The soldier told the commander of the 20,000 strong army about how the other nine men very quickly died.
The 10 men were running down the path at a fast speed. They were on high alert in case of enemy attacks.
But not high enough. A large green figure jumped out of the woods and swung his double edged axe to the left of his body. It made quick work of one of the men as his torso was cleanly cut through.
The other nine started to look for an exit as now a 4 metre tall orc was blocking their path. They looked left, right and back. But unfortunately there was an elf squadron made up of 5 elves and another two 4 metre orcs.
The leader of the unit began to shout instructions "enter a circle formation and look for a way out!"
The highly trained troops reacted to the orders and entered into a circle. The elves released 5 arrows into the air and the orcs swung where the soldiers dodged into. Two men had their heads penetrated by arrow whilst another had his head cleaved off.
The orcs swinging made them out of position and the elves didn't have the time to reload.
There was a break in the formation.
The second-in-commmand casted [Quick step] wich propelled himself forward 3 metres. He casted it again and propelled himself forward another 3 metres. He carried on running and broke through the encirclement.
He completely drained his mana. He became sick with dizziness but kept on running. The soldier looked back one last time and saw his comrades slaughtered on the ground and the leader's head separated from the body.
"Orcs and elves, working together," the commander was infuriated by this news.
"Send a message back to the king and request reinforcements," he said so confidently but they already recruited all the trained soldiers. The incoming reinforcements will be civilians.
Two weeks later.
"Where are the reinforcements, they should be here by now."
"W-we don't know sir," spoke the mage beside the man.
In fact the commander already knew what happened. The messenger got killed by the elves.
They were surrounded and the commander was enraged at himself. The commander had short blue hair and looked to be about in his mid 40's. A long sword lay by his side. He was the strongest in the Reinfell Kingdom at B-rank.
The sword was decorated by purified dungeon cores and mana stones. It was made of pure silver and and was lined with gold engravings.
Many different thoughts ran through the commanders side.
He couldn't send small units as they would be eliminated by the enemies.
They could pray and wait hoping there supplies hold out long enough for anything to change on the opponents side.
They could recklessly retreat and hope they have minimal losses.
They could charge to the elven capital and hope quantity could overwhelm the allied forces of the elves and orcs.
Or they could set the archers arrows on fire and burn the forest to the ground.
The commander made his decision.
"Gather the troops in the village center."
The 20,000 troops made the way to the village center and lined up in rows. The commander stood before them. He reinforced his voice with mana to make sure he was heard.
"My soldiers, we are currently stuck in a encirclement by the allied forces of the elves and orcs," he started on an agitated tone.
"If we go forward we die, if we go back we die." The soldiers became more nervous now knowing they were probably going to die.
"But why play by their rules. Archers lay your arrows with fire and burn this forest... To The Ground!!!" The soldiers became more excited.
"Rat out those hiding scumbags!"
The soldiers began to chant for the next five minutes "Death to Avaloria, Death to the elven queen!"
The elves and orcs also heard this chant but thought it was ridiculous. They are encircled, what could they do but die.
The elves thought the foolish barbarians were just going to charge at them.
Bright also heard this chant and figures out war was happening. He was rather happy as more humans would pass by and possibly come in.
The archers at the camp began to bring their arrows to the fire pit and lit then alight.
The C-rank archer who led the other 2,000 archers raised his arm and put his hand into a scrunched up ball.
The 2,000 men drawed their bows back. Some excited. Some nervous.
2,000 arrows burning with eagerness.
The scrunched up ball in the captain's hand came undone. Showing a flat palm. And one voice echoed throughout the forest.
"FIREEE," screamed the captain.
2,000 arrows on fire rose above the trees. Gravity pulled them downwards. Some stuck to the ground, some to bushes and some to the desired targets the trees.
The God's seemed to have favoured the humans in that moment. The wind picked up spreading the damage.
The elves seeing this began to retreat to Avalve. The fire quickly spread, the grass burnt and turned to crisp, the trees lost their leaves and were scorched black.
The air lit up in smoke. The Queen of Avaloria saw the smoke. As the Queen that retook the capital and pushed the humans back 80 years ago, she wasn't just a pretty face.
She ran out to the front gate of Avalve and ordered the gate to be opened.
"Open the gate," the Queen shouted among the heavy winds. Her hair was blowing across her face but she didn't care.
The Queen was a B+ ranked force.
The 20,000 men waited for the fire ro spread to the elven capital. They didn't want to be caught in the fire themselves. The woodland lost its coat and many villages were burnt to the ground. Though none of the villages still had people as they were ordered to retreat to the capital when the war began.
The fire began to dissipate and the wind slowed at the impenetrable wooden walls of Avalve.
The 20,000 strong army began to stomp through freeland. Their morale reached its peak. Avalve was now in sight of the army but weirdly enough the front gate was open.
"It's open?" Questioned a footman.
"Don't matter," stated another.
"If anything they're surrendering," spoke another.
There was no white flag indicating surrender but just an open gate. As the army got closer, they could see a beautiful woman who hand two hands on the ground.
"Isn't that the Queen?"
"That it is."
The experienced soldiers became agitated but the inexperienced thought they won.
The commander who was at the front was only 500 meters away saw rather clearly the Queen's hands glowing with green.
"RETREAAAT!!" Screamed the commander. He didn't know what was happening but knew it wasn't good.
He already knew of the Queen's Strength and of her being a higher rank than him.
But before the soldiers could even turn around the Queen spoke.
"Trying to run?"
"Funny."
She casted [Nature's will].
Then the elven Queeen casted [Nature's golem] and another of [Nature's golem].
Thousands of vines rose from the burnt ground. The ground restored to a thirsty green and the vines cut through the humans. Two giants standing at an impressive 10 metres carved out of tree logs and branches adorned with grass and pretty flowers. They each held a massive hammer as big as their own bodies.
The orcs who received a message earlier from the Queen blocked the humans escape.
20,000 humans vs 50 orcs, 2 of nature's golems and a B+ ranked Queen.
The Queen's skill [Nature's will] eventually ended but it brought heavy casualties to the humans. 1,500 were killed by the vines. The corpses had gaping holes left in their stomachs.
Over 200 elves lined Avalve's City walls. They each held an arrow imbued with mana to increase the velocity of the arrow. Another 100 elves exited the cities gate and stood behind their Queen.
They were now in a stalemate.
The Queen called "Surrender and leave with your lives."
None of the 20,000 men spoke and waited for the B-rank commanders orders.
"We will never surrender to you pigs," shouted the commander.
The commander raised his sword to the sky and casted [Divine Judgment].
The sky's began to brew a storm. Clouds began to intertwine with each other and conneted into a cloud that covered Avaloria kingdom.
