Chapter 1 - Death game

Death Game

Written by: Zack Fare

Prologue

My name is Hazaru. I was not a good person in life - no, I was a wretched, despicable being. I considered myself the living embodiment of evil, a god among mortals. I killed and killed, deluding myself into thinking the consequences of my atrocities would never catch up to me. How foolishly naive I was; I was merely a petty serial killer, but with a frighteningly brilliant and twisted mind. The mere thought of living, breathing creatures disgusts me, and I would do whatever it takes to emerge victorious - I couldn't care less if they were parents, children, the elderly, or the disabled. All living people disgust me, especially those who believe themselves superior. I'd relish seeing the horror and despair etched onto their faces as I tear them apart limb by limb. I simply do not care.

I knew the police were coming, and I couldn't fight them. I just didn't want to wither away in a jail cell. The cops soon stormed my abode, and somehow, I mustered the gall to put up a struggle. Before I could even draw my weapon, I was mercilessly riddled with their bullets. The agonizing pain was both excruciating and perversely pleasurable. Karma? It's not as dreadful as one might think - in fact, it's almost soothing, wallowing in the indescribable, heinous sins I committed. Falling to the ground in a heap felt like slow motion as I approached the precipice of death. No, karma is not soothing or good. I was a god! I decided who lived and who died. I foolishly thought I would prevail. Death is agonizing, death is sorrowful, yet so, so beautifully macabre. I have no regrets.

When I thought the sweet embrace of death had claimed me, I awoke in a dark, empty room, chained to a solitary chair. A dim, gloomy light periodically flickered, casting an eerie, shadowy glow that illuminated my bleak surroundings. It felt as if an eternity had passed, but in reality, only a few hours had gone by. I yearned to be free, to kill again. I cried out, my voice tinged with madness, "I know I'm not alone in this godforsaken place. It's too meticulously staged for me to simply rot for my sins." I let out a sickening, raspy chuckle and hurled my body forward, my head slamming against the cold, hard ground with a sickening thud.

Wincing in pain, I felt around the room, eventually finding a knob which I hastily turned. Instantly, a blinding light flooded my vision, and I found myself in a massive, sterile white room devoid of any furniture, standing alongside seven other ominous figures. A colossal screen flickered to life, and a dark, foreboding entity addressed us.

"Look what we have here... some of the most twisted, depraved minds in human history," the voice chimed, almost giddily intrigued by the gathered group before it.

A young man, roughly my age with vibrant purple hair and piercing blue eyes, spoke up, his voice cracked and uneven. "Crazy?" He muttered angrily under his breath, his lips curling into a sickening smile. "I'm not crazy. You know what's crazy, though? You're even more deranged than us for assembling the most malevolent individuals in one place. You're just stupid, idiotic, insane. I'm unhinged, but you're beyond comprehension."

Suddenly, a mysterious force seized the man and swiftly bisected his entire body. Shocked, I recoiled, not from the grotesque display, but from the sheer effortlessness with which he was eliminated. It's a power I crave, a power I must possess! I chuckled darkly and immediately eyed the second person closest to me, cautiously approaching and staying close. You'll soon understand why.

The ominous figure on the screen grew increasingly agitated, and with a thunderous shout, it spoke once more.

"Let's play a little game... a death game, if you will. In this game, all of you must pair up into groups of two and be dropped into a massive, labyrinthine building. The objective is to outsmart and eliminate one another. The last group remaining will be resurrected together. Have fun."

This was the moment I realized: This death game is going to be an absolute delight! With my brilliant, analytical mind, I will surely emerge victorious. I'll outmaneuver and outthink these fools, and then I'll relish in the look of utter despair on their faces as I extinguish their wretched lives. Yes, this is going to be most entertaining indeed.

The creature loomed over us, overseeing out every move and finally, it began to spoke.. "I'll make this even more interesting.." it began, a smile etched onto his face. "I'll give you all powers.. Each power will be unique although some might me more... Overpowered than others.." suddenly a golden glow filled the room and I saw a seal with a golden eye etched onto my arm, suddenly a status screen appeared Infront of my face. It only had one word written onto it, eyes of submission- the absolute will to make anything and everything obey this sounded interesting to me FINALLY SOMETHING GOOD... My karma must not be that bad compared to anyone in the room, I assume.

As soon as the glow started it disappeared and the room transformed into a labyrinthine structure, sprawling stone structures surrounding the area and monsters that loomed around. I Spawned directly into a monsters face, not panicking I used my skill. "ABSOLUTE SUBMISSION!" I screamed out and a pink glow encompassed the room. The creature in question fell to the floor, onto it's knees waiting on my orders apparently.
