Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

"Is this your final choice?" He asked, sounding lifeless.

If someone had told him years ago that he would shamefully get divorced and embarrassingly leave his in-laws mansion, he wouldn't have believed.

"Why? Do you think I will cling to a useless man?" Diane scoffed, rolling her eyes away from him.

By this time, they were back at home and faced with the entire family — but he couldn't tell what Richard was doing there during this kind of matter.

"Diane, since I gave birth to you, I have never been this proud of you." Mrs. Stewart praised her daughter with a smile.

"This is what I expected some years ago, we shouldn't be fooling around with this young man." Logan smirked.

"But I supported the family back then. I tried my best to be a good son and a good husband, is this what I get? You literally know I have nowhere to go or anything! Where are you chasing me to? What should I do now?" If he was a woman, he would have cried his eyes out, but he maintained his composure while trying to urge them with his weak eyes.

"Aren't you tired of feeding on us? The money you helped us with in the past had already been used for your living expenses. It has finished and you need to vacate!" Mr. Stewart said vividly.

"I will still ask because I won't make any consideration or second thought, is this what you want Diane? You are not being forced or anything?" Inwardly, he hoped she would have a change of heart and embrace him from the cold he felt but she remained indifferent, crossing her arms around another man.

"Fuck off, Drew. I'm pregnant with Richy's child and once you leave, he will become my only true husband. I don't want you anymore." He read her lips, she was determined and certain.

"Why asking this question over and over, lackey?" Richard laughed as he approached him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You should just have some pride and walk off. You are nobody and can't do anything for them, I'm now the man now, your wife is now mine and everything else. Say bye bye and leave." Richard clicked his tongue, obviously mocking him and everyone laughed.

"Fine!" His voice changed, sounding bold and authoritative and they looked at him and laughed again.

"Finally showing yourself, huh?" Logan shrugged.

"I will sign the divorce papers and it's truly over with me and this family." He said seriously.

"Before signing that contract, take note that you will leave this mansion the same way you came. You came with nothing and you will leave with nothing." Mrs. Stewart reminded him in disgust while crossing his arms.

"Maybe we could just dash him what he has on, mum. The others will be given to Richard." Diane suggested and her mother nodded approvingly.

"But I came with a briefcase and some valuable things." He reminded them.

"Just shut up and sign those papers! The money you supported us with in the past have been used to compensate for all those. We are no longer owing you and vice versa!" Mr. Stewart revoked in anger.

"I think it's time for you to face real problems that I have been blocking. Mind you, I won't consider your tears." As he spoke, he signed off the papers and slammed it on the table.

"Take a look at a frog — growing some wings." Diane scoffed and everyone laughed.

"You are a nobody, Drew! Do your worst! I'll protect them and we are waiting for you, dumbass." Richard hissed.

With a last look at them, he dashed out of the mansion with just his phone.

"I feel like a burden has been lifted off my chest!" Diane gasped for air and everyone nodded in unison.

"I guess we can start talking about your wedding with Mr. Richard, huh?" Mrs. Stewart said, wiggling her brows.

Walking on the stony road, Drew gnashed and contemplated in annoyance. He brought this upon himself but it was over. He wouldn't be the same sand that they would keep stamping on.

"What a family!" He kicked something on the ground while groaning.

Now, it was time for him to fend for himself. They took everything away from him and he needed to get some clothes and other necessities.

Most importantly, he needed a place to stay for the night.

Fortunately, he spotted an Automated Teller Machine at a far distance and walked towards him. The shoe he was wearing had no sole, so he could feel the hotness from the ground - that was how wretched they left him.

"Withdrawing just $200 for a start won't harm my savings." He smiled to himself as he brought out his card.

"They really thought I wouldn't save after these heads with them." He scoffed again, feeling proud of his action as the machine read his card.

"Kindly input your amount," the automated machine said and he pressed the amount he wanted to withdraw, and almost immediately, an error message popped on the teller screen.

[Insufficient Fund]

"What?" He was in amiss, staring at the machine as his card came out again.

"No. No. Something is wrong." He scratched the card on his hair and tried it again. It read and he decided to do a lesser amount, knowing fully well that he has more than that but shortly, the error message popped up again.

[Insufficient Fund]

"What the f—!" He wanted to give it a second try when some arrogant noises erupted from his back.

"Get out of there if you have no money! We can't wait for you all day." The first one growled.

"You should just go to the bank if your card has some problems. Don't waste our time!" Another followed.

"Do we look like your slaves? Fuck off!"

He was in between confusion and shock because when he came the place was empty, when did all this line form?

"I— I'm sorry." He bowed shamefully and left the machine spot.

"This is crazy! I remember keeping a huge amount of money in my savings account. When did it become empty? I'm the only one that knows the pin!" He contemplated but when he stood for a while and calculated that he needed a lot and couldn't afford to sleep on the benches, he headed to the bank.

He arrived at STERLING BANK and it was almost closing time, he decided to rush his case before they closed. His case was emergency and urgent.

"Hello?" He met the first customer care lady, she gave him a long look and went back to looking at her system.

"Hello?" He called the attention of the second customer care lady, the bank was obviously empty and he was literally the last person. Why weren't they looking at him?

"Are you closing?" He had to ask out of confusion.

"Use the next desk, young man and stop disturbing us for petty cases." She didn't even look at his face as she yapped and focused back at her computer.

"This is crazy!" He stood from the chair and walked to the center of the bank.

"Is there no one here willing to attend to me??" He said with a very loud voice, so desperate and bold.

He was stranded and will be in deep shit if this mess wasn't fixed. He needed his money.

"Young man, how can we help you?" The young man, who was the manager, approached him. He looked neither pleased or displeased.

"My money." He paused.

"I opened a Sterling Recurring Deposit account and have been saving for almost two years now. If I'm not mistaken, I should have made over $2,000 to $3,000 in that account. But I tried to withdraw my money and they said insufficient funds." He explained his plight to the manager and he sighed.

"So, is it because of some $2 to $3 thousand bills that you want to ruin our bank affairs?" The manager asked curtly.

"What do you mean? That money can go a long way and believe me, it's more than your basic salary!" He didn't hide his anger and frustration.

He had been intimidated for too long and he wouldn't stoop too low to hide in his shelf.

"Follow me and call your account number, I have no time to waste for lousy customers." The manager walked to a desk and sat down - and Drew sat across from him.

He called out his bank account number but it took some time to process before the manager later looked at him.

"I said it from the beginning that you only come here to waste our time and cause havoc." The manager hissed.

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

"The money had already been withdrawn by you last week!" The manager tried to control his temper as he yelled.

"By whom? I haven't touched that account. I didn't do that transaction, never!" He retorted.

"Check my statement and see if you will know who took it out! I'm the only one who has access to this account." He suggested firmly.

The manager was already annoyed and tired, he regretted taking up Drew's case.

"Sir, your wife withdrew this money using your stamp last week. Do you still want to waste my time?" The manager barked at his face while his jaw dropped, reminiscing on the manager's last word.

"What! My wife?" His hands were on his head in agony. They really trapped him in the end but how did she do this??
