This World in which we live in, is not all as it seems. The total number of people who are happy in this world are a lot. Yes, you heard me right, but wait let me finish.
The number— I can't count. However, the total number of people who are genuinely feeling that happiness is about 0.5% even less.
The happiness in this world only comes when one most desired thing is filled. And in this case, there are so many desires out there that are yet to be fulfilled. So if one has three desires and only a single one is fulfilled, then such a person can't truly be happy, or can they?
Sigh'
One of the many desires that many people wish to have, is a good partner. Love is usually not necessary for this to happen. All they need is someone who will take good care of them and see them as a person to be respected and cared for, and then Love comes after. But this is all just a fantasy, isn't it?
Sigh'
Now let's begin this story!
Standing at the top side of a bridge, a young man still in his twenties, you could say he was about twenty-one to twenty-two years of age.
With jet-black hair and brown eyes. He wore a blue leather jacket, with a pair of jeans and a white canvas on his foot, to fit the match.
His name, Ken. He stood on top the iron rod of the bridge as his leather jacket danced in the wind. He was filled with thoughts, things that a normal youth at his age wouldn't have.
He was only a second-year student at a university called Entity College, in the city of Westview.
It was his last week in his three-month holiday as he was about to enter his third year. However, earlier this week something happened to him.
The girl which he had been dating for about four months had broken up with him. Her name, Amanda.
She said it wasn't his fault that it was hers, that he was the good guy and she was the bad one. But we all know that is what they all say. It was a crap talk.
The words she said hit him very hard because this was the only girl he had a crush on since his first year. He had always tried to get her to be his girlfriend several times in the past, but failed.
And at one faithful evening, during the second semester of their second year, Ken went on a stroll with her. Walking around their campus as they enjoy the beautiful scenery of the sunset.
The gist they had was going very well, it was smooth, and everything word that came out of her was genuine and sweet. And that was when it hit him, Ken knew this was his chance, this was his moment to finally confess his feelings to her.
So, at the time they had almost finished their stroll to go to their various hostels, due to the curfew time being almost reached, Ken summoned up the courage to ask her out. And to his surprise, she said yes.
However, before she replied to him, it took about five minutes. He wanted an answer quickly as his heart was beating so fast that it might had forced it's way out.
I mean, it was normal, as it happens very often with people who have genuine feelings for another.
After she had accepted to be his girlfriend, Ken was so happy and excited that he even hugged her on the spot. But the look on her face, was not so much happiness, but rather a smile to show that she was happy for him.
After a few months, they dated and during this time, Ken was having the best moments of his life, I mean who could blame him, to him it was like he had achieved his greater goal and now living the dream.
But reality was cruel. It was as if the higher-beings were just laughing at him.
A Few weeks after Ken and Amanda started dating, they had their semester examination, and after that, they vacated.
Ken would call her everyday to check up on her and she will always say the same thing.
I am so tired.
So tired of what? Ken would always ask her, but she would always say it was nothing he needed to worry about.
These gave him other thoughts, thoughts that he wouldn't normally consider. However, he will just brush it off with 'Maybe she has a lot to do today.'
As the weeks passed by, Ken and Amanda began to talk less and less.
At first, this was not much of a deal, but when she stopped replying to his text, he began to worry, and sometimes, if she ever managed to reply, all she would say was "Sorry, been busy, so I wasn't with my phone throughout the day."
This was an obvious lie and Ken knew it. I mean, who wouldn't be with their cell phone these days? That was when he knew that she was ignoring his texts.
This made him very angry. At first, he wasn't angry at her, but the fact that she was always too busy to be with her phone. But he wasn't dumb, he later picked up that he had been completely ignored.
The holiday was long, three months to be precise. And there was a saying in their college.
Whenever a young couple starts dating before the end of the second semester, they would never resume together as a couple the following session.
People call it the unavoidable curse because it had always happened, and now it was Ken's turn.
After all the time and money he has spent on Amanda during their days in school. She then decided to break up with him. And it just had to be before the beginning of their next session.
The Unavoidable Cure has caught up to him, which in truth he has tried to avoid. But a mere human can't beat what has been installed.

While he stood at the hand of the bridge, the memories of his time with Amanda flooded his head. His gaze faced the river below him, it was clean as they come.
The blue color of the sky reflected beautifully as the sun created a rainbow-like display on it's surface. Ken knew this was going to be his last day as he turned back to look at the beautiful view of the city.
The skyscrapers and other buildings gave him an insight of what life had to offer. If it was fair.
The vehicles that passed the bridge were all moving at high speed which made it impossible for anyone to notice that there was a young man who was about to take his own life.
"Tch!… I wasn't even able to take my virginity. If I am ever reborn, that will be one of my first priorities." Ken said with a sad expression.
"I guess this is gonna be the end… huh?"
He then placed one leg out of the rod which he was standing on—to the air. However, before he could make the next step, a cyan screen popped in front of him, which made him shudder, taking a step back before landing his butt on the bridge's ground.
"Oww!" He exclaimed in pain as he looked up and saw what the cyan screen displayed.
