But Zahir, unaware and likely unable to imagine the child, naturally questioned Cesare’s statement.
“What does that mean?”
Cesare closed his eyes without responding for a while.
Zahir waited patiently, even under the scorching sun, for him to speak again.
As the silence stretched, Cesare sighed deeply.
He seemed determined not to back down until he got an answer.
Despite being ignored over and over, Zahir’s stubbornness was somewhat admirable.
Cesare knew better than anyone that Zahir was the type of person who would just stand there forever until he said something.
So, he decided to test him with a taunt.
“Well, I’m not generous enough to give you an explanation. How about you find out for yourself and figure it out within a month. You’ve been pretending to be a know-it-all, didn’t you?”
“Is this supposed to be some kind of a riddle?”
“There’s a reward too.”
Zahir looked at Cesare, narrowing his eyes.
