Chereads / SYLUS / Chapter 59 - chapter 58

Chapter 59 - chapter 58

As Rose went about her morning, the lingering heat from the dream seemed to follow her like an unwelcome shadow. She tried to focus on the mundane tasks—making coffee, tidying up—but the images of the dream kept invading her thoughts. Sylus's red eyes, the intensity of his gaze, the overwhelming presence of his touch. It felt as if it were more than just a dream, more than just a game.

She had been playing Love and Deep Space for research, but now it felt like she was treading dangerous waters. The line between the game and reality was blurring, and she couldn't help but feel both drawn and repelled by it.

After finishing her coffee, Rose sat back down at her desk and reopened her laptop. The game was still logged in. Her fingers hovered over the keyboard, but she hesitated. What was she doing? Why did it feel like the game was calling her, almost like it had a life of its own?

She clicked on the screen, the familiar interface of Love and Deep Space appearing before her. The game's colorful design now seemed almost too bright, almost too cheerful, compared to the dark undertone that seemed to linger beneath the surface. Rose sighed as she adjusted her posture, mentally preparing herself to dive back into the game.

Sylus's figure appeared on the screen almost instantly, his strong presence filling the space. His eyes—those piercing red eyes—stared back at her, and it was as though they were staring directly into her soul. The same unsettling but magnetic pull she had felt before tugged at her chest.

"Kitten," Sylus's voice rang out, deep and commanding as always, sending a shiver down her spine. "You've returned. It seems like we're fated to be together."

Rose's breath caught in her throat. The dream, the intense connection—it was all real, even if she couldn't fully understand it. She tried to shake the thought away, focusing on his words instead.

"You never answered my last question," he continued, his tone teasing, almost playful in a way that made her blood rush to her face. "Why did you really come back?"

Rose clenched her hands on the desk, forcing herself to focus. She had to approach this from a different angle. The game was just that—a game. But something inside of her made her question if it was really that simple.

"I—" She cut herself off, unsure of how to answer. The truth felt too complicated to put into words.

Sylus's eyes softened just slightly, a strange hint of understanding behind them. He didn't press further but instead changed the subject, his commanding demeanor slipping back into place.

"There are new challenges awaiting us, Kitten," he said. "And the journey won't be an easy one. But you're ready. I can feel it."

Rose didn't respond immediately. She didn't know how to. She had a deep, unsettling feeling that her connection with Sylus—whatever it was—was only going to grow stronger the more she played. The question was: did she want to allow it? Or was she playing with fire, risking more than she was willing to admit?

She hesitated before finally replying, her voice almost a whisper. "I'm ready."

A smile—almost imperceptible but definitely there—played at the corners of Sylus's lips. It was a look that Rose had never seen before, and it made her heart beat faster than she would have liked.

"Then, let's begin," he said, and with that, the screen flashed as the next stage of the game began.

As Rose navigated through the challenges with Sylus by her side, the electric tension between them only grew. She couldn't escape it. Every word he spoke, every glance he gave her, felt like it was meant just for her. The intimacy that had been in her dream seemed to have transferred into the game, too. Every action she took with him, every time their characters interacted, felt charged with an unspoken emotion. And as much as she tried to resist, she could feel herself falling further into the game, further into the strange pull of Sylus's presence.

And the more she played, the more she realized that the bond between them wasn't just a figment of her imagination. It was real. And it was becoming impossible to ignore.

The dream. The connection. The desire. It was all a part of something much bigger than a simple virtual reality game.

Rose had no idea what she was getting herself into, but there was no turning back now.
