Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Boy with White Eyes

The Broken Sky continent is a continent ruled by a powerful cultivation system. At the core of this world lies the flow of spiritual energy through the body's meridians. Cultivators seek to open and purify their meridians, allowing spiritual energy, known as "qi" or "chi," to flow through them. Cultivation consists of eight stages, each one bringing the cultivator closer to mastery over their body, mind, and spirit.

In a small town on the edge of this vast continent lies Blackthorn City, where three great families reign: the "Liang", "Lian", and Chen" families. These families control much of the city's power, But far from the wealth and power of these families, on a secluded mountain, there stands a boy, alone, abandoned by the world.

This boy appears no older than 13, with jet-black hair that falls in soft waves around his pale face. His features are striking, yet always void of emotion, as though his soul had been hollowed out long ago. What sets him apart most of all are his eyes—pure white, empty, and sightless.

His name is Liang Zhen

Liang Chen was born blind, his meridians were damaged beyond repair, making it impossible for him to cultivate. His existence was a joke in Blackthorn City. The townspeople called him "trash," and even his family saw him as nothing but a burden. His mother died shortly after giving birth to him, and his father, unable to cope with the loss, left the city in search of something—anything—and never returned.

The only reason Liang Zhen clung to life was a faint, flickering hope. Two girls held him to this world: **Lian Hua**, his fiancée, and **Chen Yue**, his girlfriend. One had been promised to him by his family, the other had once shown him affection. Or so he believed.

But today, the last of his hope was shattered.

He overheard a conversation between Lian Hua and her father, **Lian Tian Yi**, that crushed what little remained of his resolution.

Lian Hua: "I want to break off my engagement with Liang Zhen."

Lian Tian Yi: "Why? You know I promised this engagement to the friend of Liang Tian Hua."

Lian Hua: "Do you really want to ruin my life just because of your promise? Don't you see what they say about me? I'm engaged to a worthless boy, and everyone is laughing at me."

Then, as he wandered further, he heard Chen Yue speaking to his sister and her friends. Her words twisted the knife deeper into his already broken heart. She admitted that her feelings for him were never out of love, but pity. She had thought him poor and hopeless, someone who couldn't be made fun of because he had no power. She had pitied him.

Liang Zhen stood frozen on the mountain, his white eyes fixed on the horizon, yet seeing nothing. His body was still, but his soul felt as though it were unraveling. The weight of the world pressed down on him—an endless, suffocating emptiness. He could not cultivate. He couldn't fight. He was nothing.

Once, he had clung to the faintest hope that he might find a way out of his misery. But now, that hope had turned cold, buried under the weight of betrayal and abandonment. Death seemed like the only release from the ridicule, the loneliness, the pain.

"Is there anyone who can light up this darkness?" he thought, his voice barely a whisper as it was carried away by the wind. His question hung in the air, unanswered, like a silent scream swallowed by the night.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the land, Liang Zhen's heart hardened. His resolve grew. He no longer cared about power, glory, or the future. He sought only the strength to end it all, to escape from a world that had rejected him at every turn.

And if death would not come to him, he would seek it himself.
