to join a team who'll be scouting a new discovered planet. The portal gave it a green colour meaning that it's safe."

Portals usually give colours to signify how safe or dangerous a planet is. Red colour means very dangerous that beasts can exist in that planets, yellow means it has some dangers but they're minor and Green means that it's very safe and likely to support human life.

"That's great sir but what happens to red planets?", George asked.

"The military takes care of red planets", Joshua replied. "Any other questions?"

"Sir, I think we as explorers should have the right to use weapons. We can't just believe in what technology says. Don't you think that there can be same inaccuracies?" Xander asked.

"I have faith in technology Xander. There has never been a situation where the colour code a portal gives to a planet is wrong. So why'reyou saying this now Xander?"

"It'snot like that Sir, I'mjust saying that...."

"Enough Xander! Do you want to drop out or explore?"

"I want to explore sir!"

"Then have faith in our technology. Get ready for you'll be leaving tomorrow. You can leave."

"Yes sir."

It was night time but someone couldn't sleep due to his excitement.

"George, are you asleep ", Xander asked.

"I'm so excited that I can't wait for tomorrow to come. Plus, it seems the author doesn't want me to sleep at all. But Xander, why did you question technology?" George said as he was twisting and turning on the bed.

Xander hesitated for a moment before answering. "I'm not sure, George. I guess I just have a bad feeling about this. The technology is advanced, but it's still just a machine. And machines can make mistakes."

"But what kind of mistake could it make?" George asked. "The portal gave the planet a green color, which means it's safe."

"I know," Xander said. "But what if it's wrong? What if there's something on that planet that the portal didn't detect?"

"I don't know, Xander," George said. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see."

The next morning, Xander and George met up with the rest of their team in the launch bay. They were all young and eager, filled with excitement and anticipation.

"Welcome, team," said a woman in a white lab coat. "I'm Dr. Emily Carter, and I'll be your lead scientist on this mission."

Dr. Carter explained that their mission was to scout the new planet and gather data on its atmosphere, geology, and potential for supporting human life.

"We'll be using the latest teleportation technology to get there," Dr. Carter said. "It's a safe and efficient way to travel, but there are always risks involved."

Xander couldn't help but think about his concerns as Dr. Carter spoke. He hoped that the technology wouldn't fail them, and that they would all return home safely.

With a deep breath, Xander and his team stepped into the teleportation chamber. The machine whirred to life, and they felt a strange tingling sensation as they were transported to another world.

When their senses returned, they found themselves standing on the surface of the new planet. The air was fresh and clean, and the sun shone brightly overhead. All around them, lush green plants stretched as far as the eye could see.

"Wow," George said. "This place is amazing."

Xander nodded in agreement. But even as he marveled at the beauty of the new unnamed planet, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.

"Maybe it's because I'm in a new place"
