"Son calm down. I only did what was best for you. Family comes first and our family forbids....".
"Spare me your bullshit". Jung-Sik interrupted his father and he continued. "I would still marry Ji-Won but from today, I am no longer your son!". Jung-Sik got into his car and drove off.
**********************************************
"I had married Ji-Won already but, I decided to make things right so I came to America to meet you and your mum but when I came there, she drove me away"
******************Flashback*****************************
"What are you doing here". Carolyn asked in shock.
Jung-Sik knelt down and said "Carolyn I know that I have offended you and my daughter. I was so preoccupied that I didn't realize what you were going through....".
Carolyn glanced at Jung-Sik's middle finger and asked coldly. "Are you married?".
Jung-Sik nodded in affirmative. He watched tears stream down Carolyn's eyes.
"You have never loved me Jung-Sik instead you used me. Your daughter hates you and wants nothing with you. She is doing well for the first time in a long while so if you truly love her, then stay away from her". Carolyn yelled and walked away.
************************************************
"I wanted to keep pressing but when I thought about what Carolyn said, I gave up. Kiera I'm so glad that you are here and that I am able to explain all these things to you. I don't have long....".
"No don't say that you will live. I'm here and I'm ready to forgive you". Jung-Ha Kiera said in tears. She held her father's hand and looked at his teary eyes.
"Let's spend the day together. What do you like to do". She asked him and forced a smile. She didn't want to hear the stories anymore but she wished her mum had given her the full gist beforehand rather than hiding the whole thing for twenty years.
Jung-Sik couldn't stop tearing. It was tears of joy. He expected a lot of things when he requested to see his daughter but one of the things he never expected was for her to accept him. "It's probably because I'm ill. Well then, I'll fight to live". He thought to himself.
"Jung-Ha, do you know any thing about Korean language. I mean I heard when Ji-Won asked you a question and you were silent". Jung-Sik said and laughed.
Kiera chuckled. "I've always loved south Koreans but I stopped at a point. The only thing I know how to say is 'hello' which is 'Annyeong Hasseyo' ". She said with a broad smile.
"Okay fine let's spend the day together. I'll teach you the basics and then give you books to back it up". Jung-Sik replied with joy but seconds after his reply, he started coughing seriously.
"Dad, dad doctor!! doctor!!!!". Kiera shouted.
The doctors came in and said "please stay outside we'll get back you".
Just then, Mr.Kim came in and he saw Kiera refusing to leave the room. "Madam let's go. This happens sometimes he'll be fine". Mr Kim assured her.
On hearing this, Kiera decided to leave. Outside the room, she saw Kyung and ran to hug her, sobbing bitterly.
"Kyung, Kyung please tell me my father would be okay. I forgave him Kyung! I've forgiven him Kyung! He was going to teach me Korean". Kiera kept weeping on Kyung's shoulders. Tears streamed down from Kyung's face as she patted her back.
Few hours later, the doctors came out of the room. Kiera ran to them "how is he?".
"He's fine. Looks like he has been stressed. You are Jung-Ha right?". The doctor asked Kiera and she nodded in affirmative.
"Great. Your name is so popular because that's like the only name that comes out of his mouth ever since he got into the accident. He must have said a lot to you but please, I think that kind of heartfelt conversation shouldn't repeat itself. As you know the accident affected his critical organs. It's by God's grace he is still alive and looking at things right now, I think your presence has helped improve his condition. So rest assured he should live. Please do everything you can to make him happy". The doctor told Kiera and left.
Kiera ran into the room.
"Kiera". Jung-Sik said in a faint tune. Kiera walked to his bed, held his hands and cried.
"Jung-Ha, ul-ji-ma [don't cry]". Jung-Sik told her and wiped off her tears.
Kiera stayed by her father's side till 10pm at night. They had done a lot. He taught her how to play the chess game, he taught her some slangs in South Korean and Mr Kim with Kyung brought different Korean dishes and they both tried it together.
Jung-Sik fell asleep by 10pm after saying this to Kiera "I know how bad you've felt, growing without a father but I promise you these little things we did today, I haven't done any of it with your step sister and step mom". Jung-Sik said with sleepy eyes.
"What about Jung-Woo your son?". She asked.
"He isn't my son. He's the son of the guy Ji-Won left me to be with years ago". Jung-Sik said and slept off.
Kiera smiled and tucked him to bed.
Knock!Knock! It was Kyung. "I see you are glowing". Kyung said in a whisper.
Kiera smiled and took the sleeping items, Kyung had brought for her.
"That reminds me, your mum wants to speak with you". Kyung said.
"I don't want to speak to her now". Kiera said coldly.
Kyung sensed something was wrong but she decided not to ask any more questions. "I'll head back to the hotel". Kyung said and moved away.
The next day, information had reached Jung-Su that Kiera was in town. "How I'm I just hearing about this!". Jung-Su asked Ji-Won.
" I wanted to give them little time...". Ji-Won responded but Jung-Hyun interrupted her.
"No! She's came to destroy everything!". Jung-Hyun yelled. Ji-Won looked at Jung-Hyun in anger.
She had suspected that he was probably the one that hit her husband.
"That's all I have to say. Also if you truly love your son, you'll leave his daughter alone. She is the only one that will make him live. I hope we make the right decision this time".
Ji-Won said with a bitter smile and turned to leave but then Jung-Hyun said "aren't you scared that she would own everything that your husband has. Ji-Won I know you are accomplished on your own but my brother has a lot more. If things are handed over to Kiera, she will definitely be hard on you".
