Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Prologue

A soft light came from the mobile screen that was lit from the alarm ringing on it. It was set for 6:30 AM in the morning.

The person lying on the side of the bed groaned and woke with a tired expression.

He switched the mobile off and sat on the bed for a few seconds, collecting himself.

He walked off the bed and opened the curtains to allow for the sunlight to come into the room.

A small, cluttered desk stood by the window, littered with empty coffee mugs, crumpled papers, and a laptop.

Sticky notes in faded ink were scattered across the desk's surface, half reminders, half forgotten ideas.

There were some clothes scattered around the room. It was messy but not overly so. Just a normal room for a person in their 20s who is working paycheck to paycheck.

The air carried a faint mix of old coffee and the lingering scent of laundry detergent from a basket of clean clothes sitting untouched on the floor.

Across the room, a wardrobe stood half-open, revealing an uninspired selection of hoodies, jeans, and plain shirts.

A single pair of shoes lay haphazardly near the door, one upright and the other on its side.

Yawning, Alex dragged himself to the window, drawing the curtains aside. Sunlight streamed in, illuminating the faded One Piece poster on the wall.

He smiled faintly, remembering how he'd binged episodes until nearly 2 AM.

He was finally nearing Wano, and the thrill of watching the story unfold had made it impossible to stop.

"Totally worth the bags under my eyes," Alex muttered as he got dressed in his usual uniform of jeans and a hoodie.

The excitement of One Piece felt worlds apart from the monotony of his real life.

Alex worked a typical nine-to-five job at a mid-sized office downtown, the kind of place that ran on spreadsheets, email threads, and lukewarm coffee.

Officially, their title was "Junior Data Analyst," but in reality, most days were spent wading through repetitive tasks—cleaning up endless rows of numbers, responding to vague requests from higher-ups, and attending virtual meetings that could have been emails.

Alex is a dreamer trapped in a realist's world. He works a desk job that pays bills and avoids risks.

His only true escape is the stories he loves, particularly One Piece. Sometimes he wonders: If I lived in that world, how different would his life be?

Of course, he also knew that if he was a normal person in that world, then that life might be worse than his life on earth.

One piece world was quite dangerous for the normal person. So only if he was someone special could he live in that world and enjoy himself.

After getting ready for the day, he went out of his home and locked the door.

He went to the bus station to get into the bus that would take him to his office building.

------POV Switch------

As I waited for the bus, music playing softly in my ears, a commotion behind me pulled my attention.

I turned, frowning, to see a truck barreling toward the sidewalk. For a split second, my brain stalled.

Is this it?

Time seemed to slow. The absurd thought popped into my head: If I die here, maybe I'll get reincarnated.

Hopefully not as some insect. Or worse, an NPC.

But before I could move, the truck swerved. Its tires screeched against the asphalt as it missed me by inches and slammed into the wall behind the bus stop.

I stood frozen, heart pounding, as people rushed to help the driver.

Well, that was embarrassing, I thought, shaking off the daze.

 Reincarnation can wait, I guess.

The office hummed with the usual monotony—keyboards clicking, phones ringing, and the faint hum of the coffee machine.

I stared blankly at my spreadsheet, trying to will the numbers to make sense.

And then it appeared.

A notification blinked in the corner of my screen:

Would you like to live in the world of One Piece?

I blinked at it, confused. It looked like one of those phishing scams IT warned us about.

I moved to close it, but the window wouldn't go away. I frowned, glancing around. Nobody else seemed to notice anything unusual.

Curiosity tugged at me. I should've called IT, but instead, I clicked "Yes."

More questions appeared. Some were straightforward, like: What do you admire most about the One Piece world? The options ranged from The Power System to The Adventure. Others were... odd: What's your dream Devil Fruit power? Or which character's crew would you join?

I laughed quietly to myself and kept answering. Maybe it was a prank, but it was a lot more interesting than spreadsheets.

The survey felt more like an odd distraction than anything else, but something about it kept me clicking through.

Each new question was just strange enough to be interesting.

I smiled when one question appeared: If you could choose the type of life you would like to live, what would it be?

My fingers hovered over the options. I had no idea what kind of numbers people typically went for in this world, but I was feeling a bit bold.

I typed in, "Free from the restrictions of the world and free to do anything I wanted."

Just as I was about to submit, the screen flickered.

What the hell?

For a moment, the room seemed to distort around me.

The air felt thicker, and the hum of the office grew distant, like I was hearing it from far away. I shook my head, rubbing my eyes.

When I opened them again, the survey window was still there.

But now the words on the screen were different:

Congratulations! You are about to embark on a new adventure. Prepare yourself for the world of One Piece.

Before I could even process what was happening, my vision blurred. I blinked hard, trying to focus, but it was no use.

The world around me warped, and the next thing I knew…
