The air in the office was thick with tension, so heavy that Evelyn felt like she couldn't breathe. She had always prided herself on control—her company, her decisions, her rules. But with Leo, every rule she had set for herself was slipping through her fingers like sand.
She hadn't expected this. She hadn't expected him.
Leo stood in front of her, his presence commanding, yet strangely magnetic. His eyes were dark, his lips parted just enough for her to see the desire burning in them. The man wasn't just her secretary—he was a storm, one she couldn't control.
"You look beautiful today," Leo said, his voice low, thick with something that made her pulse race. He had that effect on her. It was maddening.
Evelyn couldn't focus. She could feel his words lingering in the air between them, and her body was betraying her. She had spent years building this empire, pushing away distractions, refusing to let anyone into her world. But Leo had waltzed right in—and now she was the one who couldn't escape.
"You shouldn't say things like that," she managed, her voice barely above a whisper, but she knew he heard every word. She was so close to losing control.
"Why?" Leo took a step forward, his gaze never leaving hers. "You think I'm just your PA? That I don't see you?"
Her heart skipped a beat. "That's exactly what you are," Evelyn replied, but the words felt hollow even to her.
Leo smiled, the kind of smile that made her pulse skip. "Maybe. But I think I deserve a little more than that."
Before she could respond, he was right in front of her, close enough that she could feel the heat radiating off his body. He reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face—his fingers lingering just a little too long.
Evelyn's breath hitched, her body fighting between pushing him away and pulling him closer. She wanted to tell him to back off, to remind him who was in charge here. But the words didn't come.
Leo didn't wait for her permission. His lips descended on hers with a force that took her by surprise, overwhelming her with an intensity she wasn't prepared for. She froze for a split second before kissing him back, just as desperately, just as fiercely.
His hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer, until there was no space left between them. Evelyn's mind screamed for her to stop, but her body refused to listen. She was drowning in him, in the heat, in the want.
Leo pulled back just long enough to catch his breath, his forehead pressed against hers. "You're not as untouchable as you think," he whispered, his words a challenge.
Evelyn's heart was racing, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She was tangled in the web he'd spun, and she didn't know if she wanted to escape or surrender completely.
For the first time in her life, she wasn't in control. And that terrified her.
"I'm not afraid of you, Leo," she said, though her voice was shaky, uncertain.
Leo chuckled darkly. "Then let me show you just how much you want to be."
With that, he kissed her again, deeper this time, pulling her further into the storm of desire and uncertainty.
And Evelyn knew, with every fiber of her being, that there was no turning back.
