Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Peaceful Days

Leon ignored the crying Salovis, unaware that Dragon Sister had already broken through his defenses, and that his immobilization spell was the final straw that broke the camel's back.

He spent a whole afternoon learning Universal Language thoroughly and had a good fight, which was truly exhausting. Even the recently learned immobilization spell wasn't much of a concern to him now; all he wanted was a good sleep... In fact, this matter was a triviality for the once King of Studying, but now he no longer wanted to delve into it.

As usual, hungry Leon woke up with a rumbling stomach, and when he went outside, Dragon Sister was nowhere to be seen; he didn't know when she had left.

When he slept, it was afternoon, but now it was dark. Without a clock, he didn't know what time it was, but whether day or night, it was all the same to him with his Dark Vision.

Fish, fish, and more fish; after eating his fill of fish, Leon suddenly got tired of it. He ate the last half of the fish in one bite and shifted his gaze to the sparse woods by the river, deciding to try his luck there.

Compared to fish, which need to sleep at night, many fish sleep deeply and slowly float to the surface motionless, making them easy to catch at that time. Those animals that live on land and sleep at night hide away, invisible in burrows or bushes, while nocturnal animals run away long before he could get close.

Previously, Leon was reluctant to expend energy, but now that he had mastered the immobilization spell, even though Dragon Sister could control it for several seconds, he was confident enough to catch a large amount of prey and test the effects of the immobilization spell on different targets.

Ideals are plump, reality is skinny; the sparse forest had very few animals, and after walking for ten minutes, Leon hadn't seen anything, until he finally spotted a rodent—a fluffy mouse. He didn't think it was overkill to use his immobilization spell, so he just cast it.

The previously agile mouse could no longer disappear at the slightest rustle.

Leon leisurely walked over to the mouse, stretching out his claw to poke its belly...

An awkward event occurred; he absolutely couldn't tell, through the sensation on his claws, whether the mouse's muscles were stiff or feel its heartbeat. However, he guessed the heartbeat was still there, otherwise, the immobilization spell would be an assassination spell.

Yesterday, an immobilization spell had held Dragon Sister for a few seconds before losing effect, but today the control time was so long that he had to retract his Mana, otherwise it might last for hours.

Yes, Mana. He was gradually feeling the presence of spells after several uses of the Sword Control Technique.

Leon pinched the mouse and tossed it into his mouth, chewed twice, and swallowed. The taste of mouse meat was drastically different from fish, and it was hard to say which was better, though neither was really good.

After eating the mouse, Leon was interested in finding other subjects to test the effect of his immobilization spell.

Is the duration of the immobilization spell different depending on the strength and size of the subject?

Are vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch still present after being hit by an immobilization spell?

He knew from DND that Human immobilization spell and Monster Immobilization Technique involve exemption from perception; therefore, would the same logic apply to immobilization spell? For example, immobilizing someone and then humiliating them, would feelings of shame and anger lead to the spell's effect failing and a successful perception exemption?

Just thinking casually, Leon gave up on researching the immobilization spell.

Where did so many issues come from, haven't had enough of writing college papers? Even if you don't know your own strength, how fast you can run 100 meters, how long a full meal can keep you active, your life goes on as normal, and there's no need to stuff yourself after being full.

Thinking this, after searching for five more minutes and still finding nothing—no deer or rabbits, even though flying up for a broader search didn't help as his vision was blocked by the canopy and bushes—Leon decisively went back to eating fish.

For the next several days, Dragon Sister didn't come to bother Leon.

She didn't show up, and Leon didn't mind at all; every day, besides sleeping, he foraged, and having enough sleep and food was essential for growth, spending the rest of his time, if he felt like it, expanding his den.

Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and Leon went to find Edwin to study Universal Language again.

Almost mid-month again, the time for absorbing Sun and Moon Essence, and consuming Moonlight. However, the weather that night was not good, with the moon completely obscured, diminishing the moonlight and essence, making it impossible to consume Moonlight, resulting in Leon feeling bad all night.

Thankfully, the weather improved in the following two days, meeting the conditions for consuming Moonlight; otherwise, the month would have been wasted.

It was a cloudy day, otherwise Leon would definitely be basking in the sun instead of working. He was carrying a bush to the entrance of his nest when he noticed that Dragon Sister had appeared again after half a month.

"What are you doing?" Salovis landed beside Leon.

Leon turned to glance at Dragon Sister, who had managed to learn quite a bit of Universal Language by now, enough for simple conversations, and said, "Why are you here?"

"You mind?" Salovis raised her chin, "What are you doing?"

Leon did not mind Dragon Sister's impolite demeanor, considering she was a baby dragon, like a child, and said, "I'm planning to plant it here."

"Plant it here for what?" Salovis quickly responded, "You want to conceal your nest's entrance? This is Mother's territory, there won't be any danger."

"Just in case."

"Coward."

"Are you here to fight me?" Leon threatened.

"I ate Bulette meat yesterday, have you ever had it?" Salovis said, showcasing her latest idea to boast in front of Leon.

"I can eat it anytime I want."

"You can't defeat a Bulette."

Bulettes are enormous predators, reigning as overlords wherever they reside. They are irascible and greedy, fearless of any creature. Their Challenge Level could reach above 5, genuinely not something Leon, a freshly hatched baby dragon, could handle, despite mastering Sword Control Technique and immobilization spell.

Leon admitted that Bulettes were formidable, he didn't pretend otherwise, saying, "As soon as I return, I'll be able to eat it."

Salovis was overjoyed and said, "Mother won't let you return; she's lazy to care for another mouth to feed."

Since a baby dragon can be self-sufficient, there's no need to disturb her, Leon believed that a Red Dragon mother could indeed decide that.

"I don't care." Leon said.

"Tough talk." Salovis shook her head, "I like the taste of giant elk meat."

Leon couldn't see Dragon Sister's boasting expression, he shouted: "Go away!"

Salovis left with a self-assumed "victory," but just after a day, she returned, bragging about what she had eaten the night before. She came occasionally to boast about finding a silver coin, mocked Leon for learning from a Human, losing the great face of Red Dragons, saying he was not even as good as a White Dragon.

Whenever the opportunity arose, Leon would not hesitate to give her a harsh lesson, pinning her to the ground and roughing her up, but she persisted tirelessly, losing battle after battle, yet continuing to fight.

Thus, nearly two months passed, and Leon mastered Universal Language completely, even picking up quite a bit of Dragon Language through Salovis.
