It could be called a flawless defence without a single opening to exploit.
At this moment, Cloyster stood as an impenetrable fortress, like a sealed tin can. Opening it without the proper tools seemed an insurmountable problem.
Kai pondered the situation, his eyes scanning the surroundings. Among the gang members, he noticed a young man with a golden chain hanging from his waist, swaying slightly with his movements.
In a flash, an idea sparked in Kai's mind. If nothing else is working, why not give this method a try?
"Kirlia, use Psychic to lift Cloyster into the air!" he commanded.
Hearing Kai's order, Misha sneered. "Are you trying the same thing again? Don't forget no matter how hard you smash Cloyster into the ground, it won't make a difference!"
Ignoring her taunts, Kai shouted another command as Cloyster floated high above the ground. "Good! Now spin it around fast!"
"What!?" Misha exclaimed in disbelief.
Kirlia's fingers twitched, and under its telekinetic influence, Cloyster began spinning in mid-air, like a windmill. Its rotations became faster and faster until it was a blur.
Ten spins. Twenty. Fifty. A hundred…
Even the gang members below grew dizzy just watching the spectacle. Then, with a loud crash, Cloyster was hurled to the ground.
Boom!
Although its sturdy shell appeared intact, Misha called out cautiously, "Cloyster… are you okay!?"
The next moment, Cloyster's shell creaked open slightly. It looked disoriented and nauseous, expelling a vile mixture of yellow and green fluids onto the ground.
The pungent smell wafted through the air, making the situation even worse.
Inside Cloyster's mind, the world was spinning uncontrollably. Everything seemed upside down as if its reality had been flipped.
"I can't believe it actually worked," Kai murmured in surprise. "Kirlia, don't let it recover! Use Magical Leaf!"
Seeing Kirlia prepare for another attack, Misha shouted desperately, "Cloyster! Retreat into your shell!"
But Cloyster either couldn't hear her or was too dazed to respond. Misha could only watch as the Magical Leaf barrage struck again and again.
Thwack! Thwack!
The spinning had left Cloyster vulnerable. Despite its defensive strength, it couldn't shake off the damage. After a final flurry of glowing leaves, Cloyster let out a low groan and fainted.
Kai smirked. "Looks like I've won."
Before Misha could respond, a brilliant white light engulfed Kirlia.
"It's evolving?" Kai muttered, his voice filled with awe.
Kirlia, his first Pokémon and faithful companion throughout his journey, finally reached its next stage.
After countless battles and trials, it was evolving into Gardevoir.
As the light faded, a tall, elegant humanoid figure emerged. Gardevoir's slender frame, flowing white gown-like body, and green highlights gave it a regal appearance.
Its red fin-like horns, once on its head, were now on its chest and back, exuding a sense of power and grace.
The Pokédex chimed in:
"Gardevoir, the Embrace Pokémon. Psychic and Fairy-type. The evolved form of Kirlia. Gardevoir can sense emotions and predict the future to a limited extent. It has the ability to create black holes or distort space to protect its Trainer, even at the cost of its own life."
"Wow!" Misha exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. "It's even more beautiful than before!"
Gardevoir walked gracefully to Kai's side. Kai reached out to pat its head but stopped, realizing it now stood nearly as tall as he did.
Its height had doubled, and its elegant demeanour gave it an almost human-like presence.
"Congratulations, Gardevoir," Kai said with a soft smile. "You've reached your final form."
At that moment, Misha and her companion, Martha, approached.
"You're incredible," Martha admitted. "We lost this match fair and square."
Misha signalled to one of the gang members, who wheeled a bicycle over. "As agreed, you can borrow this bike. But we'll be following you to ensure it's returned safely and in one piece."
"That's fine with me," Kai replied.
After recalling Gardevoir into its Poké Ball, Kai mounted the bike and began pedalling toward the bridge. About ten meters behind, the gang followed in their own vehicles.
As he passed the security checkpoint, the guard from earlier gave him an admiring nod. With that, Kai entered the sprawling, unfinished bridge.
But far in the distance, a figure stood atop a building, watching through binoculars.
Confirming Kai's identity, the observer pulled out a phone and dialled a number. "This is the observer. Target Number Seven has been spotted near Fuchsia City, crossing the sea bridge toward Sunnytown."
A raspy voice on the other end replied, "Understood. Keep following him. I'll inform the enforcers…"
---
Kai pedalled along the smooth bridge for over half an hour before reaching a rest area.
Just as he was about to stop, an unseen force yanked him off the bike, flinging him several meters away.
Boom!
A powerful explosion followed, obliterating the bicycle and leaving a gaping hole in the bridge.
Stunned, Kai stared at the scene while the gang members behind him slammed their brakes in shock.
"What just happened?!" one of them shouted. "Why did the bike explode!?"
They exchanged confused glances, but Kai's attention was fixed on the bridge pillar above. Four figures stood there, staring down coldly.
It was the Team Rocket executives Archer, Ariana, Proton, and Petrel. The same four who had crossed paths with Kai before.
