Chapter 30 - The Night of Reckoning

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows over the forest surrounding the enslaved village. Rodensky and Emmanuel finalized their strategy, understanding the stakes of their plan. Twenty adversaries occupied the village, including formidable B-rank and C-rank challengers who had enslaved the locals to mine a strange, glowing mineral from the nearby mountains.

"We'll divide and conquer," Rodensky said, reviewing the plan. "I'll sneak in from the back to free the villagers, while you and Abaddon keep them distracted at the front gate."

Emmanuel cracked his knuckles, grinning. "Sounds like a party. Let's show these guys what we're made of."

The Assault Begins

As Emmanuel and Abaddon approached the village gates, the guards spotted them, their expressions shifting from amusement to annoyance.

"Back again? Haven't had enough, huh?" one of the guards jeered, his weapon gleaming in the moonlight.

Emmanuel unsheathed his sword, the steel reflecting Abaddon's fiery glow. "Oh, I'm more than ready this time."

Abaddon unleashed a cone of flame, forcing the guards to scatter. Emmanuel darted forward, engaging the nearest opponent with precision and ferocity. The commotion drew reinforcements, including two familiar figures: a burly swordsman and a sharp-eyed mage.

"We'll handle this," the swordsman growled, charging at Emmanuel as the mage began weaving spells to support him.

The Rear Assault

While chaos erupted at the front gate, Rodensky and Rokura slipped into the village from the rear. Using his agility, Rodensky incapacitated several guards with swift, calculated strikes. Rokura's sheer presence kept others at bay, the lion's crystalline wings shimmering ominously in the moonlight.

Rodensky quickly reached the villagers, who were shackled near a dimly lit mine entrance. Their faces were etched with fear and exhaustion.

"You're safe now," Rodensky whispered. "Follow me, and stay quiet."

One villager hesitated, clutching a child to her chest. "What if they catch us? They're too strong."

Rodensky met her gaze, his voice firm. "Not tonight. Trust me."

A Fierce Duel

At the front gate, Emmanuel faced the swordsman and mage in a brutal clash. The swordsman's relentless strikes kept Emmanuel on the defensive, while the mage's precision spells targeted Abaddon.

"You're not bad," the swordsman admitted, his blade sparking against Emmanuel's. "But you're out of your depth."

Emmanuel smirked, his blade igniting with Abaddon's fire. "We'll see about that."

Using his agility, Emmanuel outmaneuvered the swordsman, landing a decisive strike that sent him sprawling. Abaddon roared, unleashing a torrent of flames that overwhelmed the mage's defenses. Just as victory seemed assured, a powerful shockwave knocked Emmanuel and Abaddon to the ground.

Emerging from the village chief's house was a tall figure clad in ornate armor, exuding an aura of authority and menace. The remaining challengers bowed as the figure stepped forward, his fists crackling with energy.

"You, insect, have caused enough trouble," the figure said, his voice cold. "Time to end this."

A New Threat

Rodensky arrived just in time to see Emmanuel recovering from the shockwave. His Eye of Truth activated, revealing the details of their new foe:

Name: Burgos

Rank: A

Special Abilities: Aura Suppression, Elemental Infusion, Adaptive Combatant

"This guy's on a whole other level," Rodensky muttered, gripping his weapon tightly.

"No kidding," Emmanuel replied, wincing as he stood.

Burgos raised his fist , pointing it at them. "Your little rebellion ends here. Surrender, and I might let you live."

Rodensky and Emmanuel exchanged a glance, their resolve unshaken.

"Ready for round two?" Rodensky asked.

"Always," Emmanuel replied, his sword glowing with renewed energy.

Rokura and Abaddon joined their side, their combined roars shaking the ground. The battle for the village—and their survival—was about to reach its climax.