Ji-Won didn't turn back to looks at him, rather she kept moving.
"Abeoji, what do we do. He hasn't talked to us in ten years if not more and now Kiera is here. Do you remember why I can't see with my left eye anymore, it was all her fault, she is here to take revenge Abeoji". Jung-Hyun said with desperation.
Jung-Su had regretted everything he did but he still harboured bitterness against Carolyn and her daughter. He blamed them for not being able to talk to his son.
Hearing that Kiera was back was like a slap to his face. "Let's go see her". He said to Hyun.
"Okay Abeoji. That reminds me, when i went to Australia, I was given this herb plant. They said it'll heals all pains and diseases. I'll take a piece for him". Jung-Hyun said in excitement.
"Drop that nonsense. Let's go. When will your mother and sister be back?". Jung-Su asked.
"I don't know. Starting a fashion line in Paris isn't very easy you know. They are still busy".Hyun replied.
At the hospital, Kiera was feeding her father when Ji-Won and Jung-Cha barged inside. "Don't you know how to knock?". Kiera said coldly.
Ji-Won ignored her and walked to her husband "Yeobo, jal jinesseyo? [Honey, how are you?]". Ji-Won said.
"I should really learn this language". Kiera thought to herself.
"Where is your son?". She asked Ji-Won.
Ji-Won ignored her. Kiera became fed up. "Leave this place both of you". Kiera ordered the both of them.
"No. I am his wife and that's his daughter we can't leave him here. I....".
"Leave Ji-Won and take Jung-Cha with you". Jung-Sik said in a harsh tone.
Although, Ji-Won wasn't shocked, she was upset for her daughter Jung-Cha so she spoke up "you can send me away but not your daughter".
"Do as you are told". Kiera said coldly. Jung-Cha walked out angrily and Ji-Won followed suit. Just then the door rolled up again. It was Jung-Su and Jung-Hyun.
"What are you both doing here". Jung-Sik said in anger and sat up.
"Hyeong[elder brother], we are here to see you. Eomeo[Oh my God] are you Jung-Ha". Hyun said in surprise.
Kiera was so beautiful and her Korean features had become pronounced. She had clear skin, big expensive eyes with double eyelids and a long glossy black hair. They both couldn't help but stare at her for a while.
Kiera guessed that Jung-Su was her grandfather given the fact that he looked older and then looking at Hyun's eye, she knew he was her father's brother and she was actually impressed that she did that to him.
"You are Jung-Su and you Hyun. Am I right?". Kiera asked coldly.
Jung-Su and Hyun had chills all over their body. Not only was she beauty but she was authoritative. None of Ji-Won's children stood a chance against her.
"My long lost granddaughter!" Jung-Su pretentiously said and moved closer to her for a hug but Kiera pushed him away.
"I know everything and please never call me your granddaughter. Now leave this place!" Kiera ordered.
Jung-Su stepped back in disbelief. No one has ever disrespected him like she did. He tapped Hyun and they both left.
"Dad I'm so..". Kiera tried apologizing.
"You did the right thing". Jung-Sik interrupted.
"Have you talked to your mum". He asked.
"No I'll talk to her later". Jung-Ha replied and kept feeding him trying to avoid the conversation. Jung-Sik noticed and decided not to pry any further.
Knock!Knock! This time, Kiera became annoyed. She ran to the door and rolled it open preparing to yell at whoever it was but to her greatest surprise it was Lee-Soo.
"You looked like you were about to devour me. What happened?". Lee-Soo said and smiled then he walked past her.
"Sir,how are you feeling now". He asked Jung-Sik.
"I am okay. Have you guys met each other before?". Jung-Sik asked.
"Yeah, we met on the plane. He had done nothing but insult me since we met". Kiera said and pouted making Lee-Soo smile foolishly but he realized himself and denied her allegations towards him.
"I have been nothing but nice to her". He said and smiled trickishely.
"Dad did you see that smile, he's lying". Kiera said and pouted again making them all laugh.
Outside the hospital, Jung-Hyun kept ranting. Jung-Su became tired and yelled " You should have said all these to him or her but you didn't so, stop disturbing my peace!".
Jung-Hyun seeing that his father wasn't in a good mood kept quiet. " It's only a matter of time Abeoji" He said silently and smiled wickedly.
Meanwhile, in Jung-Sik's hospital room. Kiera and Lee-Soo were keeping him company. He felt the joy he hasn't felt in a long time but he also felt fear.
His first fear was that his family could hurt Kiera and the second was that he felt he was close to his death. He thought of how Kiera would feel and that hurt him so much.
"Why don't you both take a stroll outside". Jung-Sik said. He started having trouble breathing but didn't want Kiera to see him in such state after noticing her reaction the last time.
Thankfully, Kiera agreed as she had stayed indoors for a whole day and the room had suddenly become stuffy and uncomfortable. Just then, Lee-Soo sighted a leaf beside the bed. He picked it up and walked away with Kiera.
"What's that?". Kiera asked as she had noticed him pick it up.
"I've seen this plant somewhere". Lee-Soo said.
Cough*Cough*. Kiera started coughing seriously. Lee-Soo threw the leave away and then it hit him.
Two years ago, someone had tried to kill Jung-Sik and this plant was sent to him as a gift.
After 30 minutes of entering Jung-Sik's office with Jung-Sik, Jung-Sik began coughing badly and he was rushed to the hospital.
