Chapter 6 - Transportation

"I'd prefer to leave as soon as possible, if you're all okay with that?" Excitement filled my being like a light piercing the darkness. I had no patience to wait. School was something I yearned for the throughout my isolated past. Even if I wasn't fully prepared for my future responsibilities, everything beyond this point would be beneficial to guiding me through the correct paths.

The trio of angel's focused their warm, trusting gazes on me. Uriel wore her usual smile, still reminiscent of the morning sun's gentle warmth, like it was wrapping me in a comfortable embrace. Gabriel's expression, filled with pride, radiated unwavering trust and loyalty towards me. And then there was Michael—his laid-back smile was tampered by the calculative gaze hiding just behind his eyes.

Meeting these three right at the start of my new life was perhaps the luckiest thing that could've happened to me. Well, aside from being granted a new life in the first place.

"Lord before Uriel sends you down to the mortal plain. You should know that if you ever need to contact us its doable through the cell phone I gave you." Michael announced.

Gabriel's head snapped towards Michael, "I guess you can be somewhat bright after all, Michael." His response came quickly—a playful jab aimed at his companion. The sharpness of his teasing took me back slightly. Who would've thought Gabriel could talk like that? I suppose they're rivals? Even so, hidden beneath his teasing, I caught the faintest hint of gratitude woven into his voice.

I smiled, barely holding back a light chuckle as Uriel and I watched the duo erupt into bickering antics I hadn't witnessed before. There usual air of professionalism and seriousness melting away as they hurled childish insults back and forth.

"I always imagined angels to be high above mortal antics like this..." I muttered, my words escaping in an amused whisper.

Turning away from the duo, my attention focus on Uriel, "I believe Michael said you would be transporting me?" Her humoured gaze swished away from the two, locking with my own.

"That's correct." She answered, "The silver city resides in a separate dimension than the human world. Raphael and I are freely able to create gates between the two separate dimensions." She explained, straightforwardly.

My mind spun in fascination, "Just you and Raphael?" I paused my eyes drifting aimlessly as I tried to think. "But why? What if the other angels need to leave?"

A soft laugh escaped her lips, her smile brightening as she watched my curiosity unfold before her. "Ever since your memory-loss you've been a lot more lively, it's nice." she whispered, her words a hushed breath almost drowned under the crushing waves of Gabriel and Michael's bickering.

"Its true, though. If any of the angels ever need to traverse to the human world, they must come to either me or Raphael. Because of this, one of us must remain with Heaven at all times." Her words definitely helped expand my view but curiosity still chewed away at me.

"Why just you and Raphael?" Her eyebrows knitted together as she took a moment think before giving me an answer.

"The Lord never fully explained why only Raphael and I were bestowed the power. However, I'm grateful he did, today I take it as solid proof of the trust he had in me." Her beaming smile radiated as she recalled the pleasant memory.

My gaze shifted towards Michael and Gabriel, "I think they'll be like that for a while." refocusing on her, I continued, "Do you think you could transport me right now?"

Her focus snapped away from the duo and focused on me again, "Right this moment?" Her words slightly laced with shock.

"If that isn't a problem."

"It's perfectly doable, Lord Caelus."

Uriel focused, inhaling deeply as her arm extended forward, the motion deliberate, like the poised tension of a bow drawn taut. Golden light shimmered across the silver walls, swirling around her like living sunlight. Her autumn-brown eyes faded, displaced by a warm gold, reminiscent of the sun breaking through the horizon at dawn. The energy flowed as fluidly as a river, dancing joyfully along her arm to her hand. Finally reaching its destination, the light coalesced, taking form as a complex, intricate magic circle that hummed a quiet power just inches above her palm.

Caelus, distracted by the magnificence of the event unfurling before him, failed to notice the light's subtle shift. The warm glow had vanished from its resting place, Uriel's hand, materialising beneath his very form, slightly larger in size. Caelus was encapsulated within a veil of gold, and the complex formation began to spin. It's intricate designs quickly blurred, lost in the whirlwind of motion as the spinning increase in speed.

Suddenly, the light dispersed, and the silver walls Caelus had grown familiar with vanished, replaced by a small room painted in soft shades grey. The room was modest, yet every corner was filled with purpose— a kitchen, living area, bathroom, and a bedroom. While the space was compact, it had been used to its full potential leaving a content and comfortable feeling with Caelus.

His eyes toured the room, bouncing eagerly from one detail to the next. "This must be dorm room!" He exclaimed ecstatically, his voice effervescing with sheer joy.

Remembering the cell phone Michael had handed him, Caelus reached into his pocket. Powering it on, he quickly swiped through the menu, taking note of the important apps. Among them were the banking app, Google, and the messaging/calling app, which already have five numbers saved.

"Michael said he made it so I can contact them when I needed, but I didn't expect him to put Raphael and Azrael too." Caelus shrugged it off. He couldn't predict when he might need to contact one of them, so in the end, he wouldn't complain.

The messaging app would eventually become the most important app in his life, acting as the bridge to stay connected with the friends he was soon to make. The idea of such a thing made his heart race, pounding like the thunder of a storm stirring to life.
