Chapter 2 - Waking of Caelus

A soft hiss alerted me of my ability to hear, but I should be dead. Dead people can't hear, right? Weakly, I attempted to open my eyes but a blinding light prevented them from opening.

Could I just be dreaming? Or is this the afterlife..? I attempted to move my body, shockingly, I had sensation in the tips of my fingers. It was weak yet present still.

Once more I mustered up the strength and struggled, but succeseeded in opening my eyes. A mundane view of a ceiling shimmering silver, that's what blessed my eyes after waking from death...

Feebly, I forced my upper body into a sitting up position and tried to gauge my surroundings. I was in a small empty room it had silver walls patterned with intricate gold designs. Other than the strange device I had woken up in the room was strangely vacant of anything else.

The device was a small cylinderical chamber, it had an open glass door and a crimson red interior. The hissing I heard must've come from the door to this chamber opening. But, that begs the question of how I even got here and where I even am.

From the rooms designs there was no way I could tell what it was for my only clue would be the chamber. I stepped out of the stasis chamber, suprisingly easy, and looked my self over in the reflection of the glass door.

My body was completely different, despite it not being crazy muscular it wasn't sickly and pale anymore. My hair and eyes had even changed, snow-white and pure gold — paired with suit of similar colour palette.

I was cut off from looking myself over when a strange sliding sound caught my attention from the other side of the room. Walking in from a door I had'nt even been able to see was a beautiful woman walking with divine grace while looking down at the clipboard in her soft grasp.

The woman had autumn brown hair and beautiful hazel eyes to match — it was safe to say I hadn't seen a woman with more grace in my life. She practically glided along the room towards the stasis chamber. Each step she took looked as if it was planned out before she had even thought of taking it.

The moment she reached the stasis chamber she looked away from her clipboard, her soft expression morphed into shock as she looked up to find me not in the stasis chamber but standing next to it.

"Lord Caelus!?" She screamed, "You're awake!" Her expression morphed from shock, to joy, and finally into relief.

"I was worried you would never wake up!" She shouted passionately, dropping the clipboard she was holding and rushing to tightly wrap her arms around my body. She weakly rested her head on my chest, sensing her worry I slowly returned the hug.

After a while she calmed down and I took my opportunity, "I apologize Miss but I'm sure I would have remembered a woman as beautiful as you had we met before." Instantly her face flushed crimson.

"Lord C-Caelus... Called me b-beautiful???" She muttered tumbling back away from me giddily, although her blush seemed to fade as she fully took in what I had said. "Pardon? What do you mean you don't remember meeting me Lord Caelus?" She questioned, the worry on her face returning once more.

"That too, I have no clue who 'Lord Caelus' is?" Her worried expression morphed into one of riddled confusion. She didn't speak instantly and for a while the room was left in silence.

"So you mean to say... You do not remember me or yourself whatsoever?" She questioned once again, finally breaking the awkwardness I felt filling the silence.

"That's right." I quickly responded with a nod. She went silent once more but this time for only a fraction of the previous time.

"What about Gabriel?" She asked and I shook my head in denial, "Micheal, Raphael, Azreal..? Lucifer?" She lifted off more names but they just sounded like Angels from the Bible... I didn't know any of them. I was never a big believer in God either.

"You really don't know any of them?" She asked once more for a final confirmation and reluctantly I nodded.

"None of those names ring a bell. Ive never met any of them before." I answered gaining a bewildered expression from the woman... She hadn't told me her name..

"Oh and I should ask what your name is Miss." I quickly added on, possibly breaking her train of thought.

She shook herself out of her thoughts and greeted me with a warning smile, "Well, Lord Caelus, I'm Uriel!" She announced proudly. I couldn't help but wonder if I was being pranked but I'm also very sure I died...

"It's nice to meet you, Uriel." I answered with a small smile of my own, which for some reason caused Uriel to turn around in a fit of coughing.

"Are you okay..?" I asked worriedly, but Uriel quickly turned around with a thumbs up.

"Oh! I'm fine Lord Caelus!" She exclaimed rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment, "I just got a little surprised is all." Surprised by a smile? I wished I could say aloud but it just felt wrong.

"Now that we have been reintroduced we really should focus on the problem of your memory loss. I mean I didn't even know it was possible for you to get hurt let alone lose all your memories." She explained completely nonchalant over the fact she believes I'm immune to injuries.

"And how shall we deal with that?" I probed, that awkward silence filled the room again she delved into her thoughts.

"Honestly, I'm not sure... You've always been mysterious even to us angels... We'll have to involve the other Seraphim." She explained, casually mentioning Angels as if they weren't a supernatrual being but rather a regular everyday occurrence.

Am I even in my own world anymore?
