Chapter 35 - Chapter 6: Chu’s Compromise (Part 2)

Zheng Zha didn't ask Zhang Jie to carry him anymore. The distance was not too far, and he could take the opportunity to move his arms and legs. However, his right arm was severely shattered, and moving it even slightly caused excruciating pain. Helpless, he wrapped his entire right arm to his body with strips of cloth. The agony of doing so was evident from his drenched in sweat appearance. Seeing this, Zhan Lan's heart tightened. The small woman could only squeeze his left hand tightly. It was at this moment that she realized his left hand had become so weak from pain that he could barely hold hers.

Once his right arm was bandaged, Zheng Zha was drenched in cold sweat. He struggled to move his body, barely managing a forced smile as he said,"Well done, the right arm won't be in the way now. Let's go, we need to speed up."

Zhan Lan still held his left hand, hesitating before saying,"We... should we go back to the control room instead? I know how to close the isolation wall. We can stay there until the spaceship returns to Earth in this era and let Earth's military deal with them. We really don't need to take this risk, especially with your condition..."

Zheng Zha was taken aback. He subtly withdrew his left hand and pointed to the ground, saying,"Look at the ground. Do you see the many indentations? That's alien blood. They're intelligent creatures, and when they feel threatened, they injure themselves to break through the isolation wall. These three aliens escaped from the isolation wall this way."

"If we close the isolation wall and try to return to Earth, the aliens will be starving and will definitely injure themselves again to break through. And there might be even more aliens. Do you remember the four people brought into Room 15? So, our only chance to survive is to kill the queen before those four aliens show up. Otherwise, with Chu Xuan's intelligence, he wouldn't have risked going to the weapons room. He knows this is our only opportunity."

Zheng Zha smiled and ruffled Zhan Lan's hair."You just follow us. Don't worry, I will never give up on my comrades... I won't entrust my survival to fate. I will live, no matter what."

Because of Zheng Zha's persistence, the other two had no choice but to follow him toward the weapons room. The gunfire ahead had grown louder and more intense. Zheng Zha's body once again tensed up. With his right arm bound, his running appeared somewhat unsteady, but after running a few dozen meters, he quickly adapted to running with one arm.

"Zhang Jie, take the longest spiral spear. I don't know if the one with the bomb can instantly kill them, but if it doesn't, I'll need you to stand behind me and hold the spear steady. I will block the alien's tail or tongue with the spear. You need to keep it away from us... Right now, besides throwing the spear and blocking a bit, I'm not capable of close combat. Zhang Jie, no matter what, don't retreat even a step!"

Zheng Zha gave these instructions to Zhang Jie before taking the spiral spear with the bomb from Zhan Lan. He handed Zhang Jie a regular spiral spear, and the three of them were now only a hallway away from the weapons room. When they turned the corner, they would see two aliens... or the scattered remains of humans.

(With such intense gunfire, Chu Xuan must have heard the explosion earlier. In other words, all the aliens' attention is on them right now. Two fully matured aliens... The first strike must land, or we will definitely die. I cannot die... I must survive!)

Zheng Zha took a deep breath, and with a powerful push of his legs, he shot forward. His speed made the other two freeze for a moment. As he reached the corner of the hallway, he didn't stop. Instead, he charged straight toward the wall, his speed never slowing down.

The air thickened again. Zheng Zha had grown more accustomed to this extreme state, where his physical strength, vision, and reflexes were pushed to their limits. This was the limit of what he could do. The state of having infinite combat instincts, of knowing that he would survive no matter what, only came when he was on the edge of fear and death. He still could not control it.

Zheng Zha stepped up the wall a few steps. At the same time, he saw the back half of an alien's body at the door to the weapons room. Its front half had already entered, and the other alien was nowhere to be seen. In other words, the second alien was likely inside the weapons room.

In mid-air, Zheng Zha bit open the safety pin of the bomb on the spiral spear, then hurled it toward the alien. However, since he was left-handed, the strength and accuracy of the throw didn't compare to when he used his right hand. He had aimed for the alien's stomach, but the spear instead struck lower on its waist. The alien instantly retreated from the weapons room. When it looked toward Zheng Zha, the bomb in its waist exploded violently!

The blast from the spiral spear bomb nearly blew apart the alien's waist. Its intestines and yellow blood splattered everywhere, and the hallway seemed to be drenched in a highly corrosive acid, hissing as steel was corroded. White smoke filled the hallway, and even Zheng Zha could only vaguely see a huge black shadow on the ground.

"Did it die? Is it dead?"

Zheng Zha rolled a few times on the ground, disregarding the pain in his right arm. He kept his attention on the black shadow. Just as he was about to throw the spiral spear bomb again, the shadow suddenly jumped up and charged straight at him. The speed of the alien was so fast that he couldn't throw the spear in time. The alien with a huge hole in its waist rushed out of the white smoke and pounced on Zheng Zha.

Just as Zheng Zha was about to block its head with the spiral spear, a hand suddenly shoved him from behind. Zhang Jie charged ahead, and as the alien's tongue shot out, Zhang Jie thrust the spiral spear into the alien's mouth. At the same time, the alien's long, tooth-filled, savage tongue pierced through Zhang Jie's shoulder.

In an instant, blood splattered everywhere, and Zheng Zha saw nothing but red before his eyes!
