Nestled gracefully on the lush mountainside, a splendid modern hotel graced the edge of the mountain, offering a captivating view of the glistening azure sea below. The setting sun bathed its windows in a warm, golden glow.
It was the night of the grand ball, and distinguished guests from around the globe had gathered in the conference room, engaging in lively conversations. Well-dressed men and women exchanged ideas with one another, sharing friendly laughter. Their attires exuded luxury and riches, and their jewelry and watches sparkled beneath the designer lighting of the hotel. These were the world's elite, all gathering to make new connections, discuss global affairs.
Amidst the gathering, Mael sat at the food area, enjoying her meal to the fullest. As other business men and women and nobility passed by, they couldn't help but be entranced by her beauty. At just 11 years old, she possessed lovely dark, brown skin, long blonde hair, and a pair of striking golden-red eyes.
Despite her demeanor, some attempted to engage her in conversation, but she paid them no heed, focusing solely on her meal, chewing contentedly without a care.
"CEO Boteng's daughter truly lives up to the rumors of her aloofness," one guest remarked with a sigh as he moved away from Mael, who remained unperturbed by his attempts at conversation.
Indeed, her father, Boteng, is the CEO of the Relay Industries, a colossal tech conglomerate with a global reach. The company manufactured a wide array of robots that enhanced daily life for people worldwide. Moreover, their innovative creations had played a mahor role in combating climate change, fostering the growth of peculiar yet invaluable plants that slowed global warming and improved the quality of the air and water that people relied on.
The party extended well into the night, and gradually, the guests began to take their leave. Just as Mael was on the verge of drifting off to sleep, four men in sharp black suits approached her and bowed.
"Miss, it's time for your departure," one of the men in black informed Mael, who simply nodded in acknowledgment. She followed them to the waiting helicopter, which hovered above the hotel, joined by a fleet of other helicopters that were swiftly taking off.
As Mael settled into her seat, a pang of disappointment gripped her. "Mom and Dad aren't flying with me again," she thought quietly, her mood gloomy as her bodyguards assisted her into the aircraft.
During the helicopter journey through the night sky, Mael found herself growing bored. To alleviate her restlessness, she decided to look out of the window and savor the gentle breeze brushing against her face through a small hole intentionally crafted in the window, just wide enough to accommodate a finger.
However, what met her gaze was anything but ordinary, causing her pupils to contract in astonishment. As she observed, the helicopter began to experience a sudden loss of power, trembling ominously, but her attention remained fixed on the spectacle unfolding before her.
Before her eyes, a colossal meteorite descended from the skies, accompanied by a multitude of others. The sky was transformed into a breathtaking cascade of colors as these beautiful falling rocks that resembled angels in Mael's eyes, plummeted towards Earth. Their fall, while visually stunning, resulted in earth-shaking explosions upon impact.
"Henry, we need to pick up speed!" Jake urgently shouted as he guided Mael away from the window and held her securely in the center of the helicopter.
Amidst the deafening roar of the explosion, an inferno of destruction consumed everything in its relentless path. Yet, for Mael, there was no peace to be found; she realized that her parents remained behind in the chaos.
Despite Henry's valiant efforts to regain control of the helicopter, it spiraled out of its designated flight path, nearly succumbing to the encroaching explosion. The shockwave propelled the aircraft far away from the sky, but it continued to spin uncontrollably through the tumultuous air.
Mael's screams reverberated within the helicopter, her fear uncontainable.
Recognizing that he could no longer manipulate the helicopter's erratic movements, Henry made a critical decision—to attempt an emergency landing, prioritizing Mael's safety.
The helicopter collided headlong with a towering tree, its base absorbing much of the impact. However, the immediate aftermath was an engulfing blaze that enveloped the crash site.
Mael's struggle to open her eyes was marked by searing pain coursing through her body, resulting in crimson tears that blurred her vision, a proof to the brutality of the crash.
However, despite the agonizing pain that filled her body, Mael managed to used her remaining strength to remove herself from Jake's grip.
As she blinked away the blood clouding her vision, she surveyed her surroundings. The flames surrounding the downed helicopter raged, threatening to engulf the wreckage entirely.
"Jake! Henry!" She cried out, her voice laced with urgency, as she vigorously shook Jake, who was drenched in blood, his eyes devoid of vitality.
Her heart tightened with the realization that he had absorbed the brunt of the impact for her. Tears welled up in her eyes as she observed the burnt marks on his back.
Suddenly, a glimmer of hope emerged as Jake coughed up blood, indicating that he was still alive. Without hesitation, Mael unfastened his seatbelt, causing the helicopter to shift slightly.
"Madam, are you alright?" Henry inquired with genuine concern from the front.
"I'm fine," Mael replied, her voice quivering, "but Jake..." Her words trailed off, overcome by emotion.
"Don't worry, he'll recover. Let's activate the protective suits and initiate the ejection from the aircraft!" Henry suggested calmly.
Mael nodded. She activated Jake's suit, and a substantial protective cube formed around him. Due to the spacious interior of the helicopter, the cube didn't consume much space. Using every ounce of her strength, she pushed Jake out of the helicopter.
Quickly, she activated her own suit and leaped out just before the helicopter emitted a deafening rattle and exploded, pushing her protective cube a considerable distance away from the helicopter explosion.
The protective cube, now damaged, immediately disappeared leaving Mael out in the open. Meteors still falling from the sky could be seen. Mael struggled to get up and she walked through the smoke and yelled, "Henry! JAKE!!"
"MISS!" Henry yelled and Mael noticed him carrying Jake on his shoulder. With a relieved smile she walked up to them and held Henry's hand, her body trembling.
She looked up to the sky to see a massive meteor heading straight towards them, causing her eyes to shrink in fear.
"There's no way to escape something that massive," Henry shook his head and released Jake who finally gained consciousness. Henry then held Mael gently in his arms.
"Miss there's no need to be afraid just hold us tightly as all this would be over," Henry and Jake held Mael tightly in a group hug.
'How could I be scared of something so beautiful?' Mael thought to herself as she looked at the spiral of colours surrounding the meteor and couldn't help but be mesmerized by the beautiful display.
The sky was a filled with a beautiful hyme as the meteors destroyed the earth with numerous explosion filled with vibrant colours, as though it wanted to entertain the invisible onlookers in space.
That day over half the human population was wiped out in the explosion. And this wasn't only affecting earth but rather all the planets in the solar system and galaxies.
All those who faced their deaths looking up at the sky would hear the beautiful hyme's sound and through the array of colours the meteor had, they almost resembled wings.
_____
*Crack*
A pupa in a beautiful landscape filled with vibrant coloured flowers cracked slowly. After some time two petit brown hands emerged from it, and our emerged Mael. But she she looked different than before.
She had two vibrant coloured wings that resembled the falling meteors.
"Ahhhh," Mael screamed as she plummeted head first into the ground unto the smooth grass.
"Ouch, ouch!" She rubbed her slightly injured head, which without her noticing healed immediately and her head become as though the injury was never there.
Mael struggled to get up but after several tries she managed to stand on her two feet. "Yess!" She cheered. However her victory was short lived and her wings threw her off balance causing her to fall on the ground.
She puffed her cheeks in annoyance and pouted with her arms crossed.
*Crack* *crack* she heard the sound of cracking and looked up too see two pupas before her cracking and seeing the faces emerging from it she couldn't help but smile.
