NEW YORK
Roy and I arrived in New York and I placed a call to my Chief personal security guard, if there was anyone I could trust to find Mia in less than a week aside myself, then it would be him. Right now, I needed to focus on my inauguration ceremony as the new ceo of my father's technological company. It would be taking place in two months time and I could not afford to be distracted. I had been groomed right from when I was born to take over that company. I was strictly homeschooled until college, attained all my degrees with excellent results, won so many awards that I totally lost count. As the only child and presumptive heir to the Larson Corporation, I had lived with the expectation of becoming ceo all my life and I wasn't going to let anything ruin that. I know that for the next two months, all eyes would be on me, waiting for me to fuck up, which I never would. I had too much control for that.
"Hey, what are you thinking about so intensely?" Roy asked as we headed to the car sent to pick us up by my father. " nothing", I said. "Hmm, are you sure? I thought you were nervous over the inauguration. Seemed like you were brooding over som…." I cut him off, "spend a lot of time thinking about me, don't you?" "Only to contemplate how sad your existence is, you literally overthink so much and you are so pridef…", "finish that sentence and I will send this voice recording to Aunt May this instant" I said holding up my phone. "Zipppp", Roy said motioning to zip his mouth with his fingers. "Good", I said.
When we arrived at my parents villa, I headed to my father's home office after seeing my mom. As usual, she was really occupied with the Christmas decorations. She was never one to back down from a competition especially one that had to do with her long standing glorious record of throwing the most lavish Christmas parties every year. The thought of someone else being ranked Queen of Christmas seasons made her shiver because she knew that Roy's mom will never let her live it down. In our family's large circle of friend, Roy's mom and mine were the closest but were always at each other's throat for a reason I couldn't ascertain.
